Description
The invention relates to a hot plate and finds its application in the production of ovens for drying inked papers in reprographic machines.
In a first type of oven known for this application, the metal heating plate has a smooth upper face intended to receive the paper and a lower face provided with a heating means constituted by the printed circuit of a heating resistance produced by screen printing on a plastic film, the latter serving as insulation between the metal plate on which it is fixed and the heating printed circuit. This device is very fragile because the plastic film does not long resist the effects of the temperature to which it is subjected which can reach 140 ° C. In addition, it may be subjected to accidental breakdowns between the heating circuit and the metal plate. In all cases, the circuit is destroyed by cutting off the heating conductor.
In a second known device of this kind, the heating circuit, also produced by screen printing, is deposited on a ceramic support which serves as an insulator between the metal plate and the circuit, as is the plastic film in the first device mentioned. The disadvantage here resides in the fact that the ceramic does not withstand thermal shocks due to sudden heating and cooling when the power is turned on or the power supply is interrupted. '' When the ceramic breaks, the heating circuit which is deposited there is broken.
In a third known device of this kind, the heating elements are stretched tungsten wires. This device has the drawback of having to be permanently on since the time necessary for the support plate to reach a temperature sufficient for drying the inked papers is very long.
The object of the invention is therefore to provide a device which does not deteriorate under the action of temperature or thermal shock, while presenting the possibility of reaching the temperature of use practically instantaneously.
In a device, as described in the preamble, this object is achieved by the fact that the heating plate consists of a metal sheet, the rectangular central portion of which receives the inked paper has a large dimension at least equal to the width paper perpendicular to the direction of movement of the latter, and whose two edges parallel to the large dimension are folded towards the bottom of the heating plate so as to form under the latter two housings intended to receive and immobilize each a heating element.
In an improved embodiment of the invention, the heating elements are of the "shielded with mineral insulator" type.
In another embodiment of the invention, the shape and the internal dimensions of the housings are provided that are substantially identical to the shape and dimensions of the cross section of a heating element so as to create good thermal contact.
Depending on the shape of the heating elements used, which can be cylindrical or prismatic, the housings are made in cylindrical or prismatic shape respectively.
On the other hand, the heating elements, after having been introduced into their housing, can be either crimped, or welded, or brazed, so as to establish a better thermal contact with the heating plate.
The features of the invention and the embodiments according to the invention appear more precisely in the following description with reference to the accompanying drawings, all given by way of example.
Figure 1 shows a longitudinal section of a heating plate relative to the direction of movement of the inked paper thereon, equipped with heating elements of cylindrical shape.
La figure 2 représente une coupe transversale d'une même plaque chauffante, dans le plan de l'axe d'un des éléments chauffants.2 shows a cross section of the same heating plate, in the plane of the axis of one of the heating elements.
As shown in Figure 1, the heating plate, constituted p. ex. of a sheet of aluminum 0.5 mm thick has a rectangular part l, 27 mm by 220 mm, whose edges parallel to the large dimension are rolled towards the bottom of the plate so as to form two housings cylindrical 3 and 4, diameter 4 mm intended to receive the
Figure 2 shows with respect to the direction of movement of the paper a cross section of the heating element 5 (or 6 since these elements are identical) in its housing 3 (or 4). The 220 mm nickel-
La gaine est rendue étanche à l'humidité par deux bouchons de résine époxide (25 et 26).The conductors 7 (or 9) and 8 (or 10) are isolated from the
The outputs 7 and 8 of the
In a heating plate according to the invention, no possibility of breakage due to thermal shock can occur because all the parts of the device which are subjected to a high temperature are metallic or refractory.
The invention applies to reprographic machines in general and more particularly to facsimile machines, because the fact that its operating temperature is reached very quickly, such a heating plate is capable of being put into operation by the same order which activates the fax system.
Finally, it is obvious that the application of the invention to reprographic machines is not limiting, and that on the other hand, for those skilled in the art, many variants can be imagined without departing from the scope of the present invention as defined by the claims below appended.
