Definitions
- the invention relates to a vacuum interrupter with switching pieces arranged to be movable relative to one another within an evacuated housing, at least one of which has a current supply element with a core and a conductor surrounding it with a helical current path.
- a vacuum interrupter of this type has become known from DE-OS 3 033 632.
- the helical current path generates a magnetic field that is dependent on the current and is effective when switching between the open contact pieces and has a favorable influence on the switching capacity.
- the advantageous properties, in particular of the axially directed magnetic fields in vacuum interrupters are offset by the difficulty in producing the helical current path in a technically effective and economically advantageous manner.
- the fastening of the helical conductor and the mutual support of its turns are difficult because the connecting means and supporting bodies that are suitable for this purpose are exposed to considerable thermal and mechanical stresses.
- thermal expansions and corresponding mechanical stresses occur, as well as mechanical shock forces and additional electrodynamic forces when switching.
- the object of the invention is to create a current supply element which is suitable for generating a magnetic field and which, with good effectiveness, is mechanically high-strength and economical to produce.
- this object is achieved in a vacuum interrupter of the type mentioned in that the core of the power supply member is made of a material with relatively low electrical conductivity and has a helical outer contour and that the conductor surrounding the core with a jacket made of a material Relatively good electrical conductivity is formed, which is made in one piece with the core or is firmly connected to the core without a space and which has a smooth cylindrical outer contour.
- the helical conductor is not formed by a separately manufactured coil. Rather, this conductor is created in that a helical core is supplemented by a conductor material to form a cylindrical body. This is the way to a non-cutting production of one-piece power supply members with the property of Indicated coil that behave like a solid part in mechanical terms.
- the desired magnetic effect of the current supply element can in principle be achieved equally with electrically conductive or non-conductive cores.
- cores made of metallic materials will be preferred, the conductivity of which is lower than the conductivity of the outer jacket.
- resistance materials can be used, the conductivity of which is several times lower than that of the copper in question for the sheath, but can be easily connected to it.
- the helical contour of the core can be realized in very different ways. Basically, it is only necessary to twist a rod with an angular cross-sectional shape around its longitudinal axis, it being possible to produce a current path with a fraction of a turn up to several turns.
- the number of parallel screw paths that are formed depends on the cross-sectional shape selected. Accordingly, rods with a polygonal or star-shaped cross section are particularly suitable.
- a number of methods known per se are suitable for producing the current supply elements consisting of core and jacket. For example, pouring can be beneficial Methods are used when the melting point of the core material is sufficiently higher than the melting point of the cladding material.
- the core can then be cast in a cylindrical shape to form the jacket with the electrically highly conductive material.
- the jacket material can also be applied to the core by extrusion. This process is less dependent on the melting points of the materials than the aforementioned casting.
- the highly conductive material for the formation of the jacket is applied to the core by powder metallurgy.
- the cladding material is in the form of metal powder, which is applied to the core by pressing in a mold.
- the coat layer formed in this way is then sintered into a solid body by heating.
- Figure 1 shows a vacuum interrupter with power supply members according to the invention in section.
- FIGS 2, 3, 4 and 5 show differently designed power supply elements.
- FIG. 6 shows a current supply element with an integrally formed switching piece, the currents that occur being indicated by arrows in order to illustrate the mode of operation.
- the vacuum interrupter 1 corresponds to a design known per se.
- the housing of the vacuum interrupter 1 is formed from a central metal cylinder 2 and ceramic insulating bodies 5 and 6 attached to it on both sides with the interposition of conical transition pieces 3 and 4.
- the metal cylinder 2 encloses the interacting switching pieces 7 and 8, to which rod-shaped power supply members 10 and 11 connect.
- the contact piece 7 with its current supply element 10 is arranged in a relatively fixed manner and for this purpose is firmly and vacuum-tightly connected to an end cap 12 of the insulating body 5.
- the vacuum interrupter 1 is provided with an upper fixed connecting pin 16 and a lower axially displaceable connecting pin 17.
- the current supply members 10 and 11 have a core and a jacket in such a design that a current flowing through generates an axially directed magnetic field. If the switching pieces 7 and 8 separated by a movement of the connecting bolt 17 in the direction of arrow 18 this magnetic field also penetrates the space between the contact pieces and influences the arc burning there.
- the direction of the magnetic field in the arc space depends on the winding direction of the helical current paths. If the direction of the turns is the same, the resulting magnetic field runs in the axis of the contact piece arrangement. If, on the other hand, the direction of the turns in both current supply elements is opposite, a radially directed magnetic field is obtained in the space between the contact pieces 7 and 8.
- the direction of the magnetic field in the space between the switching pieces can also be a mixture of both field shapes or can vary locally depending on the amount and direction.
- the current supply element 10 shown partially in FIG. 2 has a core 20 made of a material with a relatively low conductivity, for example an iron-containing, ie. H. ferromagnetic material.
- This core is surrounded by a jacket 21, the outer diameter of which corresponds to the edge dimension of the core 20.
- the jacket 21 is made of a material with relatively good conductivity, i. H. e.g. B. made of copper, and can be applied to the core 20 by one of the methods mentioned.
- the core 20 is a square bar with a square cross section, which is twisted about its longitudinal axis. This creates four helical current paths of the jacket 21 which are electrically connected in parallel.
- FIG. 3 shows a further current supply element 25 which, with the same outer diameter as the current supply element 10 in FIG. 2, has a core 26 with a smaller edge dimension.
- the jacket 27 is not divided into four separate parallel helical current paths in the same way as in the example according to FIG. 2.
- One in the power supply member 25 incoming current is nevertheless caused to flow around the core 26 in a helical shape, because this corresponds to the path of least resistance.
- a longitudinal current is superimposed on this screw current, which depends on the difference between the outer diameter of the jacket 27 and the edge dimension of the core 26 and on the electrical conductivity of the materials of these parts.
- the core 31 has a cross shape instead of a square cross section, the edge dimension of which corresponds to the outer diameter of the jacket 32. As can be seen from a comparison with FIG. 2, this also forms four regions of the sheath 32 that are wound in parallel in a helical shape and are connected in a helical manner. Due to the cross shape, however, the proportion of the relatively good conductive sheath material is greater than in FIG. 2. If the same electrical conductivities for sheath and core are assumed, the proportion according to FIG. 4 reduces the proportion of the pure longitudinal current compared to the screw current.
- a similar design shows the current supply member 35 in Figure 5.
- the core 36 has a star-shaped shape, the tips of the arms of the star lying on a circle with the diameter of the jacket 37.
- the cladding 37 is divided into five helical areas. It depends on the cross-sectional shape of the core 36 how large the proportions of the core 36 and the jacket 37 are in the total cross-section. In general, the proportion of the core cross section in the embodiment according to FIG. 5 will be smaller than in FIG. 2 but larger than in FIG. 4.
- FIG. 6 shows a current supply element 40 which is produced in one piece with a switching element 41.
- the contact piece 41 is designed as an unslotted flat contact. Subsequently applied is only a contact pad 42 made of an arc-resistant material, which at the same time has the property of a low breakaway current.
- i l in the figure 6 of the current supplying section 40 by flowing pure longitudinal current is referred to, which, as already explained, composed according to the selected shape of the core and the sheath of two components. One component is the current flowing through the core, while the other component is the pure longitudinal current flowing through the jacket.
- FIG. 6 shows four screw currents i s1, i s2 ' i s3 and is4 which can correspond to the screw currents occurring in FIGS. 2, 3 and 4. With a corresponding representation for FIG. 5, a fifth screw current would be added.
- the number of turns with which the current surrounds the core can differ in all cases. This depends on how much the core is twisted for a given length. This number of turns has a direct influence on the strength of the generated axial magnetic field.

Description
The invention relates to a vacuum interrupter with switching pieces arranged to be movable relative to one another within an evacuated housing, at least one of which has a current supply element with a core and a conductor surrounding it with a helical current path.
A vacuum interrupter of this type has become known from DE-OS 3 033 632. The helical current path generates a magnetic field that is dependent on the current and is effective when switching between the open contact pieces and has a favorable influence on the switching capacity. The advantageous properties, in particular of the axially directed magnetic fields in vacuum interrupters, are offset by the difficulty in producing the helical current path in a technically effective and economically advantageous manner. For example, the fastening of the helical conductor and the mutual support of its turns are difficult because the connecting means and supporting bodies that are suitable for this purpose are exposed to considerable thermal and mechanical stresses. In particular, thermal expansions and corresponding mechanical stresses occur, as well as mechanical shock forces and additional electrodynamic forces when switching.
It is already known to effect a helical current path in the course of a current supply element of a vacuum interrupter by making incisions on the circumference of the power supply member are offset from one another (DE-AS 1 282 768). However, this arrangement has limits in terms of its effectiveness in that the incisions cannot be made as deep as required with regard to the required mechanical strength of the power supply element. On the other hand, the production of incisions, even if they are straight and run perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the power supply element, is associated with a rather complex machining process. The cleaning and degassing of such machined parts creates additional problems.
Proceeding from this, the object of the invention is to create a current supply element which is suitable for generating a magnetic field and which, with good effectiveness, is mechanically high-strength and economical to produce.
According to the invention, this object is achieved in a vacuum interrupter of the type mentioned in that the core of the power supply member is made of a material with relatively low electrical conductivity and has a helical outer contour and that the conductor surrounding the core with a jacket made of a material Relatively good electrical conductivity is formed, which is made in one piece with the core or is firmly connected to the core without a space and which has a smooth cylindrical outer contour.
In the new power supply member, the helical conductor is not formed by a separately manufactured coil. Rather, this conductor is created in that a helical core is supplemented by a conductor material to form a cylindrical body. This is the way to a non-cutting production of one-piece power supply members with the property of Indicated coil that behave like a solid part in mechanical terms.
The desired magnetic effect of the current supply element can in principle be achieved equally with electrically conductive or non-conductive cores. In general, however, cores made of metallic materials will be preferred, the conductivity of which is lower than the conductivity of the outer jacket. For example, resistance materials can be used, the conductivity of which is several times lower than that of the copper in question for the sheath, but can be easily connected to it. It may also be advantageous to manufacture the core from a ferromagnetic material. Compared to the usual conductor materials for the sheath, this also has a sufficiently low electrical conductivity, but at the same time bundles the magnetic field and thereby increases the available magnetic induction in the space between the contact pieces.
The helical contour of the core can be realized in very different ways. Basically, it is only necessary to twist a rod with an angular cross-sectional shape around its longitudinal axis, it being possible to produce a current path with a fraction of a turn up to several turns. The number of parallel screw paths that are formed depends on the cross-sectional shape selected. Accordingly, rods with a polygonal or star-shaped cross section are particularly suitable.
A number of methods known per se are suitable for producing the current supply elements consisting of core and jacket. For example, pouring can be beneficial Methods are used when the melting point of the core material is sufficiently higher than the melting point of the cladding material. The core can then be cast in a cylindrical shape to form the jacket with the electrically highly conductive material.
The jacket material can also be applied to the core by extrusion. This process is less dependent on the melting points of the materials than the aforementioned casting.
As a further possibility for the production of current supply elements, a powder metallurgical process is available. Here, the highly conductive material for the formation of the jacket is applied to the core by powder metallurgy. The cladding material is in the form of metal powder, which is applied to the core by pressing in a mold. The coat layer formed in this way is then sintered into a solid body by heating.
In the above-mentioned processes, it was initially assumed; that only the power supply members are to be manufactured. As an advantageous embodiment of these methods, however, it is also possible to simultaneously mold the contact pieces with the current supply members. This is possible through an appropriate design of the casting or pressing molds used and has the advantage that separate manufacturing processes for the contact pieces and their connection to the rod-shaped power supply members are eliminated. Strength and current transfer are improved at the same time.
The invention is explained in more detail below on the basis of the exemplary embodiments illustrated in the drawing.
Figure 1 shows a vacuum interrupter with power supply members according to the invention in section.
Die Figuren 2, 3, 4 und 5 zeigen unterschiedlich ausgeführte Stromzuführungsglieder.Figures 2, 3, 4 and 5 show differently designed power supply elements.
Die Figur 6 zeigt ein Stromzuführungsglied mit angeformtem Schaltstück, wobei zur Veranschaulichung der Wirkungsweise die auftretenden Ströme mit Pfeilen bezeichnet sind.FIG. 6 shows a current supply element with an integrally formed switching piece, the currents that occur being indicated by arrows in order to illustrate the mode of operation.
The
The
In the case of the
A similar design shows the
As already mentioned in the introduction, different methods for producing the current supply elements are suitable net. If a casting method is selected, centering of the
