Description

The present invention relates to an automatic control system for mobile objects, consisting of response units arranged on the mobile objects, in which information about the respective object is stored, and at least one interrogation unit which, when passing through a response unit, transmits a carrier signal of a first frequency to it for dining a converter in the response unit, which transmits a signal of a second frequency modulated with the stored information to the interrogation unit.

Such an information system equipped with query and response units is known from DE-OS 28 46 129. It is a flexible handling of these response units that they have to be connected externally to an operating energy source or to be equipped with their own operating energy source. A ferrite rod antenna is installed on each response unit to receive the carrier signal transmitted by the interrogation unit. However, the response unit also has a second antenna, namely for sending a response signal to the interrogation unit, which is a signal modulated with the information stored in the response unit of a different frequency than that of the received carrier signal. Equipping the response unit with two different antennas results in a large and bulky construction of the response units.

The invention is based on the object of designing the response unit of the automatic control system of the type mentioned at the outset in such a way that it has a compact, easy-to-handle shape in order to enable flexible use on a wide variety of mobile objects.

According to the invention, this object is achieved in that a signal component coupled by the carrier signal in the response unit serves as operating energy for the electronic circuit parts of the response unit.

Appropriate embodiments and applications of the invention emerge from the subclaims.

The response unit according to the invention can therefore be constructed in a very handy form, because it does not require its own energy source and, moreover, only a single antenna in the form of an induction coil in order both to receive a signal supplying the operating voltage and to transmit an information signal to an interrogation unit.

The invention will now be explained in more detail with reference to an embodiment shown in the drawing. Show it
  • 1 shows the basic circuit diagrams of a query unit and a response unit and
  • Fig. 2 shows the outer shape of a response unit.

The automatic information system mentioned at the beginning can be used to identify mobile objects such as identify rail-bound vehicles or goods moving with conveyor belts or the like. The information system can also be used to guide mobile objects to specific locations intended for them.

In order to implement such a control system, information (address of goods to be shipped, size and shape of an assembly part, etc.) must be requested from each of the objects to be transported to different locations, with which the desired transport destination is linked. For this purpose, the mobile objects are equipped with response units in which information relating to the desired destinations can be stored for the respective object. At one point on the transport route there is an interrogation unit, which reads the information from its response units as the objects pass and transmits them to a central computer, which then takes over control of the transport route.

How the query unit AF and the response unit AW are constructed in principle can be seen in FIG. 1. The input of the response unit AW contains two resonant circuits, a first of which consists of an inductor L1 and a capacitor C connected in parallel with it, and a second of the inductor L1 which is formed of this capacitor C connected in parallel and a further inductor L2 connected in series . According to the invention, these two inductors are realized by a single induction coil provided with a tap.

The induction coil fulfills the task as a receiving antenna for one generated by the oscillator 01 of the interrogation unit AF and radiated carrier signal of frequency f 1 . The second resonance circuit composed of the inductances L1, L2 and the capacitance C is tuned to this frequency f 1 . A coupler K is connected to this second resonance circuit, which feeds part of the carrier signal of frequency f 1 to an input of a converter and modulator M and the other part to a rectifier D, which converts this signal component into a DC supply voltage VS for the electronic components of the response unit. If the response unit AW now receives a carrier signal of frequency f 1 as it passes the interrogation unit AF, the information stored in the memory S becomes a carrier signal of frequency f 2 with the aid of a modulator, which is generated by converting the carrier signal component of frequency f 1 with the signal an oscillator 02 connected to the converter / modulator M is formed, modulated.

The induction coil, which together with the capacitance C forms a resonance circuit tuned to exactly this frequency f 2 , sends the information signal to the interrogation unit AF.

The interrogation unit has the same resonance circuits tuned to the frequencies f 1 and f 2 as the response unit. The interrogation unit is expediently also equipped with only a single induction coil, which is both part of the first resonance circuit and part of the second resonance circuit. The information signal received by the interrogation unit via the induction coil reaches a demodulator DM, at the output of which the information can be tapped from the memory S of the response unit. The detected information is finally transmitted to a central computer, which then carries out the route control for the mobile objects.

It proves to be very advantageous that the response unit AW is provided with only one induction coil as an antenna for receiving the energy signal and for transmitting the information signal. 2, a very compact and easy-to-use design for the response unit AW is possible. The electronic circuit parts of the response unit are housed in a cuboid, flat housing, around the narrow sides of which the induction coil IS is wound. A trench-shaped indentation in the narrow sides of the housing gives the induction coil a secure hold.

At the front of the housing, a switch or keypad TF is arranged as an input unit (designated E in Fig. 1) for the memory. If a response unit is attached to a mobile object, the current information of the respective object can always be entered into the memory manually using the switch or keypad. The entry into the memory can also be done remotely by means of an opto or ultrasound transmitter. Instead of the keypad TF, the housing would then have to be provided with an opto or ultrasound receiving element. An optical display AZ on the front of the housing provides information about all or part of the memory content.

The information that is to be written into the memory can also be transmitted from the interrogation unit to the response unit by modulating this information onto the carrier signal in the interrogation unit . . Another external station can also transmit a carrier wirelessly or via a conductor that can be connected to the response unit and to which the information for the memory of the response unit is modulated.

Adhesive elements, e.g. Magnetic stripes are attached, which allow the response units to be quickly attached to a mobile object (railway car, container, etc.).
