A portion D 2 on the bottom of disc 11, between edge 15 of bottom electrode 12B and edge 14 of disc 11, is also not covered by electrode material. The height of disc 11 is defined by D 3 .

Claims (5)

1. Zinkoxidvaristor (10) enthaltend: einen scheibenförmigen, gesinterten Körper (11) mit gegenüberliegenden Stirnflächen und einer Umfangswand zwischen den gegenüberliegenden Stirnflächen und mit einer Elektrode (12A, 12B), die auf jeder Stirnfläche aufgebracht ist, wobei die Ränder (13, 15) der Elektroden im Abstand von den Rändern des Körpers angeordnet sind, um Umfangsrandabschnitte (D1, D2) der Stirnflächen frei von dem Elektrodenmaterial zu lassen, gekennzeichnet durch wenigstens eine Umfangsnut (18), die in der Umfangswand ausgebildet ist, wobei die Tiefe der Nut gewählt ist zum Begrenzen der Überlast-Stromdichten an den Stellen des Körpers, die neben den Elektrodenrändern und dem Boden der Nut angeordnet sind.
2. Zinkoxidvaristor nach Anspruch 1, wobei die Tiefe der Nut (18) etwa gleich der Breite der Umfangsrandabschnitte (D1, D2) ist.
3. Zinkoxidvaristor nach Anspruch 2, wobei die Umfangswand mit zwei Umfangsnuten (18) versehen ist.
4. Zinkoxidvaristor nach Anspruch 3, wobei der Abstand zwischen den Nuten (18) größer ist als der Abstand zwischen jeder Nut und der dazu benachbarten Stirnfläche des Körpers.
5. Zinkoxidvaristor (10) enthaltend: einen scheibenförmigen, gesinterten Körper (11) mit gegenüberliegenden Stirnflächen und einer Umfangswand zwischen den gegenüberliegenden Stirnflächen und mit einer Elektrode (12A, 12B), die auf jede Stirnfläche aufgebracht ist, wobei die Ränder (13, 15) der Elektroden im Abstand von den Rändern des Körpers angeordnet sind, um Umfangsrandabschnitte (D1, D2) der Stirnflächen frei von dem Elektrodenmaterial zu lassen, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß die Scheibenwand eine konkave Konfiguration (14) hat.
