The drive motor is supported by a beam-like structure arranged diametrically above the kitchen pan (5) and intended to be fixed on the surface of the upward looking edge (6) of the kitchen pan and two lid halves (10, 11) of the kitchen pan are supported along the two longitudinal edges of the beam-like structure using hinges (13, 14).

Description

STIRRING DEVICE FOR COOKING POTS, ETC
Machine-powered stirrers are nowadays generally used together with cooking pots for large catering establishments. Several different types of such stirrers, based on different principles, are currently available on the market. It has been found, however, that the stirr.ers have not actually been widely used in practice, probably because they have been difficult and cumbersome to handle. In point of fact, it has been found that it is difficult to get at the interior of the cooking pot, the reason being that the stirring device has been in the way and/or that the lid of the cooking pot has been in the way.
The present invention affords a simple and effective solution to problems of this nature. In addition to the stirring device according to the invention being extremely practically supported, it also permits easy access to the interior of the cooking pot.
The characterizing features of the invention are evident from the accompanying patent claims.
One embodiment of the invention will now be described in more detail and with reference to the accompanying drawings where Fig. 1 shows a section of a side view of a cooking pot arrangement in which the invention is applied and Fig. 2 shows the device according to Fig. 1 from above, with one of the covering lids of the cooking pot partly cut away. The device illustrated consists of two stands 1, 2, supporting a tiltable cooking pot 5 by means of journals 3, 4. Disposed diametrally across the cooking pot 5 on its upper, ring-shaped edge 6 is a beam structure 7 supporting drive motor unit consisting of a gear housing 8 and a motor 9attached thereto. A casing over assembly 8, 9 is intimated by means of broken lines. The beam structure 7 also supportstwo lids 10, 11 attached by means of hinges 13 and 14 respectively. The result is that the stirring device has become highly practicable and easy to handle, since the contents of the cooking pot can easily be reached after opening one or both of the lid halves. Extending vertically downwards from the gear housing 8 is a shaft 16 to support the stirring means. This shaft is secured to a hollow shaft 17 which extends down to the bottom of the cooking pot where it is connected with a sleeve 18 which is welded to a U-shaped tube structure 19 by means of flange plates 20. The U-shaped structure 19 supports fivescraping means 21-25. Mounted rotatably on the shaft 16, which in itself is a hollow shaft, is a sleeve 26 provided with cross-beams 27 protruding on either side and passing into two shanks 28 which by means of bolted joints 29 each support one stirrer part 30, 31. The means 30 and 31 are supported by the cross-beams 27. They are detachable from cross-beams 32, 33 by means of screw joints 35, 36. The scra ping means 21-25 are made of an elastic plastic material and are movably secured in an obliquely movable position by means of the fittings 37 attached to the U-shaped tube structure 19 as evident from Fig.2. The stirring means 19, 20 and 30, 31 are arranged to move as evident from Fig.2 in the directions indicated by arrows 39 and 40 respectively. It is evident from Fig. 1 that the scraping means 21-25 are displaceably disposed in relation to one another so that each of them scrapes off its own circular surface section of the interioe of the cooking pot. As is also clearly evident from Fig. 1 , the stirring means 30, 31 are elaborated as frame openings supporting crosswise- disposed plates 41 and 42 respectively. These plates a r e also arranged offset so that each of them influences its own portion of the mass during the rotation at the same time as turbulence is accomplished. The said crosswise plates 41 and 42 can per se be positioned at an angle in relation to the direction of rotation in order to attain the desired direction composant of the stirred mass. The adjustability can be performed so that they a re preset prior to each stirring task, depending on factors such as the viscosity of the mass.
The device functions in the following manner. When the means 19 with its scraping means 21-25 moves in the direction of the arrow 39, a carrying force is exerted on the mass in the direction of the said arrow 39. At the same time, a motional composant directed towards the i side of the pot will arise through the obliquity of the scraping means 21-25. Means 30 and 31, in contrast, move in the direction of the arrow 40, i.e. in the opposite direction, so that turbulence occurs when the flows of liquid in opposing directions meet. In practice, this means that the whole of the liquid mass, largely through the opposing directions of the influencing forces of the two stirring means, will not participate in the rotation.
The means 22, 23 and 24 acting along the bottom will , through the oblique scraper means, cause mass contained therein to move upwards towards the central parts of the pot This internal motion is deflected by the means 30, 31 so that a radial direction of motion is imparted to the said part of the mass. The movement of the mass will thus take place essentially in a radial plane in the cooking pot, so that mass located at the bottom will be pressed up towards the central sections and be thrown out by the means 30 and 31 towards the periphery of the pot, where they will be hit by an opposingly directed notional composant accomplished by the means 19 with the scrapers 21-25, whereby turbulence is formed.
This design demonstrates a plurality of practical advantages. The fixed beam structure 7 across the pot serve in a stable manner as fastenings for the openable lids 10 an 11. Through the shown openability, it is easy to get at the interior of the pot and also easy to get at the stirring means for inspection and dismantling. As evident from Fig. 2, the lid 10 is provided with a number of holes 43 along on peripheral edge for pouring off liquid from the cooking mass. In order to prevent this lid from opening, a locking arm 44 is provided whi ch can mesh with the run-off flange of the pot.
The gear house arrangement is appropriately such that the pinions incorporated therein can be altered so that different relative speeds can be obtained between means 30, 31 and 19-25. The gear housing is appropriately provided with a variator for adjustment of the speed and an actuator for this is disposed on the gear housing and has reference numeral 46. In speed regulation, the speed of both stirring means will be regulated proportionally as the gear ratio is fixed.
The entire cooking pot can be tilted to empty its contents around the journals 3, 4 in a known manner.
It is not necessary for the stirring means to have the illustrated for m within the inventive concept. These can be varied in numerous ways.
