- LA RUE US patent - A - 3,527,177
- HAPGOOD US Patent - A - 3,915,104
- An object of the present invention is to provide means which make it possible to use a fan for circulating fresh air in the intermediate space between the two tanks and for simultaneously sucking the fumes without the fumes passing through the fan and while maintaining the combustion chamber in depression.
- Another object of the present invention is to provide an incinerator equipped with relatively simple and inexpensive burners which make it possible to vary the quantity of fuel used as a function of the calorific value of solid waste and as a function of the flow rate and the calorific value of liquid effluents.
- the incinerators according to the invention are of the known type comprising a vertical combustion chamber equipped with a grate at the bottom, an airlock for loading solid waste, a smoke evacuation duct located at the top and at least one burner, which combustion chamber comprises two metal tanks which define between them an annular space in which fresh air is circulated.
- An incinerator comprises, at the bottom, a box in which a fan blows fresh air and said annular space communicates, by its lower end with said box and by its upper end with an annular air ejector which surrounds the front end of said smoke evacuation duct and which sucks the fumes by creating a vacuum in the combustion chamber.
- the upper end of the annular space surrounding the combustion chamber communicates with an evacuation duct in the form of convergent-divergent having a neck and the combustion chamber comprises a smoke evacuation duct having an open end which is located coaxially in said neck and whose external diameter is slightly less than the internal diameter of said neck and defines therewith an annular space of small radial width which constitutes said annular ejector.
- the burner fitted to an incinerator comprises a cylindrical conduit which opens tangentially into said combustion chamber and which is connected with said box, which conduit contains an axial cane for injecting pulverized liquid effluents and several fuel injectors which are each equipped with a nozzle and which are arranged inside said duct and at the periphery of said axial rod.
- the airlock for loading solid waste from an incinerator comprises an interior door which closes an opening situated in a side wall of the combustion chamber and which is articulated around a horizontal axis situated along the upper edge of said opening and a fixed box which surrounds said loading opening and which comprises a second rectangular opening which is equipped with a bucket holder articulated around a horizontal axis located along the lower edge of the second opening, which bucket holder has an internal wall placed inside said box, an external wall perpendicular to said internal wall and two side walls in the shape of a quarter of a circle, which are centered on said articulation axis and which have a radius slightly less than the height of said second opening.
- the invention results in a new multipurpose incinerator capable of burning or decomposing both solid and liquid waste by fire.
- An incinerator according to the invention has the advantage that the combustion chamber is kept under vacuum and its external walls are cooled by a stream of air without the fumes passing through the fan, which prevents rapid wear of the latter. ci under the effect of the temperature of smoke and corrosive gases from the decomposition of waste.
- the burner fitted to an incinerator according to the invention comprises fuel injectors equipped with a nozzle, which are simple, robust and easy to maintain devices.
- the arrangement of the fuel injectors around a central liquid effluent injection rod means that the flames produced by the fuel injectors surround the pulverized liquid waste which is forced to pass through the flame, which leads to good combustion or decomposition of these.
- the burner has several fuel injectors which are fed in parallel, which makes it possible to adjust the fuel flow rate according to the calorific value of the liquid effluents and even to stop all the fuel injectors if the liquid effluent has a sufficient calorific value to maintain combustion.
- FIG. 1 represents a multipurpose incinerator 1 which is installed for example on a boat or in a factory for eliminating both solid waste and liquid effluents, for example for eliminating household waste or solid residues from a manufacture and in at the same time water or sludge laden with suspended matter or else residual liquids from a production.

- the combustion chamber 2 comprises two metal tanks, an internal tank 6 which is internally covered with a refractory lining 7 and an external tank 8.
- the two tanks 6 and 8 are concentric and they delimit between them an intermediate annular space 9 in which fresh air circulates which prevents the tank from being brought to a high temperature and does not risk causing burns or fire risks.
- the incinerator has at its lower part a box 10 which is connected to the discharge duct of a fan 11.
- the lower end of the annular space 9 communicates with the box 10.
- the smoke duct 5 is surrounded by a box 12 which delimits around the open end of the duct 5 an annular space 13.
- the box 12 communicates with the upper end of the annular space 9, so that part of the fresh air blown by the fan flows through the annular space 9 and then through the annular space 13.
- the annular space 13 forms a air ejector of the so-called parietal type, that is to say an ejector which is located at the periphery of the end of the smoke duct 5 and which sucks the fumes by creating a depression in the chamber 2 which causes an entry of combustion air through the grid 3 which communicates with a lateral air inlet opening.
- the box 12 is connected to a sheath 12a connecting to a chimney.
- the fan 11 is used for times to circulate fresh air in the annular space 9 and to cause the suction of the fumes and the dilution of these without the fumes passing through the fan and while maintaining the chamber 2 in vacuum, which allows solid waste to be introduced into it through the airlock 4 without risking flame projections to the outside.
- the incinerator 1 includes a burner 14 which is intended to produce a flame by the combustion of a liquid or gaseous fuel in order to initiate or maintain the combustion of solid waste.

Abstract
