Die Fig. 1 zeigt einen aus einem Formkasten ausgedrückten Sandballen 1, der ein Gussstück 2 umschliesst. Auf der Höhe der Teilungsebene 3 werden Lanzenrohre 4 in den Sandballen eingeschoben. Die Lanzenrohre sind innen hohl und weisen an der Spitze Oeffnungen 5 in ihrer Mantelfläche auf. Die Lanzenrohre werden in den Sandballen, bis in die Nähe des Gussstückes hineingesteckt. Dann wird ein fluides Medium unter Druck in die Lanzenrohre eingeleitet. Das Medium entweicht durch die Oeffnungen 5 in die Sandmasse und löst diese vom Gussstück. Die Trennung der Sandmasse vom Gussstück wird durch die totgebrannte Schicht, erleichtert. Diese Schicht umgibt das Gussstück unmittelbar und ist bröckelig. Als fluides Medium wird vorzugsweise ein gasförmiges Medium wie z.B. Luft verwendet. Die Fig. 2 zeigt beispielsweise eine definierte translatorische Bewegung der abgegossenen Sandballen 1, die der dem Verfahrenszweck dienenden Vorrichtung zugeführt werden. Selbstverständlich ist auch eine andere Zuführbewegung denkbar z.B. eine rotatorische. Wird das Auspacken in verschiedenen Stufen vorgenommen, so wird mittels der Lanzenrohre der Anguss 6 auf die beschriebene Art vom Sand befreit, so dass das Gussstück am Anguss gefasst und zum Kühlbahnhof transportiert werden kann. Dann erfolgt eine langsame Abkühlung im Sand. Danach wird der Restballen um das Gussstück mit Hilfe weiterer Lanzenrohre entfernt, wenn das Gussstück eine Temperatur unterhalb der kritischen Abkühltemperatur erreicht. Die in den Sandballen eindringenden Lanzen weisen bezüglich des Gussstückes eine Ausrichtwirkung auf, so dass auch Gussstücke, die ihre Lage im Kühlbahnhof durch abbröckelnden Sand in Höhe und Seitenlage verändert haben, noch gefasst werden können.
