Abstract

The cooker contains several conventional hotplates in a mounting plate. A thermostat is associated with each hotplate. However, the thermostat is not placed in or on the hotplate, but is instead located on the cooker, particularly between the hotplate and the edge or one of the corners of the mounting plate to protect against localized overheating apart from the hotplate.

Description

The invention relates to a cooking appliance with a plurality of electric hotplates, in particular hotplates with a hotplate body with a substantially closed upper cooking surface, which are installed in a mounting plate, each hotplate being assigned a temperature protection switch which is switched on in at least one of its supply lines.

The above-mentioned electric hot plates have a temperature protection switch which is arranged on the hot plate, for example below the central zone of the hot plate, and which responds to overheating of the hot plate, so that it is switched off inadvertently when idling, but usually even when a certain operating temperature is exceeded or is switched off lower power is switched back. Such a temperature protection switch has become known from DE-PS 11 23 059.

From DE-PS 26 20 004 a temperature limiter or controller has also become known, which is arranged outside the space enclosed by the lower hotplate cover, but in which the temperature sensor also projects into this space in order to achieve the best possible temperature of the hotplate or to be able to sense their heating. A safety temperature switch is also provided in the base of the switch, but this also largely responds to the hotplate temperature, like similar temperature switches arranged on a connecting plate of the hotplate.

These temperature protection switches are designed to detect overheating of the hotplate and to switch it off when a certain temperature is exceeded. As in the version according to DE-PS 11 23 059, part of the power is already switched off even in a quite common temperature range of the hotplate, the remaining power being sufficient to carry out normal cooking operations and is nevertheless too low to prevent undue overheating to create. The object of the invention is to secure a cooking appliance with a plurality of electric hotplates in such a way that, with the least possible impairment of the performance of the hotplates, even the cooking appliance is protected against the effects of overheating.

This object is achieved according to the invention in that the temperature protection switches are arranged outside of the hot plates and separately from these below the mounting plate on the cooking device. This arrangement therefore does not protect the hotplate itself against the upper temperature, which is also usually unnecessary because the hotplate itself can withstand very high temperatures, but surround it the components that can be temperature-sensitive, for example a worktop in which a hob is built in, a switch or control strip on a stove or the like. Nevertheless, it is not a pure temperature monitoring for the entire cooking appliance, but each temperature protection switch is one assigned to a specific hotplate. This not only has the advantage that the hotplate can be delivered pre-wired to the temperature protection switch, but also that the other hotplates can continue to be used even if a temperature protection switch responds. The critical temperature could have arisen, for example, from a temperature build-up in a specific area of the cooking appliance, which is eliminated by switching off a single plate, but the housewife can continue to work on the other cooking plates.

The temperature protection switch can preferably be arranged between the hotplate and the edge of the mounting plate. Most of the time, the temperature-sensitive components lie towards the edge of the mounting plate, so that this arrangement already provides quite good protection. The temperature protection switch can be arranged in any way, for example on the edge of the mounting plate or the trough that covers it downwards, on the underside of the mounting plate or on other components. However, it is particularly preferred to attach it to a mounting bracket for the respective hotplate, which usually clamps the hotplate downward against the mounting plate. Here the temperature protection switch is far enough away from the hotplate to its direct temperature to be deprived of influence, but also in a good position in relation to the parts of the environment to be protected.

In the case of hot plates with several separately switchable heating conductors, the temperature protection switch can only be switched on in part of the heating conductors. Here, too, it is usually sufficient if part of the power is switched off, in particular if the cooking appliance has no excessively temperature-sensitive components, as is usually the case with a cooker made of enamelled sheet metal. The temperature protection switch can preferably be switched on in a common supply line of a plurality of heating conductors, so that, for example in the case of a so-called seven-cycle plate which has three heating conductors, two of these can be switched off together. The temperature protection switch can also be provided in addition to a temperature limiter provided in the hotplate. Such temperature limiters can e.g. be provided in connection with the hotplate control, for example in the form of a temperature control working with a hydraulic can on the hotplate.

But it is also possible to provide the temperature protection switch instead of a hotplate internal temperature limiter, if it is ensured that the hotplate can withstand the temperature generated by itself even under extreme operating conditions, as is the case with hotplates with a closed hotplate body made of cast iron, which is based on a medium one Performance.

The temperature protection switches can each be arranged on a flexible connecting line extending from the hotplate and can preferably be attached by means of a push-on or snap-on fastening. So can the temperature circuit breaker on the hotplate must already be electrically connected and is only attached during installation by a quick attachment provided on himself or the cooking device.

Features of preferred developments of the invention are evident from the description and the drawings, the individual features being able to be implemented individually or in groups in the form of sub-combinations in one embodiment of the invention. Embodiments of the invention are shown in the drawing and are explained in more detail below. Show it:
  • Fig. 1 is a bottom view of a built-in hob with the cover removed and
  • 2 to 4 are schematic representations of hot plates, temperature protection switches and switches or controllers, each of a seven-cycle controlled hot plate and two temperature-controlled hot plates.

A cooking appliance 11 has a mounting plate 12 made of sheet metal, for example enamelled steel sheet. The hob is to be installed in a worktop of a piece of kitchen furniture, not shown, and normally has a lower cover, which is also not shown, and which closes the dish towards the bottom. The hob is very flat and does not have a much greater overall height than that determined by the switches or the hob thickness.

In the mounting plate 12, four hot plates 13 are built in, from above, with the hot plates provided with customary, also referred to as top rim, built-in metal rings circular cutouts of the mounting plate are inserted and are clamped downwards against the mounting plate by means of a central screw 14 and a support bracket which protrudes diagonally over the hotplate and whose edges are supported on the mounting plate 12. Built-in plates made of sheet metal are usually deformed upward in the area of the openings for the hot plates in order to create an edge to protect against continuous cooking material and to stiffen the built-in plate. In contrast, this edge is omitted in the case of also possible mounting plates made of glass or ceramic.

In the example shown, the hotplates are so-called seven-cycle hotplates, i.e. Hot plates each with three separately switchable heating resistors, which are embedded in grooves on the underside of the hot plate body made of cast iron in insulating material. The hot plates are preferably conventional hot plates with a closed upper, flat cooking surface.

The underside of the hot plates is each covered by a profiled cover plate 16, to which a connecting plate 17 projecting laterally beyond the hot plate is attached, on which a connection base 18 with connecting terminals for the hot plate feed lines 19 is fastened.

The hot plates can be hot plates with or without a built-in temperature protection switch, which is normally arranged in the central zone. This is a conventional temperature protection switch, as is known from DE-PS 11 23 059 or 24 22 625 or DE-OS 30 27 998.

On the support brackets 15, each directed towards the outer edge of the mounting plate and preferably its corners, Temperature limiter 20 arranged, one for each hotplate, which is respectively attached to the associated outward end of the bracket. These temperature limiters can be conventional temperature limiters, such as those described in the above-mentioned documents. They normally have a bimetal or another temperature-sensitive element and a temperature-dependent switch which opens the circuit at the set temperature. The attachment can be done by screwing or plugging on using a clip or snap attachment. The temperature limiter is therefore arranged outside of the hotplate and separately from it and lies in the space between the mounting plate and the cover plate of the trough arranged below it. It can be seen that one of the hotplate connections 19 leads over the temperature protection switch 20 before it, like the other connections, runs in a common wiring harness 21 along the outer edge of the hob to the associated switches 22, which have associated signal lamps on a narrow side the recessed area are arranged.

It can be seen that the temperature limiter lies in each case between the hotplate and the edge of the mounting plate, on which possibly combustible objects, such as the worktop of the hob, can begin. It also lies between the hotplate and the wiring harness and the switches and also protects them against high temperatures. Because each temperature limiter is assigned to the hotplate, in the vicinity of which it is arranged, it only switches off the hotplate concerned when it responds.

It can be seen from FIGS. 2 to 4 how the temperature protection switch 20 is switched on electrically. In Fig. 2 the embodiment according to Fig. 1 is shown, i.e. a seven-stroke switch 22 in connection with a corresponding hotplate 13 with three heating conductors N1 - N3. The temperature protection switch 20 is switched on in the common supply line to the two heating conductors N2 and N3 and switches it off when it responds. Since the remaining heating resistor N1 only has between about a fifth and a third of the total output in conventional hot plates, there remains a maximum (at the highest switching level of the seven-cycle switch) between 250 and 600 watts, which can in no way be dangerous. If there is also a built-in temperature limiter, this power will also be switched off or an even smaller residual power will remain if the built-in temperature limiter switches off even a part of the total power.

Die Ausdehnungsdose betätigt zwei Schaltkontakte, die auf unterschiedliche Temperaturen eingestellt sind, so daß bei Annäherung an die eingestellte Temperatur die Leistung stufenweise abgeschaltet und im umgekehrten Falle wieder stufenweise eingeschaltet wird.3 and 4, an embodiment is shown in which the hotplate is temperature-controlled in each case by an adjustable controller 22a, specifically via a hydraulic system with a sensor socket 25 arranged in the middle of the hotplate and filled with expansion liquid, which via a capillary tube 25 with a non- expansion socket shown is connected in the controller. The hotplate 13a here has two heating resistors 27, that is to say it is a two-circuit hotplate which is connected to the controller 22a via a total of three feed lines. The expansion socket actuates two switching contacts, which are set to different temperatures, so that when the temperature is approached, the power is switched off in stages and, in the opposite case, is switched on again in stages.

Fig. 3 shows an embodiment in which the temperature limiter 20 is switched on in a supply line to only one of the two heating resistors, so that only half or a corresponding proportion of the power is switched off. In this case, even after the temperature protection switch has responded, it is still possible to continue working, but with reduced power, while in FIG. 4 the temperature protection switch 20 lies in the common supply line to both heating resistors 27 and thus completely switches off the hotplate. It should be noted here that the risk of overheating is very low with such a temperature-controlled plate, since even when set to full power, the plate hardly reaches a dangerous temperature when idling, because the heat reaction from the hotplate to the temperature sensor itself is intended to lie on the hotplate base, is so large that the controller regulates the plate down in time. Nevertheless, it is possible that incorrect installation, for example in the event of a repair, causes the temperature sensors to be mixed up by plugging the temperature sensor belonging to a controller into a different hotplate than the associated one. Then the controller is of course switched off and the hotplate can be overheated after being switched on and in particular overheat its surroundings, so the temperature switch is therefore also advantageous with this type of control.

It is possible that. Attach the temperature switch elsewhere as long as it has a meaningful relationship to the hotplate and the object to be protected. For example, direct attachment to the mounting plate may prove to be beneficial if the Built-in plate consists of a glass that can withstand the normal temperatures. however, it is damaged in the event of extreme overheating.

Although in the preferred embodiment, an attachment of the temperature switches is shown radially well outside the hot plates, it is also possible to bring the temperature switches into an effective position by attaching them below the hot plates, in particular if the endangered surrounding areas are below the hot plates. For this purpose, an attachment to the underside of carrying brackets of the cooking device is advantageous. It would also be possible in an embodiment in which the support bracket is replaced by a corresponding trough to mount the temperature switch under this support trough, and thus possibly between it and a sheet metal that closes off the cooking appliance at the bottom.

The embodiment described is particularly preferred in which a hotplate is assigned to a hotplate only for it. However, it can also be advantageous to assign two temperature protection switches to a hotplate if, for example, there are two thermally endangered areas in the area of a hotplate. It is also possible to assign two hotplates to a common temperature protection switch if, for example there is only one thermally endangered area in the area of the two hotplates, for example an edge of a wooden mounting plate. A coupling, for example the assignment of two temperature protection switches to two hotplates in such a way that the activation of a switch switches off both hotplates completely or partially, can be useful within the scope of the invention.
