Description

The present invention relates to a machine for the automatic installation of sliders on closure strips with coupling profiles, this machine comprising means for feeding the sliders one after the other and in a determined position, guide means a pair of cooperating closing strips along an essentially rectilinear path, and means for opening the sliders and introducing them onto the strips.

The invention relates more particularly to said means which are provided for opening the sliders and introducing them onto the closure strips.

A machine is currently known in which this operation is carried out by jaws with complex movements. The principle will be described below, with reference to the attached drawing. This machine is very complicated, both in terms of design and in terms of its settings, is not sufficiently safe to operate, and the application rates are limited to approximately thirty-five cursors applied per minute, which annoyingly limits the maximum speed at which the tapes run; in fact, current welders, for fixing the strips to plastic bags or other supports, have their working speed limited thereby, and production is much lower than it could be without this laying subjection sliders.

The purpose of the present invention is to remedy these drawbacks and to create a new, simpler, weaker machine, allowing laying rates much higher than current rates, which will give welders their full performance, and thus increase production.

To this end, a slider laying machine of the type mentioned at the beginning is, in accordance with the invention, characterized in that said means for opening the sliders and introducing them onto the strips essentially comprise, on the one hand, a rotor coupled to motor means making it possible to drive it in step-by-step rotation, this rotor being provided at its periphery with housings opening in the radial direction and capable of each receiving, in turn, a cursor at a location for the arrival of the cursors successive, and on the other hand a stator, extending along a part of the periphery of said rotor, essentially between said location of arrival of the sliders and said path of the closing closing bands, said rotor housings having, towards the terminal end of the stator, a path practically tangent to said path, said stator being further off-center with respect to the rotor, and shaped so that it has internally, that is to say facing the rotor, a surface e of support for the ends of the insertion face of the sliders, said surface, considered in the direction of rotation of the rotor, being at a distance from the bottom of said housings which is gradually decreasing, and in that a system of ramps or the like, provided on the rotor and / or on the stator, is arranged to cause the opening of the sliders during the movement which, driven by their respective housing, they carry out towards the closure strips, said sliders then being able, due to of their elasticity, close on said strips, by enclosing said coupling profiles, when they leave their housing, then being driven by the running bands.

The operation of a machine thus produced will be seen in more detail below.

When the sliders, as known, are of a type comprising on their bottom two outer cheeks which, when pinched, cause the opening of the cursor, said ramp system can advantageously, and simply be constituted by a conformation in " V "from the bottom of the rotor housings, along which the edges of said cheeks can thus slide when the cursor is gradually pressed towards the bottom of its housing by the action of said stator bearing surface, which causes the opening of said cursor while the latter is moving towards the bands.

One could also provide, as a variant, that said sliders are of a type comprising opposite their bottom, namely on the ends of their introduction face, one or two pairs of ears, and that, in such a case, to obtain the same effect as above, said system of ramps comprises, in said bearing surface of the stator, grooves or the like, receiving said ears and progressively moving them apart, to open the cursor while it moves to the bands.

Au dessin ci-annexé:

  • - les figures 1 à 4 représentent schématiquement, dans leurs différentes positions de fonctionnement, les mâchoires d'une machine de pose connue, du type évoqué au début;
  • - les figures 5 et 6 représentent schématiquement, respectivement en plan et en coupe transversale, le rotor et le stator d'une machine établie conformément à l'invention;
In the attached drawing:
  • - Figures 1 to 4 schematically show, in their different operating positions, the jaws of a known laying machine, of the type mentioned at the start;
  • - Figures 5 and 6 show schematically, respectively in plan and in cross section, the rotor and the stator of a machine established in accordance with the invention;
  • - Figures 7a and 7b show an ear slider usable in an alternative embodiment of the machine.

The known machine has been shown in FIGS. 1 to 4, as adapted to engage on a pair of closure strips 1, with coupling profiles 2, known sliders of the type comprising on their bottom 3 outer cheeks 4.

What has been called above "the introduction face of the cursors" has been referenced in 5; it is indeed the face, opposite the bottom 3, by which the sliders will be introduced on the pair of strips 1. The sliders are made of an appropriate synthetic material, giving them a certain elasticity. The sliders are brought one by one to the machine by any suitable feeding means (vibrating bowl, slides), capable of giving them a well-defined orientation. They are thus introduced between the two jaws 6 of the machine, which can pivot around axes 7 (Figure 1). Appropriate control means then pivot the two jaws, of which the heels 8, by pinching the cheeks 4, then cause the opening of the cursor, by elastic folding along the median line of its bottom 3 (FIG. 2); the scrolling of the bands 1 being stopped, pliers (not shown) enclose the two closure bands 1 on each side of the location at which the cursor is to be introduced. The open jaws 6 then advance towards the bands (FIG. 3) for the introduction of the cursor, then move away from it to release it (FIG. 4). The aforementioned clamps release the bands, which can then be returned to the running movement, then the jaws 6 return to their initial position, after which the cycle can be repeated as described above.

We see that such a machine is quite complicated to operate, the movements of the jaws being complex (rotation, translation, spacing, approximation), and that this operation is essentially discontinuous. This explains the low rates obtained and the relative frequency of breakdowns or the need for adjustments.

We will now describe a machine according to the invention, and more precisely the means which, on this machine, are provided for the opening and introduction of the sliders on the closure strips, given that the other additional means of the machine (feeding cursors, guiding the bands, etc.) can be conventional and need not be described.

In FIGS. 5 and 6, reference is made at 9 to the rotor mentioned above and provided at its periphery with housings 10 opening in the radial direction and suitable for receiving the sliders (generally referenced at 11). The rotor 9 can be driven step by step, for example by means of a ratchet wheel (not shown) actuated itself by a jack controlled in synchronism with the supply of the successive sliders 11, as well as with the welding rate.

This stator has a bearing surface 13 with respect to the rotor 9 and it is eccentric with respect to the rotor so that the space between this surface 13 and the bottom 14 of the housings 10 goes gradually decreasing in the direction rotor rotation (arrow 15).

The bottom 14 of the housings has a particular shape to constitute what has been called above "the system of ramps or the like"; it has, as visible in FIG. 6, a doubly V-shaped profile, with two pairs of ramps 16 and 17, separated by a bearing 18.

When a slider 11 is brought, in the desired position, to the arrival location, it is pushed, by a pusher 19 mounted for example on a cylinder rod 20, into the housing 14 which faces it, through a guide opening 21 of the stator 12, the rotor then being stopped.

The rotor then being rotated, the occupied housing 14 drives the cursor 11 in the direction of the arrow 15 and the edges of the part of the cursor which remains outside the rotor, that is to say the edges of this which have been called above "the insertion face of the sliders" are pressed against the bearing surface 13 of the stator 12. Because the space provided between this surface 13 and the bottom 14 of the housing 10 gradually decreases during rotation in the direction of the arrow 15, the edges of the outer cheeks 4 of the cursor are caused to slide along the ramps 17 of the bottom 14 of the housing, which causes the progressive opening of the cursor, to the position shown at the top of Figure 6.

It can then be seen that the lateral edges of the bottom 3 of the slider 11, which extend outside the cheeks 4, are in abutment on the abovementioned bearings 18, while the two lateral tabs of the slider come to bear on the ramps 16.

When the open cursor thus reaches the closing strips 1, the fact that it leaves the corresponding housing 10 then enables it to close resiliently on the strips by enclosing the coupling profiles 2.

It should be noted that in order not to overload the drawing, the cursor has not been shown in the housing 10 in FIG. 5; it has been shown, respectively in the closed position and in the open position, only at the lower part and at the upper part of FIG. 6.

When the laying operation which has just been described has been carried out, a new cycle can start again, the housing 10 diametrically opposite to that which has just been left by the cursor 11 can in turn be supplied with the cursor.

It can be seen that a machine according to the invention is of a simplified constitution and also of a very simple and practically continuous operation; in particular, it does not require any adjustment and it has been found that it is also very weak in operation.

The movement followed by the cursor between its entry into the rotor and its introduction on the closure strips, being circular, there is no need to go back, which saves time and makes it possible to obtain speeds. about 100 cursors per minute.

It is thus possible to significantly increase the running speed of the closure strips and concomitantly the operating speed of the welders, with ultimately a very significant production gain.

A simplification of the machine results from the fact that no clamp gripping the closure strips is necessary and that these can therefore continue to run during the installation of the sliders. Conventional guide means are sufficient for the closure strips, with any means of tensioning them.

In FIGS. 7a and 7b there is shown, as a variant, another type of cursor, referenced at 22, and which can also be placed, by a machine according to the invention.

Instead of having cheeks 4 extending from their bottom 3, these sliders have been provided with a pair of ears 23, a rune provided at one end of the slider on one of its lateral legs and the other on the other leg but at the opposite end. These ears can thus be guided by grooves or by an appropriate ramp provided on the surface 13 of the stator, in such a way that they are progressively separated from one another to cause the opening of the cursor 22 during its movement in the direction of arrow 15. The operation of the machine would therefore be essentially the same as that which has just been described.

A machine for automatically putting sliders (11) in position on stringer tapes (1) with profiled interlocking members, said machine comprising means for supplying the sliders (11) seriatim and in a given position, means for guiding a pair of co-operating stringer tapes over a substantially rectilinear path, and means for opening the sliders (11) and introducing them on the tapes (1), characterised in that the said means for opening the sliders (11) and introducing them on the tapes (1 ) comprise essentially, on the one hand, a rotor (9) coupled to drive means enabling said rotor to be driven in tepwise rotation, said rotor being provided at the periphery with recesses (10) opening radially and adapted each to receive in turn a slider (11) in a position of arrival of the successive sliders (11), and, on the other hand, a stator (12) extending along part of the periphery of said rotor (9) essentially between the said position of arrival of the sliders and the said path of the passing stringer tapes (1), the said recesses in the rotor (9) having, towards the terminal end of the stator (12), a path which is practically tangential to the said stringer tape path, the said stator (12) also being eccentric with respect to the rotor (9) and so shaped that on the inside i.e. facing the rotor (9) it has an abutment surface for the ends of the introduction face of the sliders {11), the said surface as considered in the direction of rotation of the rotor (9) being at a porgressively decreasing distance from the bottom of the said recesses (10) and in that a system of ramps or the like provided on the rotor (9) and/or on the stator (12) is arranged to cause the opening of the sliders (11) during movement of the latter towards the stringer tapes (1) when the said sliders are driven by their respective recess (10), the said sliders (11) then being able to re-close on the said tapes (1) because of their elasticity, enclosing the said profiled interlocking members as they do so, at the time when they leave their recess (10), and are then driven by the passing tapes (1 ).
2. A machine according to claim 1, characterized in that the said sliders (11) are of a type having two external cheeks on their base which cheeks, when clamped, cause opening of the slider (11), the said ramp system being in the form of a V configuration of the base of the recesses (10) of the rotor (9) along which the edges of said cheeks ca thus slide when the slider (11) is progressively pressed towards the base of its recess (10) by the action of said stator abutment surface, thus causing opening of said slider (11) while the latter moves towards the tapes (1).
3. A machine according to claim 1, characterized in that the said sliders (11 ) are of a type having one or two pairs of lugs (23) remote from their base, i.e. on the ends of their introduction face, and in that the said ramp system comprises, in the said abutment surface of the stator (12), grooves or the like receiving the said lugs (23) and progressively moving them apart to open the slider (11) while the latter moves towards the tapes (1 ).
