Definitions
- the invention relates to a device for the intermittent transport of a label carrier tape in a hand-held labeling device, with a transport carriage which can be pushed back and forth in the device along the label carrier tape, in which a pawl with a clamping surface is held in a force-fitting manner in contact with the label carrier tape in such a way that it is held at a movement of the transport carriage in one direction glides freely on the label carrier tape and, when the transport carriage moves in the other direction, the label carrier tape clamps against a contact surface with self-locking.
- Such a transport device is already known from DE-OS 19 44 857.
- the clamping surface is the end face of an elastic clamping piece, which is held non-positively in contact with the label carrier tape. If in the known device the transport carriage begins to move in the direction in which the pawl comes into self-locking engagement with the label carrier tape, the elastic clamping piece presses the carrier tape against the contact surface, and with the progressive increase in the tensile force exerted by the transport carriage on the carrier tape, which ultimately leads to actual transport of the carrier tape, there occurs an elastic deformation of the clamping piece, which results in a relative movement between the transport carriage and the carrier tape.
- This relative movement which is attributable to the elastic deformation of the clamping piece, depends on various, not precisely determinable conditions, for example on the elasticity of the clamping piece, which can vary depending on the operating temperature, or also on the speed at which the transport carriage is moved.
- the undesirable consequence of the relative movement between the transport carriage and the label carrier tape are slightly different transport routes, which have a particularly unfavorable effect if the labels are first printed before being dispensed from the hand-held labeling device.
- the exact positioning of the print on the label depends on the exact transport path of the label carrier tape, ie each label to be printed must be in exactly the same place within the device after carrying out a transport process.
- the invention has for its object to design a device of the type described in such a way that a very precise and above all exactly reproducible transport path of the label carrier tape is achieved with a simple structure.
- this object is achieved in that the clamping surface of the pawl is covered with sandpaper.
- the clamping surface of the pawl is covered with sandpaper.
- the clamping surface is completely in contact with the carrier tape, so that any relative movement is excluded.
- the still possible relative movement can only take place between the point in time at which the abrasive grain tips of the clamping surface begin to touch the carrier belt and the point in time at which the abrasive grains have completely penetrated the surface of the carrier belt.
- the abrasive grains have a very low height, the relative movement that is still possible is accordingly so small that it can be completely neglected for practical purposes.
- the abrasive paper is advantageously a corundum abrasive paper that is particularly abrasion-resistant and thus results in a long service life for the clamping surface.
- the hand-held labeling device shown in FIG. 1 serves to print self-adhesive labels and to apply them to articles of goods.
- the device contains a housing 1 to which a handle 2 is attached.
- the carrier tape 5 runs in the device from the shaft 3 first downward and then forward to a dispensing edge 7, at which the carrier tape 5 is deflected and guided to the rear end of the housing by a transport device 8.
- a pressure roller 9 is rotatably mounted in the housing, with which a label 6 'detached from the carrier tape and in the dispensing position can be glued to an object.
- An operating lever 10 is attached below the handle 2 and is rotatably mounted about an axis 11. Between the handle 2 and the operating lever 10 is one Spring 12 attached, which always tries to push the lever into the rest position shown in Fig. 1.
- a printing unit lever 13 In the housing 1 there is also a printing unit lever 13, which is also rotatably mounted about the axis 11.
- This printing unit lever 13 carries a printing unit 14, by means of which a self-adhesive label 6 located on a printing table 15 can be printed.
- a spring 17 is attached between an arm 16 of the operating lever 10 and the printing unit lever 13 and is used to transmit a movement of the operating lever 10 directed against the handle 2 to the printing unit lever 13. In the rest position shown in FIG. 1, the printing unit lever 13 is held in the raised position by a nose 18 on the operating lever 10.
- the transport device 8 is mounted in the housing 1 so that it can move between a rear end position and a front end position. In Fig. 1, the transport device 8 is in its rear end position.
- the transport device 8 contains a transport carriage 19, at the rear end of which two pins 20 each projecting to the side surfaces of the housing 1 are attached. These pins 20 slide in longitudinal slots 21 in side wall plates of the housing 1. The longitudinal slots 21 limit the path of the transport slide 19 to the front and to the rear.
- the transport device 8 includes a pawl 22 which is rotatably mounted about an axis 23 mounted in the transport carriage 19.
- a torsion spring 24 attached to the axis 23 tries to turn the pawl clockwise in the view of FIG. 1.
- a clamping surface 25 attached to the pawl 22 is held non-positively in contact with the carrier belt 5 which is guided through the transport carriage 19.
- the carrier tape 5 is supported by a bearing surface 26 attached to the transport carriage 22.
- the clamping surface 25 is coated with sandpaper, preferably with corundum sandpaper. Resin-bonded corundum sandpaper, in which the abrasive grains are embedded in synthetic resin, is particularly favorable.
- a further pawl 28 which likewise has a clamping surface 28a covered with corundum sandpaper and which interacts with a counter surface 29 on the housing.
- This pawl 28 is loaded by a torsion spring 30 so that it is held in contact with the support band 5 which is supported on the counter surface 29.
- the pawl 28 allows the carrier tape 5 to move toward the exit point 27 while preventing movement of the carrier tape in the other direction.
- the self-adhesive label 6 printed immediately beforehand by the printing unit 14 detaches from the carrier tape 5 and reaches the dispensing position, that is to say the position which the label 6 'in FIG. 1 assumes. In this position, the self-adhesive label 6 'can be attached to an object by unrolling the pressure roller 9 on the object.
- the transport device 8 is in its rear end position, which it assumes after it has brought a self-adhesive label which has been printed on the printing table 15 into the dispensing position.
- the transport device 8 is in its front end position, which it assumes when the operating lever 10 is fully pulled against the handle 2 and the print head 14 is currently printing a self-adhesive label on the printing table 15.
- the path length of the transport device 8 determined by the length of the longitudinal slots 21 corresponds exactly to the length of a self-adhesive label 6 plus an overlap provided for safety reasons.
- the transport device 8 If, after reaching the end position shown in FIG. 3, the transport device 8 returns to its initial position due to the release of the operating lever 10, the pawl 21 moves from its release position shown in FIG. 3, in which it slides freely on the surface of the carrier tape, into its in position Fig. 2 shown clamping position.
- the torsion spring 24 ensures that the pawl 22 passes immediately after the movement reversal of the transport device 8 in the self-locking clamping position, so the carrier tape is moved exactly the length of a label.
- the clamping surface is coated with sandpaper, which results in a very precise engagement of the clamping surface on the surface of the carrier tape.
- the abrasive paper pad on the clamping surface 25 has the property of hardly accepting the adhesives usually used in self-adhesive labels.
- Adhesive residues which are deposited on the contact surface 26 during the course of the operation of the device and which can also be present on the back of the carrier tape 5 coming into contact with the clamping surface 25, therefore hardly lead to contamination of the clamping surface 25 clamping surface 25 remain no K lebstoffreste stick, it can not happen that the clamping surface sticks to the contact surface 26 25, when the device is again empty and no carrier tape is threaded. Such sticking would be extremely undesirable, since then a new carrier tape could no longer be easily inserted into the device.
- the carrier tapes currently used have relatively smooth surfaces, the wear on the clamping surface due to friction cannot be neglected.
- the abrasive paper covering on the clamping surface 25 has proven to be very stable, so that a hand-held labeling device equipped in this way remains ready for use for a long time without the positioning accuracy deteriorating as a result of a decrease in the engagement of the clamping surface 25 on the carrier tape 5.

Description
The invention relates to a device for the intermittent transport of a label carrier tape in a hand-held labeling device, with a transport carriage which can be pushed back and forth in the device along the label carrier tape, in which a pawl with a clamping surface is held in a force-fitting manner in contact with the label carrier tape in such a way that it is held at a movement of the transport carriage in one direction glides freely on the label carrier tape and, when the transport carriage moves in the other direction, the label carrier tape clamps against a contact surface with self-locking.
Such a transport device is already known from DE-OS 19 44 857. In this known device, the clamping surface is the end face of an elastic clamping piece, which is held non-positively in contact with the label carrier tape. This relative movement, which is attributable to the elastic deformation of the clamping piece, depends on various, not precisely determinable conditions, for example on the elasticity of the clamping piece, which can vary depending on the operating temperature, or also on the speed at which the transport carriage is moved. The undesirable consequence of the relative movement between the transport carriage and the label carrier tape are slightly different transport routes, which have a particularly unfavorable effect if the labels are first printed before being dispensed from the hand-held labeling device. The exact positioning of the print on the label depends on the exact transport path of the label carrier tape, ie each label to be printed must be in exactly the same place within the device after carrying out a transport process.
The invention has for its object to design a device of the type described in such a way that a very precise and above all exactly reproducible transport path of the label carrier tape is achieved with a simple structure.
According to the invention, this object is achieved in that the clamping surface of the pawl is covered with sandpaper. At In this embodiment of the device according to the invention, there is practically no longer any relative movement between the transport carriage and the label carrier tape after the pawl has come into engagement with the carrier tape in a self-locking manner. Very quickly after the self-locking engagement of the clamping surface on the carrier tape surface begins, the clamping surface is completely in contact with the carrier tape, so that any relative movement is excluded. The still possible relative movement can only take place between the point in time at which the abrasive grain tips of the clamping surface begin to touch the carrier belt and the point in time at which the abrasive grains have completely penetrated the surface of the carrier belt. However, since the abrasive grains have a very low height, the relative movement that is still possible is accordingly so small that it can be completely neglected for practical purposes.
The abrasive paper is advantageously a corundum abrasive paper that is particularly abrasion-resistant and thus results in a long service life for the clamping surface.

The hand-held labeling device shown in FIG. 1 serves to print self-adhesive labels and to apply them to articles of goods. The device contains a
An
The
Near the
When the
If, after reaching the end position shown in FIG. 3, the
The abrasive paper pad on the clamping
Although the carrier tapes currently used have relatively smooth surfaces, the wear on the clamping surface due to friction cannot be neglected.
