Die im Untertage-Bergbau zu gewinnende Steinkohle wird derzeit vornehmlich schneident mittels Schrämmaschinen abgebaut.Die hierfür verwendeten Schrämmaschinen, die mit einer oder zwei Schrämwalzen ausgerüstet sind, werden über oder stoßseitig - neben dem Strebförderer an den Stoß- und altseitigen Förderanbauten gleitend oder rollend verfahren. Die Schrämwalzengrundkörper sind mit drei bis sechs, je nach dem Schrämwalzen-0 mehr oder weniger hohen, gewindeähnlichen Gängen versehen, deren Oberflächen mit Schrämmeißeln bestückt sind. Die Kohle wird durch diese Schrämmeißel losgebrochen und durch die vorher beschriebene Bauform der Schrämwalze in Richtung Strebförderer ausgetragen. Das kreisbogenförmige Räumschild ist, in einem bestimmten Abstand zu den Meißelspitzen der Schrämwalzen, an einen Räumschildhalter angeschraubt. Dieser Räumschildhalter ist geteilt und umgreift ringförmig das Planetenträgergehäuse so, daß es in einer Führung mitsamt dem Räumschild um die Schrämwalze verschwenkt werden kann. Beim Schrämen muß das Räumschild immer, in Schrämrichtung, hinter der Schrämwalze stehen. Wird die Schrämrichtung geändert, muß das Räumschild mit dem Räumschildhalter um die Schrämwalze in die richtige Stellung geschwenkt werden. Noch ungünstiger wirkt es sich aus, wenn,ohne das Räumschild zu schwenken, die Schrämrichtung kurzfristig geändert wird, um z.B. einen Nachfall vermeintlich besser bewältigen zu können. Bei den vorgenannten Fällen ergeben sich in dem Räumschildhalter so hohe Biegekräfte, daß es zu dessen Verformung kommt. Diese können so erheblich sein, daß insbesondere der im Schrämtiefsten befindliche, äußerste Teil des Räumschildes mit den äußersten Schrämmeißeln der Schrämwalze in Berührung kommt. Dadurch ergeben sich zwangsläufig Beschädigungen des Räumschildes, weil die Schrämmeißel tiefe Rillen in die Blechbeplankung dieses Räumschildteils fräsen. Diese Beschädigungen des Räumschildes zwangen bisher nicht nur zu einem ziemlich aufwendigen Auswechseln desselben und auch gegebenenfalls zum Wechseln des Räumschildhalters, sondern es waren damit, besonders im Untertagebetrieb, auch gefährliche Sicherheitsrisiken verbunden.
