Abstract

The invention relates to a non-foaming facial massage and shaving emulsion.

Non-foaming shaving agents have been known for a long time. For example, DE-PS 83o o96 describes a shaving agent which is produced by emulsifying large amounts of paraffin into an alkali or triethanolamine soap or other soaps. With a solids content of 25 to 45% by weight, the paraffin content is 20 to 35% by weight. In addition to the components mentioned, the previously known shaving agent contains considerable amounts of wax such as lanette wax or synthetic wax (IG wax) and fatty alcohol sulfonates as an emulsifier.

Another non-foaming shaving agent in the form of a shaving emulsion is described in DE-OS 19 65859. This shaving agent contains methyl cellulose as an emulsifiable base material, honey and / or tragacanth as a drop-inhibiting ingredient as well as small amounts of polyvinyl acetate.

Furthermore, non-foaming shaving creams and low-foaming liquid shaving soaps are known from the literature (J.S. Jellinek Cosmetology ", 1967, pages 583 to 586 and K. Janistyn" Paperback of Modern Perfumery and Cosmetics ", 1365, pages 6S2 to 688).

However, all of these non-foaming shaving agents have hardly found their way into practice and have not been able to gain acceptance among consumers.

The invention is therefore based on the object of providing a non-foaming shaving agent which is simpler and cheaper Can be produced and is accepted by the consumer due to its advantageous properties.

The invention therefore relates to a face massage and shaving emulsion of the type characterized in the claims.

The emulsion according to the invention preferably contains carboxylmethyl cellulose (CMC, usually in the form of the sodium salt) as the thickening step. However, other thickeners such as methyl cellulose can also be used. The thickener content is generally 1.5 to 7% by weight and preferably 3 to 5% by weight.

The alcohol components in the suitable esters of saturated C ₁₂ -C ₁₈ fatty acids are preferably C ₂ -C ₄ alcohols. For example, isopropyl myristate and isopropyl stearate and propyl stearate give good results. The content of esters of saturated C ₁₂ -C ₁₈ fatty acids of lower alcohols is about 2 to 7% by weight and preferably 2.5 to 4.5% by weight.

Of the metal salts of higher saturated fatty acids contained in the emulsion according to the invention, zinc stearate in particular has proven to be suitable. Good results can also be obtained with other zinc, magnesium, calcium or aluminum salts of C ₁₂ -C ₂₂ fatty acids. The content of fatty acid salts is usually 0.1 to 1.5% by weight and preferably 0.3 to 0.7% by weight.

The addition of chamomile oil (chamomile oil in alcohol) has proven to be particularly advantageous since it improves the skin-friendliness of the emulsion according to the invention and acts on the nasal and pharynx with regular use of the emulsion according to the invention, so that the natural resistance to infectious diseases (colds) increases . The dermatological effect of chamomile oil is based, among other things, on the anti-allergic and anti-inflammatory effects of the azulene contained in it. The chamomile oil additive "soothes" the skin and makes the use of "after shave" superfluous. In addition, small wounds are effectively disinfected, although such wounds practically do not occur when using the emulsion according to the invention. Although small amounts of chamomile oil added have an advantageous influence on the properties of the emulsion, it is preferred to use about 3 to 5% by weight of chamomile oil.

Finally, it is expedient that the shaving composition according to the invention contains a preservative due to its high water content. Preservatives suitable for these purposes belong to the prior art and are known to the person skilled in the art. Suitable are e.g. Salicylic esters such as the preservative sold under the trade name "NIPAGIN".

The preparation of the emulsion according to the invention is not difficult and can be carried out in all known suitable devices. Generally, the thickener is first slurried in water (preferably with stirring) and then the remaining ingredients are added. The composition is mixed well in a suitable mixing vessel and then filled into the desired containers (bottles, tubes or pots). A particular advantage in the preparation of the emulsion according to the invention is that it does not need to be heated, but can be worked at room temperature. The facial massage and shaving emulsion according to the invention is most advantageously applied in such a way that it is first applied to the face and massaged into the skin for about 2 minutes. In this way, a good beard softening is achieved and the subsequent shave can be carried out without difficulty and in particular without any skin irritation. The emulsion according to the invention keeps the skin moist throughout the shave, so that, in contrast to the use of shaving foam, it is not necessary to reapply after about half the shave. Furthermore, the entire shave can be carried out with just a single blade without having to rinse it off in the meantime. Accordingly, shaving with the emulsion according to the invention can take place even when no water is available. The shaved 3art remnants collect on the blade and can be rinsed off with cold water immediately or later.

It is obvious that a shaving cream has considerable advantages over conventional shaving soaps and / or creams (cf. the above-mentioned prior art). Because of the better visibility of the areas to be shaved, beard wearers in particular can perform a much more precise shave without having to use the razor blade to get into oak that should not actually be shaved. In addition, there is no annoying foaming, which usually has to be repeated several times since the shaving cream dries up in the meantime. The most important advantages of the emulsion according to the invention, however, lie in the excellent softening of the beard and the care of the facial skin due to the massage. In particular with the addition of chamomile oil, it has been shown that the regular use of the emulsion according to the invention contributes to skin care and gives a certain immunity to colds. No skin irritation was observed in two test subjects over a period of more than one year or about half a year when using the emulsion according to the invention, although both test subjects had great difficulties in this regard when using conventional shaving foams or creams. In addition, both test subjects were spared colds during the period of use of the emulsion according to the invention.
