Abstract

A tip-off cap and closure for a container, for closure thereof, and sealing of the contents therein. The cap includes a narrow elongated exterior top portion, a peripherally enlarged open bottom skirt at the bottom thereof, and a container closure for an access opening, operatively disposed within the skirt and operatively integrated therewith. The integrated cap and closure are conjointly removable from the container, to open the container for access to the liquid therein, by application of a lateral tilting force against the narrow, elongated cap exterior at a position thereof remote from connection of the cap to the container. Removal of the integrated cap and closure seal means from the container is normally effected without breakage of the material forming the container. The cap and closure act as a unit assembly when being removed. The construction is designed to generally assimilate currently known and used glass ampules for medicaments, in configuration and use, and to have a similar opening procedure thereto.

Description

The invention relates to a closure according to the preamble of the first claim.

Derartige Behälterverschlüsse sind bereits be- - kannt (z.B. Such container closures are already known (e.g. US-A-21 80 055), but still have a number of disadvantages. These are particularly serious if the containers provided with the closures are used for medical purposes, e.g. for storing pharmaceutical preparations, serum and. Like. The aforementioned US-A-21 80 055 shows a kind of crown cap closure, which is provided with a handle part, which serves as an opening tool for this closure. A sealing washer is located between the cap of this known closure, which is made of elastic material, and the mouth of the associated bottle. This is with the resilient capsule, e.g. connected by shaping and / or gluing in such a way that this sealing washer is easily removed when the end capsule is removed. Such closures are not quite suitable as a secure closure for pharmaceutical containers, where simple handling is desired and the risk of contamination and glass breakage should be avoided as far as possible. A bottle stopper is also already known, which has a removable end capsule made of elastic material with an opening tool, the end capsule likewise having elastically resilient, inward-facing recesses at its lower edge, approximately in the radial direction, which engage under the rim of the container in the closed position (US -A-2 754 989). There, a cork disk or the like is provided as a sealing insert, which, however, is connected to the end capsule in such a way that it is easily removed when the end capsule is removed. The opening tool connected to the end capsule has an arm oriented approximately parallel to the top of the end capsule with a finger button, which in the operating position lies outside the rim of the container. When the opening pressure is exerted, this creates a tilting moment on the end capsule, causing it to separate from the container. Apart from the fact that the lever and the key, which form the opening tool here, are only slightly stable in the space given by the bottle mouth, this closure also has the disadvantages already mentioned in connection with US-A-21 80 055.

It is therefore the task of creating a closure for a pharmaceutical container in which a secure closure of the container contents is ensured and at the same time the opening of the closure is simple and the risk of a container breakage and contamination are minimized.

To achieve this object, it is proposed in a closure of the type mentioned at the outset that the notch or slot-shaped molding of the lower free end of the hem part of the end capsule is designed to be elastic in such a way that the part slides up on part of its circumference when the end capsule is tilted on the rim of the container and engages like a hook directly under the underside of the flange of the stopper that is not firmly connected to the end capsule, so that it and the end capsule can be removed from the container together.

As a result, the container can be opened, including the removal of a stopper that is not firmly connected to the end capsule, in a simple manner and without additional auxiliary tools, direct contact of the stopper by the operator being avoided and the risk of contamination of the liquid in the container being considerably reduced . It is also not possible to replace the end capsule.

Further training is listed in the subclaims. The embodiment according to claim 2 has the advantage that the end capsule is easy to grasp and the handle part forms a favorable lever arm for tilting the end capsule sideways. In the one-piece design according to claim 3, not only is it more economical to produce, but the risk that the handle part tears off is also avoided.

  • Fig. 5 is a partial view of the lower hem part of the end capsule with score lines inserted therein.

A container, bottle or spray ampoule (FIGS. 1 to 3) is referred to below as “container 10”. It has an opening 12. On its circumference there is a rim 14 of the container 10 in a known manner. The entire closure 16 has an end capsule 17 and a stopper 28. This consists of rubber, elastomer or the like. Elastic material. The end capsule 17 is made of metal, for example aluminum. It is designed as an opening tool for the stopper 28 and has at its lower edge an indentation 26 which is elastically flexible in the radial direction and points inwards and which engages under the rim 14 of the container 10 in the closed position (FIG. 1). The end capsule 17 has a tubular grip part 18 which is elongated upwards and which is compressed at 20 at its upper end, as a result of which a grip bead 22 is formed. At the end capsule 17 Accordingly, there is a handle part 18 in the form of a handle-like outer end part.

The one-piece end capsule 17 with its grip part 18 consists of a drawn aluminum part. At its lower end, the grip part 18 merges into a hem part 24 which is enlarged in circumference. Its lower edge is flanged at 48 to the indentation 26. The plug 28 has a flange 30, the outer circumference of which corresponds approximately to the inner clear cross section of the hem part 24. The stopper neck 32 tightly closes the opening 12 of the container 10. As can be clearly seen from FIG. 5, notches 34 or slots are arranged in the region of the later molding 26 of the lower free end of the hem part 24 of the end capsule 17, as a result of which corresponding hem segments 36 are formed there.

According to the invention, this indentation 26, which has the notches 34 or slots, of the lower free end of the hem part 24 of the end capsule 17 is designed such that the indentation 26 slides up on part of its circumference when the end capsule 17 is tilted on the edge bead 14 (FIG. 2). Thereafter, this indentation can hook-like grip directly under the underside 46 of the flange 30 of the stopper not firmly connected to the end capsule 17 (FIG. 3), so that the stopper 28 and the end capsule 17 can be removed from the container 10 together.

The closure 16 is handled as follows: after the container 10 has been filled, it is closed with the stopper 28, the end capsule 17 is placed over the stopper flange 30 and the edge bead 14, and the lower hem part 24 is crimped to form the indentation 26. In Fig. 1, the handling of the closure 16 is indicated with the help of a user's hands indicated by dash-dotted lines. This grips the handle part 18 and tilts it according to the arrow 38 into the position 18 A. At least one hem segment 36 A remains below the lower edge 40 of the edge bead 14 (FIG. 2). This segment 36 A essentially forms a fulcrum for the end capsule 17, the handle part 18 of which forms a favorable lever arm. When the end capsule 17 is tilted further (FIG. 3), a section of the indentation 26 or a few hem segments 36 B reach above the edge bead 14, spring back radially somewhat and, under one or more hem segments 36 B, reach under the flange 30 of the stopper 28 during further tilting and lifting off the end capsule 17, the indentation 26 lifts the plug 28 with its insert part 44 out of the area from the container. In the closure 16 according to the invention, it is also advantageous that no adhesive connection is necessary between the stopper 28 and the end capsule 17, which on the one hand also reduces the risk of contamination and on the other hand reduces the manufacturing outlay. The notches 34 or slots facilitate tipping when opening. From FIG. 4, when comparing the upturned position shown in solid lines with the position of the closure capsule 17 in a tilted, dash-dotted line, the slight deformation of the hem segments 36 B during the tilting can be clearly seen on the deflection boundary line 42.
