Abstract

1. Ground covering for open spaces, in particular for recreation and sports grounds, having a surface layer of water-permeable artificial lawn (16), an intermediate layer of water-permeable rot-proof mat (14) and at least one base layer (10, 12) characterised in that the base layer has a mat (12) which is embedded in a filler material (10) and which consists of wires of synthetic material, which are arranged to form loops, are superimposed in multiple layers and are welded together at contact points, and the water-permeable mat forming the intermediate layer is in the form of a filter mat (14) which is impervious to granular material.
