Definitions
- dispersions and suspensions are usually produced in cylindrical or conical, vertically standing containers, which can be open or closed at the top, by filling in the required liquid at once or successively, then with constant stirring using a stirrer (the so-called Dissolvers) slowly and continuously adds the substance to be dispersed or suspended.
- the agitator is driven with a small number of revolutions.
- the actual deaglomeration and dispersion are carried out at an increased speed of the dissolver.
- the viscosity of the liquid and the demands placed on the quality of the dispersion or suspension it takes around 10 times more time to enter the solids than for the actual dispersion process at high speed.
- this method has the major disadvantage that to feed a mill with a passage of, for example, 1000 lt / h, not only two correspondingly large dissolver tubs, in which one works alternately and the output of which is connected to the mill inlet one after the other by means of a pump, but also the space to set up these vats and the time to clean them when changing products.
- the aim of the present invention is now to avoid all of these disadvantages due to the batchwise operation by providing a continuously operating device and a method for producing a dispersion or suspension.
- the device according to the invention has a closed, here horizontal-axis cylindrical container, designated as a whole by 1, although it is not absolutely necessary. that its axis la runs horizontally, it can also be slightly inclined. However, the container must not be arranged so that an axis la is perpendicular or forms an angle with the vertical that is less than 45 °.
- the two end covers of the container are labeled lb and lc. In the vicinity of the cover 1b, the outlet connection le, to which the outlet line lf is connected, is located in the cylindrical jacket ld.
- a is only very schematic in the drawing indicated and designated 2 bearing for the tube mill shaft 3, which is sealed to the outside by a stuffing box 4 or another seal.
- the shaft 4 is provided with a drive wheel 5 at its outer short end. In the container, it extends to the vicinity of the lid lb. Several stirring elements 6 are attached to it. One exemplary embodiment of such a stirring element is shown in FIGS. 2 and 3. In the S tirndeckel 1c the feed line 7 opens, whereby it is readily possible to place several feed lines.
- the stirring element shown in FIG. 2 and designated as a whole by 8 essentially consists of a toothed disk, the toothing being sawtooth-shaped and being formed by twelve teeth 8a.
- the edge of the longer surface of each tooth is bent laterally, namely with one tooth on one side and with the adjacent tooth on the other side.
- the second exemplary embodiment of a stirrer shown in FIG. 3, which is designated as a whole by 9, is formed by a circular disk.
- This is provided with quadrangular holes 9a, which are arranged such that the disc center of gravity is in the axis of rotation.
- the holes are formed by bending individual tabs 9b out of the plane of the disk, alternately to one side and the other. These lobes form flat wings that are perpendicular to the plane of the disk and whose plane forms an obtuse angle with the radius line leading from it to the center.
- the direction of rotation of the disk is indicated by arrow 9c.
- the disc should therefore be rotated in the direction that results in a radial movement of the liquid outwards.
- the embodiment of a stirrer shown in FIG. 4, which is designated as a whole by 10, has the shape of a disk with an essentially circular circumferential line.
- the outer part of the disk is divided by slots 10b opening into the circumferential line 10a into tapered tines 10c which extend in the tangential direction. If, as in the exemplary embodiment shown, there is an even number of tines, these tines can alternately be bent on one side and the other, or also interlaced.
- the direction of rotation of the disc is designated 10d.
- the device described above is first filled with the liquid in which the solid is to be dispersed or suspended. Then liquid and at the same time the solid to be dispersed or suspended are continuously fed through the feed pipe 7 or through several separate feed pipes with a rapidly rotating shaft, it being of course also possible to feed several solids, either separately or as a mixture.
- the resulting dispersion or suspension leaves the device through the outlet line 1f connected to the outlet connection le as a continuous liquid flow and can be fed to a continuous further processing stage.
- annular diaphragms within the cylinder jacket ld between the individual stirring elements, the passage opening of which can be larger or smaller than the largest diameter of the stirring elements.

Abstract
Description
To date, dispersions and suspensions are usually produced in cylindrical or conical, vertically standing containers, which can be open or closed at the top, by filling in the required liquid at once or successively, then with constant stirring using a stirrer (the so-called Dissolvers) slowly and continuously adds the substance to be dispersed or suspended. The agitator is driven with a small number of revolutions. After the desired mixing ratio has been reached, the actual deaglomeration and dispersion are carried out at an increased speed of the dissolver. Depending on the nature of the solids, the viscosity of the liquid and the demands placed on the quality of the dispersion or suspension, it takes around 10 times more time to enter the solids than for the actual dispersion process at high speed. For example, in the production of 6000 liters of a suspension, it takes about 4 hours to introduce the solids, but only 20-25 minutes for the actual dispersion. Only then will the suspension or dispersion be reused. If, which is often the case, as a further processing, for example If the grinding process is provided in an agitator ball mill, the batch or dispersion is continuously allowed to flow through the agitator ball mill by its own gravity or by means of a metering pump. However, this method has the major disadvantage that to feed a mill with a passage of, for example, 1000 lt / h, not only two correspondingly large dissolver tubs, in which one works alternately and the output of which is connected to the mill inlet one after the other by means of a pump, but also the space to set up these vats and the time to clean them when changing products. The aim of the present invention is now to avoid all of these disadvantages due to the batchwise operation by providing a continuously operating device and a method for producing a dispersion or suspension.

- Figure 2 is a plan view of a first embodiment of an agitator and
- FIGS. 3 and 4 are top views of a second and a third exemplary embodiment of an agitator
As can be seen from FIG. 1, the device according to the invention has a closed, here horizontal-axis cylindrical container, designated as a whole by 1, although it is not absolutely necessary. that its axis la runs horizontally, it can also be slightly inclined. However, the container must not be arranged so that an axis la is perpendicular or forms an angle with the vertical that is less than 45 °. The two end covers of the container are labeled lb and lc. In the vicinity of the
The stirring element shown in FIG. 2 and designated as a whole by 8 essentially consists of a toothed disk, the toothing being sawtooth-shaped and being formed by twelve teeth 8a. The edge of the longer surface of each tooth is bent laterally, namely with one tooth on one side and with the adjacent tooth on the other side.
The second exemplary embodiment of a stirrer shown in FIG. 3, which is designated as a whole by 9, is formed by a circular disk. This is provided with
The embodiment of a stirrer shown in FIG. 4, which is designated as a whole by 10, has the shape of a disk with an essentially circular circumferential line. The outer part of the disk is divided by
For the preparation of a dispersion or a suspension, the device described above is first filled with the liquid in which the solid is to be dispersed or suspended. Then liquid and at the same time the solid to be dispersed or suspended are continuously fed through the
Of course, it is possible to make further changes to the device described above. Thus, for example, one could arrange annular diaphragms within the cylinder jacket ld between the individual stirring elements, the passage opening of which can be larger or smaller than the largest diameter of the stirring elements.
One could furthermore design the cylinder jacket with a double shell and, if desired, also provide the above-mentioned diaphragms with cavities in order to heat or cool the material to be processed during the production process. Furthermore, it would be possible to also support the
