Description

The invention relates to a safety mountain bag.

As we know, currently mountain bags, used mainly for walking, hiking, mountaineering or ski touring, have the same elements namely the bag part itself to which are attached suspenders and sometimes a strap ventral. These bags may or may not have a metal frame, pockets in variable number, straps for carrying skis, crampons, etc. These bags fulfill their carrying function well.

In addition, we also know that, especially in climbing, mountaineers wear a special hankage called a harness to which the rope is attached. These harnesses are essentially divided into two groups, the full-body harnesses which are a set of straps distributed over the whole body and the harness-shorts formed by a set of straps playing the same role, but limited in size and user's thighs.

Mountain bags and harnesses are unrelated to each other and are each used for their own function.

As we know unfortunately, when a skier or a hiker or a mountaineer falls into a crevasse without being roped up, it is always difficult to remove it from these crevasses, especially when they are narrow. The main problem is that it is difficult to reach the victim and even more difficult to be able to hang a rope to be able to remove it. In addition, action must be taken quickly.

Hanging the rope on the straps of the bag worn by the accident victim is excluded because, on the one hand, often this bag is wound up over his head and, on the other hand and above all, the straps would not withstand the effort significant traction requested. It is generally impossible to hang the rope on the harness frame point.

In US Patent 3,424,134, a safety harness has been described comprising a buckle attached in the back to allow gripping. This loop being placed in the back, will unfortunately be inaccessible if the wearer fell into a narrow crevice, especially if he also carried a bag. normal mountain, this one, during the fall, would be raised above its head making access to the loop impossible. This system is preventive, but unfortunately cannot be used for crevasse rescue.

In French patent 2,444,474, a safety harness has been described comprising a hooking ring placed on the top. If we combined this harness with a classic mountain bag, during a fall into a crevasse, the bag would go up and as before, would prevent access to the ring.

Unfortunately, all of these solutions do not allow them to be used during the rescue of climbers who are not roped, who have fallen into narrow crevices.

• - on the other hand, on the bottom, a harness-shorts. Advantageously:
• - the strap is braided and crossed at the back;
• - the strap is continuous so as to withstand large tensile forces;
• - the shorts forming part is removably linked to the two lower ends of the strap secured to the bag;
• - The strap comprising the gripping loop and forming shorts is attached to the bag and is made integral with the latter by, at least one anchor point;
• - The bag has at its base a horizontal pocket intended to receive the portion forming a harness-shorts when the user does not wish to wear it.

In other words, the safety mountain bag according to the invention comprises, in the part in contact with the back, a strap integral with the bag, in particular crossed in the back of the bag, to form a traction loop, said strap forming at its two lower ends a harness-shorts, removable or not.

The installation of the assembly is easy and quick. The user, in fact, places the bag on his back, grabs the strap (7) between his legs and then buckles it to the right and left.

In the embodiment of FIGS. 3 and 4, the back strap (3) with its attachment loop (5) comprises two independent buttock straps (8) and (9) connected or not by a replacement attachment (20) the sub-gluteal strap (4) of the embodiment of Figures 1 and 2. In the third embodiment illustrated in FIGS. 8 and 9, the characteristic dorsal strap (3) is no longer placed in the middle, but on the edges of the back part of the bag (1). This gives the loop (5) the shape of a large handle. Furthermore, the side straps (3) are directly connected to thigh straps (16) and (17) thus providing a slightly less comfortable embodiment in the event of traction, but nevertheless simplified. In this embodiment, a pocket (18) placed under the bottom of the bag (1) makes it possible to receive the thigh straps or the gluteal straps when the user does not wish to use them.

In practice, as already said, the straps can be made of a flat braid of high strength synthetic threads, in common use for example for making seat belts. This strap (3) can be sewn or attached to the back of the bag by any suitable means.

In the preferred embodiment described in Figures 10 and 11, the continuous strap (3) crossed in the back (21) to form the grip loop (5) is made integral with the back of the bag (1) by a seam or the like (28) in the upper part of the bag, and the strap (3) in the part forming a loop (5) is folded and sewn in order to facilitate attachment, in particular when it is desired to pass a carabiner in this loop (5) (see figure 11).

The straps (2) comprise transverse straps (22-23) intended, during its fall, to prevent said straps (2) from sliding and therefore the bag does not escape the user.

The continuous strap (5) comes out of the bag towards the bottom of the bag in two symmetrical places (30-31) where it is sewn to the bag. At the same level, a classic thin ventral strap (10) is also sewn to allow maintaining the bag when walking.

The ends (24) and (25) of the gluteal strap (4) are terminated in loops, so as to form a loop which will make it possible, if necessary, to tie together, either directly or by l through a carabiner.

The reference (26) designates the free end of the characteristic continuous dorsal strap (3) and the reference (27) designates a loop sewn at the other end (29) whose length is considerably shorter than that of the end (26 ).

The fitting of the harness is carried out as follows. The mountaineer first puts the bag (1) on his back by putting on the shoulder straps (2). If desired, as is moreover recommended, it sets up the ventral (10) and retaining (22-23) straps. If he does not want to put on the shorts immediately (4, 24,25,26,27), he then places these straps in the horizontal pocket (18) provided for this purpose at the bottom of the back (21). On the other hand, if he wishes to put on the shorts, he then releases these straps, approaches the under-gluteal strap (4) which is. color preference preferably of the dorsal strap (3) in order to be more easily recognized, then passes the end (26) of the dorsal (3) first on the front of the thigh, then on the middle of this strap (4) (see Figure 11), it then brings this end (26) between the two legs and finally passes it through the loop (27) provided at the end of the short end (29). We thus formed a shorts. By the loops (24) and (25), the mountaineer can also rope.

• - enfin et surtout, possibilité d'accrocher l'alpiniste accidenté pour pouvoir le retirer rapidement, notamment lorsqu'il est collé aux parois par suite du refroidissement ; ainsi, la traction importante nécessaire est supportable, puisque celle-ci est répartie sur le corps et sur le bassin de l'alpiniste.

• - despite everything, a fall occurs thanks to the added width of the bag and the body of the mountaineer, it will go lower and the rescue will be all the easier and therefore faster;
• - in a narrow crevice, the bag remaining in place in the back, acts as a thermal screen and thus prevents the rapid cooling of the wearer against the wall of ice;
• - last but not least, possibility of hanging the injured mountaineer to be able to remove it quickly, especially when it is stuck to the walls as a result of cooling; thus, the significant traction required is bearable, since it is distributed over the body and over the mountaineer's pelvis.

In the embodiment according to the invention, the fact that the dorsal strap (3) forming a gripping loop (5) and harness-shorts (4,7,26,27,29) is made integral with the back (21) of the bag (1) is fundamental. In fact, this harness structure thus cooperates with the bag (1) during a fall in order, on the one hand, to prevent this bag (1) from rising on the mountaineer's head, which will facilitate subsequent attachment. on the loop (5) and on the other hand, limits the fall and slows down the cooling of the accident victim. Thus bag (1) and harness (4-7) made integral cooperate with each other and participate in a common result that could not be obtained by associating a bag with a harness of the type comprising an upper gripping loop such as that described. in French patent 2,444,474 cited in the preamble, because during a fall, the fact that the bag is raised on the victim's head prevents it from hanging, does not limit the height of the fall and does not slow the victim's cooling.
