Abstract

In this projector with coloured screens which are interposed selectively on the light beam from a light source and are mounted on at least one rotary disc moved by a drive device, each disc (1) comprises exclusively three coloured sectors (2, 3, 4), in which one colour (generally white) is common to all the discs; the drive device of each disc is associated with a control device so as to rotate the disc by an increment corresponding to the passage of the coloured sector traversed by the light beam to the new coloured sector selected to be traversed by the light beam, through the shortest angular path, by virtue of which the passage from one common different colour to another colour, different from the common colour, takes place without going via the common colour. <IMAGE>

Description

The present invention relates to a projector with colored screens selectively interposed on the light beam of a light source and mounted on at least one rotating disc driven by a motor device.

Various types of projectors with interposed colored screens are known in the field of stage lighting or the like.

In order not to prohibitively multiply the number of projectors used, each projector must be able to selectively project several colors, including in general the color white. On the other hand, it is requested by users that the transition between two colors is done without letting appear "white" (or any other color deemed undesirable).

This has been possible in the context of projectors, the colored filters of which are selectively interposed, by means of a jack, on the path of the light beam. Unfortunately, this type of projector proved to be noisy and could not, therefore, give full satisfaction to the users.

The object of the invention is to overcome the drawbacks encountered so far by proposing a projector of the type already mentioned, silent, and allowing a change of colors without intermediate "white".

This object is achieved, in accordance with the invention, in that each disc comprises exclusively three colored sectors, one color of which is common to all the discs, and that the drive device of each disc is associated with a control device so as to make turn the disc by an increment corresponding to the passage of the colored sector crossed by the light beam to the new colored sector chosen to be crossed by the light beam by the angular path the shorter, whereby the transition from a color different from the common color to another color, different from the common color, is done without going through the common color.

This color common to all discs is, generally, the white color, and it is this color which we want to avoid the appearance between two other colors. However, you may find that another color is undesirable for transitions.

The number of discs of the projector, discs placed either completely one behind the other, or so as to simply superimpose at least one sector of each disc at the height of the light beam, depends on the number of colors desired for the projector. Thus, for a projector that must be able to project white light, the presence of a disc allows the projection of two colors in addition to white, the presence of two discs allows the projection of four pure colors, in addition to white plus four colors of combinations, and, in general, n discs allow the projection of 2n pure colors in addition to white, without counting the 2 n colors of combinations.

Par ailleurs, le fait qu'on ait choisi un dispositif à mouvement rotatif entraîne un fonctionnement silencieux contrairement aux dispositifs à mouvement linéaire (par vérins pneumatiques ou autres).Furthermore, the fact that a device with rotary movement has been chosen results in silent operation unlike linear movement devices (by pneumatic cylinders or the like).

Thus, according to the invention, thanks to the fact that each disc comprises three sectors and only three, and that the discs can rotate in one direction or the other so that the change of the sector interposed in the light beam to another sector , necessarily neighboring by construction, is done by the shortest path, one is sure to be able to pass from one color to another without going through the white color occupying one of the three sectors.

In other words, the invention resides in the fact that only three colors, including white, have been placed on each disc, generally in a regular manner (that is to say on three sectors of 120 °) although that it is not an obligation, and that, moreover, the rotation of the disc for the change of colors is done in increments of 120 ° (if the arrangement is regular) positively or negatively to reach the new color.

The systems enabling the motor system of each disc to be controlled so that it causes the shortest rotation in angular measurement intended to set up the new screen chosen (that is to say, in fact to choose the direction of disc rotation) are numerous and known in themselves.

Thus, according to a first embodiment, the drive motor of the disc and its associated control device, consist of three electromagnetic coils distributed around a central core integral with the axis of the disc, the supply of these coils being done selectively using a keyboard. According to this system, the shorter angular path is always taken, inherently in the very design of the system.

While, in this first embodiment, the driving device and the control system are closely combined, more conventional driving devices can be designed.

Thus, the disk drive device can comprise a stepping motor and a peripheral drive roller for the disk, or else a motor coupled directly or indirectly to the axis of the disk. The first solution is less bulky when the projector has several successive discs.

The control of the rotation (and / or the position) of the disc, acting through suitable electronics on the control in one direction or the other of the motor, can be done by optical reading, by clock, by potentiometer or other.

The invention and its advantages will be better understood on reading the description of some exemplary embodiments, made with reference to the appended drawings in which:
  • - Figure 1 shows, in schematic front view; a first embodiment;
  • - Figure 2 shows, in schematic front view a second embodiment;
  • - Figure 3 shows, in schematic front view, a third embodiment;
  • - Figure 4 shows, in schematic side view a fourth embodiment;
  • - Figure 5 shows, in schematic side view a fifth embodiment.

La fermeture des interrupteurs peut être commandée manuellement ou par programme.FIG. 1 shows a disc 1 comprising three sectors 2, 3, 4 regularly distributed and entirely or partially occupied by colored screens 5, 6, 7 one of which, for example 5, is white in color (deemed undesirable for transitions). A light beam, not shown, crosses one of the three sectors. The disc 1 can rotate freely on its axis 8. Three electromagnetic coils 9, 10, 11 are arranged fixed around the axis 8, distributed at 120 °. These coils are connected, on the one hand to earth O and, on the other hand, to a common supply A through three conductors 12, 13, 14 interrupted by switches 15, 16, 17. These switches are controlled from conventionally by a selective keyboard, the closing of a switch automatically unlocking the previously closed switch. In this way, only one coil can be supplied at a time, and the core formed by the axis comes orient themselves relative to this coil, so as to define one of the three possible positions of the disc. The closing of another switch leads to the supply of another coil and therefore the displacement of the core with respect to this coil automatically by the shortest angular path to its new position. The closing of the switches can be controlled manually or by program.

According to Figure 2, the disc 1 pivots about its axis 8 under the action of a peripheral roller 18 driven by a motor 19. The control of this motor 19 in one direction or the other is done through conventional electronics 20 in response to manual or programmed positioning instructions on the one hand, and to the result of a digital count indicating the position, carried out by means of a photoelectric cell 21 detecting the passage of a light beam in holes 22 distributed over the entire periphery 23 of the disc 1.

According to FIG. 3, a clock 24 replaces the optical control for controlling the motor 19.

According to FIG. 4, the axis 8 of the disc 1 is coupled on the one hand to the motor 19 supported by a chassis 25, and, on the other hand, to a feedback potentiometer 26, also supported by the chassis 25, whose disc position indications are transmitted to the electronics 20 for controlling the motor 19.

The assembly of FIG. 5 shows several disks 1a, 1b and 1c mounted on axes 8a, 8b, 8c, aligned on the right 27 and coupled to feedback potentiometers 26a, 26b, 26c for the control of their rotation. The potentiometers are supported by supports 27a, 27b, 27c which also carry the motors 19 with rollers 18. A light beam 28 successively crosses the three discs la, Ib, lc, and the selective interposition of the colored filters allows obtaining, in addition to the white color that carries a filter of each disc, six pure colors and eight combination colors.

We therefore see that the projector of the invention is a compact projector, silent thanks to its design and that it avoids unwanted whites when switching from one color to another.

It will also be noted that the simplicity of design of the device of the invention is accompanied by great simplicity in the wiring: each motor requires a positive wire and a negative wire, a common neutral wire being able to be provided for all the discs. . Thus, for six pure colors plus one white, the cabling of a device according to the invention comprises only seven wires (for the embodiment of FIG. 5), while that of a conventional device with six controlled filters by cylinders requires more.
