  • An extension of the clumping test is the use of a ceramic-alumina crucible to determine the end product of vanadia reacting with the metal additives. If vanadia does not react with the metal additive or only a small amount of compound formation occurs, then the vanadia will diffuse through and over the porous alumina walls and deposit as a yellowish to orange deposit on the outside walls of the crucible. On the other hand, when compound formation occurs, there is little or no vanadia deposits on the outside crucible wall. Two series of tests were performed, in the first series shown in Table 2, 1/1 mixture by weight of vanadia pentoxide and the metal additive was placed in the crucible and heated to 815.6°C(1500°F) in air for 12 hours. Compound formation or vanadia diffusion was noted.

Claims (10)

1. Un procédé suivant la revendication 5, dans lequel le brut réduit ou l'huile brute contient 100 ppm ou plus de métaux comprenant le nickel, le vanadium, le fer et le cuivre, et a une teneur en carbone Conradson de 8 % en poids ou plus et dans lequel le produit contient, après décarbonisation et démétallisation, moins de 100 ppm de métaux, de préférence moins de 50 ppm de métaux et moins de 10 % en poids de carbone Conradson et de préférence moins de 8 % en poids de carbone Conradson.
7. Un procédé suivant la revendication 5, dans lequel l'état d'oxydation de l'oxyde de vanadium est réduit à un niveau inférieur dans la zone de réaction avec transfert en colonne montante et maintenu à ce niveau inférieur en utilisant une combustion incompleté du coke sur l'adsorbant dans la zone de régénération.
