Definitions

  • the present invention relates to instruments of the keyless lock or lock type with combinations with interchangeable code.
  • Such a device is described in particular in document FR-A-2 070 300.
  • Several locking members 20 are provided, opposing, by means of arms 23, the free passage of an actuating part of a lock mechanism in all positions except one, obtained after dialing the coded combination.
  • a locking member 20 and an associated toothed wheel 17 must be provided for each of the digits constituting the coded combination, so that the number of these digits is necessarily limited to a few, for example to three.
  • the device according to the invention makes it possible to have a particularly secure combination lock because it has a large number of digits and therefore a considerable number of possible combinations without the need to provide a mechanical device capable of physically reproducing all combinations. This results in a lock comparable, or even superior from the point of view of security, to those very sophisticated currently existing without having the complexity therefore a very lower price. Furthermore, its design makes it possible to modify the coded combination in a very simple and very rapid manner.
  • the invention relates to a lock with interchangeable coded combinations comprising at least two locking members opposing the free passage of an actuating part of a lock mechanism in all their positions except one, obtained after having composed the coded combination by means of a mechanical drive device for said manually operable parts.
  • this drive device comprises, on an axis where the said members are mounted with braked rotation, a unit angularly movable relative to the axis 1 and carrying a first pawl cooperating with a toothing integral with the first locking member for driving it in unidirectional rotation about said axis by a constant value independent of the angular amplitude of the movement of the crew resulting from the execution of the coded combination, and a second pawl cooperating on the one hand , with the second locking member and on the other hand with a notched disc mounted in rotation braked on said shaft in a removable manner, to drive the notched disc in unidirectional rotation by an angular value equal to the amplitude of the displacement of the movable equipment and for driving said second member in rotation when the pawl bears on a non-notched part of the above-mentioned disc.
  • the above-mentioned disc is made of a material which can easily be plugged in at least on its periphery, which is provided with a marking dividing it into a plurality of equal sectors, the width of which corresponds to the width of the notches to be produced from a notch. reference.
  • the number of divisions of the above-mentioned plurality constitutes a limit to the real capacity of the lock, as will be explained in more detail with regard to the exemplary embodiment described below. This number will have been chosen equal to 60 for reasons of the size of the lock, but it is not outside the scope of the invention to provide a disc with a different number of divisions.
  • the aforementioned disc is coupled in rotation to the end of a shaft rotating in a braked manner inside said axis and the other end of which comprises an operating button for locking of the mechanism by jamming the combination and returning the locking members and notched disc to their initial position.
  • the aforementioned disc has an axial finger cooperating with a lumen of the aforementioned second member and a finger of the first member for their mutual return by means of the operating button on a fixed stop cooperating with a stop of the first member which defines the abovementioned initial position.
  • the above-mentioned first member is, in the initial position, distant from its unlocking position by an angular value equal to the above-mentioned constant value multiplied by the number of digits constituting the coded combination while the second member is, in its initial position , in the unlocked position.
  • the angular distance separating the initial position from the final position of the second locking member is a factor also limiting the real capacity of the lock in that it determines the number of digits of the code therefore the number of manipulations of the mechanical drive device.
  • it is possible to manufacture different types of locks which can be operated by means of a combination with different numbers of digits (from 6 to 14 or 16 for example). It is the combination of the number of divisions of the plug-in disc and this distance which constitutes the limit to the choice of the code, knowing that the total of the "n" digits constituting the latter cannot be greater than the number of divisions mentioned above.
  • the above-mentioned mobile assembly is coupled to a shaft for controlling its rotation which has one end capable of detachably receiving an alpha-digital drive dial during the composition of the code. It should be noted in this regard that it will be advantageous for the coupling of the dial and the control shaft to be disengageable when the resistance torque offered by the mechanical device driven by the dial is greater than a predetermined value when for example having exceeded the capacity limit of the lock, the various moving parts are at the end stop.
  • the above-mentioned mobile assembly consists of a pinion rotatably mounted on said axis, attacked by a pinion of the said control shaft and provided with a finger parallel to the said axis for driving a flange, rotating on said axis, carrying a pivot for said pawls, the aforementioned finger passing through said flange in a light and constituting a ramp for raising or lowering the pawls acting against return members of the latter towards the aforementioned toothing or disc.
  • This part can for example be a rod which can be controlled in translation in the direction of the arrows A so that it comes to mate with a rotary lock mechanism on the right side of the figure, and in rotation, once the 'racking made with the lock mechanism, to release the bolt from the latter.
  • the control in translation and in rotation of this rod is carried out on the left side of the figure by a rotary push button or any other similar element.
  • the translation will only be authorized if the position of the discs 2 and 3 is such that the respective notches 2a and 3a which they have are on the path of the rod. In all other cases the rod will abut either on disc 2 or on disc 3 without being able to reach the lock mechanism.
  • a coupling between the push button and the rod which gives way beyond a certain thrust threshold (telescopic engagement of one in the other with spring interposed by advantagel so as to limit to a value acceptable without damage by the discs, the perpendicular force to which they would be subjected in their locking positions.
  • the disc 2 and the disc 3 are braked in rotation by friction between two washers 5 and 6 for the disc 2 and on a washer 7 for the disc 3.
  • These washers will preferably be made of an elastomer loaded with magnetic powder and rest on a fixed flange 8 for the washer 5 and a fixed flange 9 for the washers 6 and 7.
  • the fixed flanges 8 and 9 are force-fitted on the axis 1.
  • this stack is shown as a disc, separate washers and flanges, but these elements are actually adjacent.
  • the rotation control of the discs 2 and 3 is ensured by an assembly 10 movable angularly around the fixed axis 1.
  • This assembly consists of a flange-shaped element 11 extending perpendicularly to the axis 1 and carrying a shaft or pivot 12 therefore capable of turning parallel to itself about the axis 1.
  • On this pivot 12 are articulated two pawls 13 and 14, the pawl 13 being here represented in the form of two pawls 13a and 13b integral l 'from each other as shown by the mixed lines which connect them, due to the separate representation of the members 8 and 2 with which the pawl 13 cooperates in their real position.
  • Returning members not shown have the effect of returning the pawls 13 and 14 in the direction of the axis 1.
  • the movable assembly also comprises a pinion or toothed wheel 15 mounted so as to rotate on the axis 1 which comprises a finger 16 parallel to the axis 1 which crosses the flange 11 in a slot 17 and on which, in their position shown in the drawing, the pawls 13 and 14 bear under the effect of their respective return member.
  • the pinion 15 meshes with a pinion 18 which is wedged on a control shaft 19, the end of which opens outside the door, on which is mounted, the lock (left part of the figure) comprises means for its coupling. removable with a digital or alpha-digital dial 20 of the telephone handset dial type.
  • These coupling means here symbolized by a drive square, will preferably comprise a declutching system allowing the free rotation of the dial 20 when the resistive torque offered by the moving assembly is greater than a determined value (for example when we will have reached elements will have come to a stop).
  • the axis 1 is hollow and is crossed by an inner shaft 21 having at its end opening towards the door (left of the figure) an operating button 22 of its rotation which can be removable and at its other end a part 2l has for receiving a notched and notched disc 23 shown in elevation in FIG. 2. This disc is locked in rotation on the shaft 21 and is held there in a removable manner by a nut 24.
  • the disc 2 is provided on one of its faces with a toothing 25 which can cooperate with the pawl 13 while the fixed disc 8 has a recess 26 in which the pawl 13 may fall (its part 13b in the figure) and an edge 26a of which is shaped into a cam surface ensuring the lifting of the pawl 13 when the latter in its rotation upwards said cam surface.
  • the disc 3 comprises a circular lumen 27 which has two close end edges 27a and 27b, as well as an axial abutment finger 28 turned on the side of the pawl 14. The latter has an extension 14a opposite its part cooperating with the disc 23 relative to the pivot 12 which also includes an axial abutment finger 29 rotates towards the disc 3.
  • the relative arrangement of the fingers 28 and 29 is such that when the active end of the pawl 14 is moved away from the edge of the disc 23 by the finger 16, the finger 29 passes between the axis 1 and the finger 28. If the active end of the pawl 14 cooperates with the edge of the disc 23 in a non-notched area, the path of the finger 29 passes through the finger 28 and the rotation of the pawl 14 about the axis 1 causes a corresponding rotation of the disc 3. When finally the active part of the pawl 14 is housed in a notch of the disc 23, the path of the finger 29 is outside the centered circle on axis 1 and passing through finger 28.
  • the disc 23 is provided with a finger 30 facing the light 27 to penetrate therein and cooperate with a finger 31 of the disc 2.
  • the disc 2 On its other face, the disc 2 has a finger 32 facing the disc. fixed 8 which has in correspondence a finger 23 making it stop at the rotation of the disc 2 when the finger 32 meets it.
  • the disc 3 has a cam surface 34 which cooperates with a display and / or alarm device 35, and the rotation of the flange 11 of the movable assembly 10 is braked by means of '' a magnetic washer 36 bearing on the fixed flange 8.
  • the coding of the lock according to the invention consists in notching the disc 23 and in placing it at the end of the shaft 21 by means of the knurled nut 24.
  • the disc 23 as shown in FIG. 2 is constituted by a circular plate of a material whose thickness is easy to notch by means of pliers. This disc has a plurality 37 of equal divisions at its periphery produced by an appropriate marking or an adhesive bearing these printed divisions. In the case of figure these divisions are sixty in number.
  • the disc 23 also has a reference notch 38.
  • the starting or initial position of the lock is such that the finger 32 of the disc 2 is in abutment on the finger 33 of the flange 8 while the finger 30 of the disc 23 is in contact with the finger 31 of the disc 2 and in contact with the edge 27a of the lumen 27 of the disc 3.
  • the reference notch 38 is located opposite the active part of the pawl 14.
  • the notch 2a of the disc 2 is in a position distant from its unlocking position by an angular value equal to a certain number of teeth of the toothing 25, this number corresponding to the number of manipulations that it is appropriate to to bring the notch into its unlocking position by means of the pawl 13. For example, choose this number equal to 10. To increase this number, simply move fingers 31 and 32 of disc 2 to a position farther from the notch in a counter-clockwise direction and to decrease it by bringing these two fingers closer together. of the notch. It can be seen that thus it is possible to manufacture different types of lock with a minimum of modifications from one type to another, especially if the locations of the aforementioned fingers on the disc 2 are predetermined.
  • each notch being produced on a division and of the same width as the latter.
  • the number of the code thus obtained will be the continuation of the ten numbers of divisions which separate each notch from the previous notch from notch 38.
  • the disc being traversed clockwise, the notch made being included in the number of divisions.
  • the code represented in FIG. 2 is therefore written 7 8 5 1 8 4 5 4 5 8. It will be noted that one of the important advantages of the lock of the invention lies in the simplicity of its coding and especially in the simplicity with modify it. It suffices to change the disc 23, which is very fast, the nut 24 being easily accessible from inside the room.
  • the combination can be "scrambled" by turning the button 22 counterclockwise.
  • the cooperation of the different fingers 30 and 31 with each other and with the edge 27b of the light 27 places the two discs 2 and 3 in any position as well as the disc 23.
  • a fixed stop 20a can be placed on the door at the same time as the dial or can be fixed there permanently, to limit the stroke of the dial to the number chosen.
  • the number 7 is dialed.
  • the rotation of the dial 20 causes the rotation of the pinion 18 and the opposite and reduced rotation of the pinion 15.
  • the finger 16 which is harnessed, travels through the light 17 without causing the flange 11.
  • the pawls 13 and 14 have their edge bearing on the finger 16 shaped so that the movement of the latter allows the pawl 13 to fall into the recess 26 of the fixed flange 8 and in a hollow in the toothing 25 and the pawl 14 to fall into the initial notch 38 of the disc 23.
  • the finger 16 arriving at the light end 17 causes the flange 11 on an angular sector corresponding to the number 7.
  • the pawl 13 drives the disc 2 until the cam surface 26a releases the pawl from the teeth.
  • the angular displacement will correspond to the value of a tooth.
  • the pawl 14 being housed in a notch, sees its finger 29 located outside of the finger 28 of the disc 3 which thus does not move. You will have noticed that its initial position is its unlocking position.
  • the next digit in the code is then dialed (8 for the above example).
  • the pawl 13 after having fallen, will advance the toothing 25 and the disc 2 by a new unit value corresponding to a tooth, while the pawl 14, falling into a notch since the first dialed number has advanced the disc 22 by 7 divisions and therefore placed the second notch opposite the pawl 14, does not change the position of the disc 3.
  • composition of a bad figure means that the pawl 14 no longer falls into a notch, but on an un-notched part of the disc 23 (which can for example be toothed or smooth).
  • the finger 29 interferes with the finger 28 of the disc 3 which is moved from its unlocking position. The lock is then impossible to unlock without returning to the initial position.
  • this rotation of the disc 3 causes the feeler of the display or alarm member 35 to fall along the cam surface 34. It is thus possible, either to observe by a device of mechanical indicators, the unsuccessful attempt to open the the door, either trigger an alarm in the room or in a place of remote monitoring.
  • composition of a code comprising an insufficient number of digits or in excess compared to that coded (and imposed by the type of lock) places the light 2a of the disc 2 in a position prohibiting unlocking.
  • the device makes it possible to carry out a very large number of combinations, without these being possible to be codified. For example, you can easily dial the number 8 on dial 20 ten times. In the case of a disc with sixty divisions, you can only program a 10-digit code if the addition of these numbers does not exceed not 60 (and even a little less if we want to take into account the distance separating the edges 27a and 27b of the light 27 which is traversed by the finger 30 in the case where the disc 23 has an external toothing which implies that each compound figure results in a rotation of the disc).
  • the lock according to the invention has a limit in the choice of the digits of the code (their sum at most equal to the number of divisions) but this limit does not appear to the manipulator seeking to find the code.
  • the lock of the invention makes it possible to "drown" a combination coded among a multitude of combinations of which a part could have existed but of which another cannot exist by construction, all of which can be "restored” to the lock.
  • Another alternative embodiment of the invention consists in providing instead of the disc 2 a locking disc linked to the notched disc and a locking member which would be actuated by a lever of the pawl type 14 if a code number is wrong knowing that the disc linked to the notched disc could be in the unlocked position if the total of the digits dialed was equal to the total of the digits of the code.
  • the invention finds an interesting application in the field of security devices.
