Description

The invention relates to a belt feeder according to the preamble of patent claim 1.

Such a belt feeder and its drive is such. B. from DE-A-30 15 130 known. Such belt feeders are operated in a clock-controlled manner in accordance with the firing rhythm, in that a switching element connected to the feed shaft of the belt feeder, in particular in the form of a star wheel, engages in the belt members in order to bring the cartridges held by them in succession into the removal position. The feed shaft in turn can be connected to a drive source by means of a separable coupling.

In this known belt feeder, it can happen that the belt initially moved during a feed stroke in the feed or transport direction moves the switching element causing the transport and thus also the feed shaft connected to it in the transport direction when the positively controlled advance stop is switched off and a previously moved in the removal position Cartridge has been pushed out of the belt feeder by the fastener. However, this results in a reduced overlap of the tooth flanks in the coupling area of the feed shaft, so that there is a risk that the coupling parts will be damaged as a result of the greater surface pressure during the next feed stroke, which is initiated by closing the coupling with engagement of the opposing tooth flanks.

Beschädigungen von insbesondere verzahnten Kupplungsteilen durch verringerte Überdeckung von einander gegenüberstehenden Zahnflanken und höhere Flächenpressungen können durch den hebelartigen Patronenanschlag nicht vermieden werden.DE-C-10 43 154 also discloses a belt feeder with a star wheel for feeding belted ammunition into a machine gun, in which a double lever mounted on the star wheel shaft represents a flexible stop for the front cartridge which has already been de-belted and which is next in the extended position to get what she experiences at this stop a change in her direction of movement from the circumferential direction of the star wheel in a radial direction in a radial channel to the extended position. In this known belt feeder, the coupling of the star wheel shaft is to engage with a certain rotational play in the connecting means to the drive source. Damage to toothed coupling parts in particular due to the reduced coverage of opposing tooth flanks and higher surface pressures cannot be avoided by the lever-like cartridge stop.

The invention has for its object to provide a novel belt feeder, in which the risk of such damage is eliminated, whereby greater reliability and reliability, in particular a longer life of the weapon can be achieved.

This object is achieved by the invention specified in claim 1.

Advantageous embodiments of the invention emerge from the subclaims.

Dabei zeigt :

The invention is explained in more detail below with reference to the drawing. It shows:
  • 1 shows a cross section through the parts of the belt feeder which are essential for the explanation of the invention;
  • Fig. 2: a schematic representation of the interaction of tooth flanks in the coupling area without the invention;

Bei einer Waffe mit Eigenantrieb wird in bekannter Weise die Antriebsenergie entweder aus der Rücklaufenergie, aus dem Gasdruck oder aus der Verschlußbewegung entnommen.1 shows a sectional view through the parts of a belt feeder 100 which are essential for the explanation of the invention. The belt feeder consists of a feed housing 3 in which a feed shaft 40 is rotatably mounted. The feed shaft 40 can be connected at least temporarily to a drive source, also not shown, via a coupling (not shown in FIG. 1). In the case of an externally powered weapon, this drive source is usually an electric motor. In the case of a self-propelled weapon, the drive energy is drawn in a known manner either from the return energy, from the gas pressure or from the breech movement.

With the feed shaft 40 is a switching element in the form of a star wheel 9, which engages with its teeth in the cartridges 5, 6, 7 of the belt and moves these in cycles in the feed direction, so that the respective leading cartridge comes into the removal position. From this removal position, the cartridge is fed to the barrel through the breech, not shown. The direction of rotation of the star wheel 9 acting as a switching element is indicated by the arrow identified by reference number 12 '; the resulting running or advancing direction of the belt 5, 6, 7 is indicated by the arrow 12. The belt feeder 100 transports the belt 5, 6, 7 in the direction of the arrow 12. The belt 5, 6, 7 thus excited can be switched off after the positively controlled advance lock, the parts of which are not shown in the drawing, and after being pushed out in the extended position located leading cartridge due to its inertia, the star wheel 9 and thus the rotationally fixedly connected to this star wheel 9 feed shaft 40 further in the transport direction 12 '. This has the disadvantageous consequence that in the coupling area of the feed shaft 40, which is not visible in FIG. 1 because it is located behind the plane of the drawing, the tooth flanks of the transport coupling 21 and the transport pinion 20 are disengaged. This situation is explained on the basis of the schematic illustration according to FIGS. 2 and 3.

In the ideal state, the tooth surfaces of the transport clutch 21 and the transport pinion 20 have the large-area overlap designated X in FIG. 3. When force is applied, there is a comparatively low surface pressure. which excludes damage to the tooth flanks and thus to great operational safety and contributes to the long life of the weapons.

In the case of the undesired rotation of the star wheel 9 caused by the belt 5, 6, 7, the tooth flanks of the transport coupling 21 and the transport pinion 20 separate, as shown in FIG. 2, when the teeth of the transport coupling 21 deflect in the direction of the arrow 22. As a result, however, the overlap between the tooth surfaces assigned to one another decreases and only reaches the much smaller value Y. With a new feed cycle, the interacting tooth surfaces only collide in the overlap region Y. This causes a much larger surface pressure, which leads to damage. for example to deform the tooth surfaces or break the teeth. Obviously, this significantly reduces the operational safety and life of the weapon.

These are means which - at least temporarily - brake or stop the undesired movement of the belt 5, 6, 7 and in this way prevent the separation of tooth flanks in the coupling area of the belt feeder 100. The means consist in detail of a lever 1 with two lever arms 10 ', 10 ", which is pivotably mounted about an axis of rotation 4 arranged in the weapon housing 3 such that the lever arm 10' of the lever 1 into the running plane of the belt 5, 6, 7th protrudes.

The second lever arm 10 ″ of the lever 1 has a stop surface c, which rests on a counter surface c ′ in the feeder housing in the rest position of the lever 1 and thus fixes the rest position or end position of the lever 1. Between the lever arm 10 ′ of the lever 1 and the A spring 2 is additionally arranged in the feeder housing 3, the end pieces of which are mounted in bores provided in the lever arm 10 'or in the feeder housing 3. The spring 1 is biased by this spring 2 in such a way that it always strives to assume its rest position, at which the stop surface c rests on the counter surface c '.

In the rest position of the lever 1, its first lever arm 10 'is pivoted into the running plane of the belt 5, 6, 7, so that the control surfaces a, b of the lever arm 10' lie between the cartridges 5, 6 of the belt. With a feed movement of the belt 5, 6, 7 in the direction of arrow 12 ', the control surface b of the lever arm 10' lies tangentially on the outer surface of the cartridge 5 and in this way inhibits or brakes the movement of the belt in the direction of thrust 12, since the Lever 1 must be pushed back against the force of the spring 2 in one direction of the double arrow marked with reference number 11. Reference numeral 8 shows a cartridge which just passes the lever arm 10 'of the lever 1 during a transport step and thereby lifts this lever 1 into its second extreme position which deviates from the rest position. The braking process described above is achieved. that in the non-driven state of the belt 5. 6, 7 can not move undesirably in the direction of thrust 12, with the result. that the feed shaft 40 is not caused to rotate and ultimately the tooth flanks in the coupling area can remain in the optimal position shown in FIG. 3.

After the cartridge 8 has deflected the lever 1 into its extreme working position via the lever arm 10 ', it slides along the second control surface a. The lever 1 returns to its rest position, while this control surface a gives the cartridge an additional impulse in the feed direction 12.

In a particularly advantageous manner, the lever 1 also makes it easier to load the belt feeder with a filled belt, since when the belt guide piece is inserted, it presses it against the side wall 10 of the weapon housing 3 and thus enables the belt guide piece to be inserted into the de-belting rails 50, which are in the belt feeder 100 are arranged. In the same way, a safe introduction of the belt end itself is finally made possible, whereby inhibitions in the operational sequence of the weapon are avoided.
