Definitions

  • the invention relates to a massage and hydrotherapy device controlled by circulation of water and in particular by water from a water distribution network.
  • Car wash brushes have already been produced controlled by a small turbine driven by the water pressure of a distribution network such as that described for example in patent FR-A-1,568,301. But if such a hydromechanical control could if need be, drive a circular brush sliding on the smooth and abundantly flooded surface of a car sheet, the device described is completely incapable of producing, using the only water pressure available from a distribution network. urban, the mass training that we apply to the. body.
  • the apparatus containing a set of flow channels coming from the housings incorporating the drive mechanisms of the brush and opening out all around the brush it is clear that such a device would make it impossible to use it as a massage in hydrotherapy since any inversion of the device would cause the water to flow out of the field of action of the massage area.
  • Manual hydromechanical massage brushes have also been produced controlled by a turtine driven by the pressure of distribution water, such as that described in patent US-A-4,228,558, which shows all the characteristics of the preamble of claim 1: this device has a turbine comprising an impeller driven in rotation by a flow of pressurized water from the distribution network; this turbine drives wheels fitted with brushes which massage the body.
  • this device makes it possible to use the water in the form of a shower or to return it to the distribution circuit, but this device has significant drawbacks: the energy of the water is almost completely absorbed by the massage device, and the water dispenser is ultimately only a simple shower and not a hydrotherapy device, moreover this device consists of simple brushes insufficient to provide the effective massage in hydrotherapy.
  • the object of the invention is a hydromechanical massage and hydrotherapy device comprising a housing with a handle serving as a housing for a duct intended to be connected to the water distribution network and to the distributor of a turbine housed in the housing, said turbine comprising an impeller which can be driven in rotation by a flow of water under pressure of the order of 4 to 8 bars passing through said duct and said distributor and leaving the turbine for hydrotherapeutic treatment, this turbine driving , by means of a speed reducer isolated from the water circuit, the axis of a rotary massage member, characterized in that the distributor of the impeller comprises a side wall extending tangentially to the path followed by the ends of the blades to complete on a part of this trajectory a portion of ring delimited by said side wall, by the peripheral wall of the wheel carrying the blades radially and by a flat an inner wall and an outer wall which border the lateral parts of the blades, said lateral wall moving away from said ring portion to guide the stream of water having driven said wheel directly towards a discharge duct
  • Another characteristic of the device consists in bringing together the massage balls or balls whose own axes of rotation are integral with the outlet axis of the reducer, the latter being located outside the turbine discharge jet directed out of the device, on the side where the balls inside a circumference whose diameter is of the same order of magnitude as that of the turbine wheel.
  • Another characteristic consists in the combination of this arrangement with a reduction rate of the speed of the output shaft of the reducer such that this axis rotates at speeds of the order of 50 to 200 revolutions per minute for speeds of the turbine wheel of the order of 600 to 1500 revolutions per minute and a diameter of the order of 6 to 15 cm.
  • Another characteristic of the device is to allow its use in any position, even vertical or turned over to horizontal position, as well as during any change of position, by providing a second side wall bordering the periphery of the blades of the impeller of the turbine from the area adjacent to the water evacuation duct to the distributor, this wall forming a ring part of the same section as the ring part used for driving the turbine, a screen between the discharge duct and said second wall preventing any accidental projection of water towards the turbine.
  • the very shape of the wall of the distributor which extends to form the fraction of the ring where the drive takes place and then deviates from it to direct the jet towards the discharge pipe, constitutes in itself a means sufficient to effectively direct the jet out of the apparatus due to the speed acquired, any accumulation of water which could occur due to an accidental disturbance of the net in the discharge duct and the consequent creation of small splashes of water between the ends of the first and second walls of the turbine.
  • This arrangement is further improved by providing, as an evacuation conduit, a relatively large conduit bordered by a large surface whose concavity transforms the jet leaving the turbine into a sheet which is used as it is, or divided, depending on the desired effects.
  • the device is formed from a plastic casing made up of two half-shells 1 and 2. assembled by any means: welding, gluing, screws, the device can be partially removable or not.
  • the device comprises a handle serving as a housing for a duct 3 converging towards the distributor 5 of the turbine.
  • This distributor is characterized by its section whose dimension is much smaller than that of the inlet section 4 of the conduit 3 and which is connected by any desired means to a flexible pipe connected to the water distribution network.
  • This pipe can for example be connected to the shower outlet of a bathroom.
  • the shape of the distributor 5 is given by the connection of a first side wall 16 tangentially bordering the surface described by the end of the blades 22 of the impeller 6 of the turbine so as to deviate therefrom tangentially beyond the region 23 while remaining concave until its end 24 which in the example chosen coincides with a lateral end of an access to a conduit 18 bordered above by the concave surface 20 on the side of the apparatus opposite to the conduit 3.
  • the conduit 18 is further limited by a transverse partition 27 forming part of the lower half-shell 2 bordering a chamber 25. This chamber contains the mechanism for reducing the speed of the shaft 26 of the impeller 6 of blades 22. It is closed in its part upper by the plate 17 and in its lower part by the lower half-shell 2.
  • a small screen protective 19 is provided beyond the end 28 of the partition 27.
  • a second side wall 29 opposite the wall 16 connected to the distributor 16 completely borders the path of the peripheral part of the blades 22 of the end 28 of the distributor 5, so that any small accidental projection of water is immediately taken up by the vanes 22 and re-entrained with the rapid jet leaving the distributor 5.
  • the speed reducer of the shaft 26 of the turbine is composed in the illustrated example of the pinion 7 of small diameter secured to the shaft 26 passing through the plate 17, of the pinion 8 of larger diameter meshing with the pinion 7 and of the pinion of smaller diameter 9 integral with the pinion 8 meshing with the pinion of larger diameter 10.
  • the metal shaft 11 made integral with the pinion 10 directly drives the rods 13 on which the balls or balls are mounted 12. These balls can be obtained for example by assembling two half-shells, each having internally a rib 14 bearing on an elastic washer 15 at the end of the rod 13 to prevent the ball 12, after assembly, from leaving the rod 13.
  • the ball 12 is supported externally on the part 30 secured to the shaft 11.
  • the jet can be distributed in any manner flowing from the surface 20 by dividing elements such as 21, and even guide the jet outside the passage of the balls or else take advantage of the variations in impact on the skin when the jet is periodically interrupted by the passage of the balls.
