Definitions
- the invention relates to a therapy pillow. It serves as an aid for mobilization and repositioning of the entire spine as well as individual vertebral bodies and joints. It also serves to normalize the function of the joints of the shoulder girdle and by mobilizing individual rib joints of the entire chest.
- the pillow is also used as an aid in neurophysiologically oriented spasticity treatment and quadriplegic therapy.
- the new therapy cushion is used as a support for patients and is characterized in that it is designed as an air mattress-like inflatable hollow body with an upper wall and a lower wall connected tightly around it with two longitudinally extending beads, that both beads form a unicameral system and at least almost in the head area adjoin each other and that an elastically deformable elongated body with less deformability than that of the beads is provided between them in the trunk area.
- the area of application for the new therapy treatment pillow is: physiotherapy, physical therapy, physiotherapy, mobilization and chirotherapy, orthopedics, neurology.
- the elongated central body in the trunk area is more dimensionally stable, ie. is not so easily deformable, in particular stiffer, than the two beads connected by the single-chamber system.
- the elongated body is made of foam rubber or foam and is preferably in an elongated chamber housed, which can be independent of the single-chamber system of the beads.
- the elongated chamber is preferably longer than the compressible insert body and the latter can therefore be displaced in the longitudinal direction in the chamber in order to be able to adapt to the height of the patient.
- the elongated body consists of its own chamber which is independent of the beads, which is also inflatable and has its own inflation valve.
- this middle chamber in the fuselage area more than the beads, the effect can also be achieved that this middle area has a lower deformability than the beads.
- An embodiment of the invention can still be seen in the fact that there is a longitudinal slot penetrating the top wall and the bottom wall between the two beads in the head region.
- the patient's head rests between the beads in the head area of the pillow and when the patient lies prone, this slit enables or facilitates breathing.
- a suitable opening can therefore be provided instead of the slot there is also a recess. In any case, the slot or the recess is limited on all sides.
- the width of the pillow is smaller in the head area than in the trunk area and that the height of the beads gradually decreases towards the head end of the head area.
- the circumference of the bulge is greatest in the middle of the body and decreases towards both ends.
- the single-chamber system of the beads is only inflated with a low pressure.
- a cross-section creates a depression between each bead and the central elongated chamber. These two depressions serve to stabilize the patient's legs in the rear trunk area or in the leg area.
- the deformable body is also highest in the area of the middle of the trunk and gradually decreases in height towards the ends of the trunk.
- the new therapy pillow enables a stable position of the patient in a kyphosed, spinal relaxing position thanks to the even weight distribution of the patient. This results in favorable, relaxing, neurophysiological stimuli through the relatively even weight distribution just described on the therapy pillow without sagging of the spine and thus blocking the facet closure of individual vertebral sections.
- the resulting relief of the intervertebral discs also enables their volume to be increased by enabling osmotically induced fluid growth in the intervertebral disc cartilage and, in the event of displacement, the position normalization of the intervertebral disc nucleus (nucleus pulposus) even with small hernias or slight intervertebral disc prolapse.
- Alone through the pain-free positioning thus achieved, but also through specially learnable techniques, sciatica, paraesthesia, back pain, brachialgia, intercostal as well as general neuralgia, headache, migraine, cerebral and peripheral blood circulation disorders, etc. can be influenced favorably.
- the therapy pillow is elongated in format and consists of a middle trunk part 12, an upper head part 14 and a lower leg part 16.
- the pillow is double-walled and has an upper wall 18 and a lower wall 20, both along a circumferential edge 22 are airtight.
- two beads 24, 26 extending over the entire length are formed, which form a closed single-chamber air system and can therefore be inflated by means of a valve or connection 28 (FIG. 2).
- the two beads 24, 26 In the head region 14, the two beads 24, 26 practically adjoin one another, but there is an elongated opening in the form of a slot 30 between the two beads 24, 26, which extends through the top wall 18 and bottom wall 20 and serves for breathing the patient in the prone position .
- the two beads 24, 26 are spaced apart from one another and an elongated chamber 32 is formed between them, which can be closed off from the chamber formed by the beads 24, 26.
- the elongated chamber 32 in the embodiment according to FIG. 2 there is a rigid, elastically deformable core in the form of a body made of foam rubber or foam.
- This core 34 is elongated and has a shorter length than the chamber 32, so that the core 34 can be displaced in the longitudinal direction in the chamber.
- the shift serves to adapt to the height of the patient.
- the height of the elastically deformable body 34 is greatest in the central region 12 of the trunk and decreases towards the two ends.
- the surface of the body 34 is thus in Longitudinally convex. At right angles to this, the surface can also be slightly convex or straight, as illustrated in FIG. 2.
- intermediate walls 36, 38 which are approximately vertical in the inflated state of the beads 24, 26 and delimit the chamber 32 laterally, so that the deformable foam body 34 is secured against displacement in the transverse direction .
- the longitudinal format of these intermediate walls 36, 38 results from FIG. 4, the outline of these intermediate walls being determined by the shape of the upper wall 18 and the lower wall 20.
- the head region 14 of the pillow 10 is narrower than the trunk region, with the result that the beads gradually become flatter towards the head end.
- the top wall 18 and bottom wall 20 are connected to one another in the longitudinal direction, connecting lines 40, 42, which are at the un extend the lower end of the leg region 16.
- connecting lines 40, 42 which are at the un extend the lower end of the leg region 16.
- the circumferential edge 22 of the pillow 10 has two fastening eyelets 46 on the upper transverse edge and on the lower transverse edge.
- the two longitudinal edges are provided with a number of corresponding eyelets 46 at suitable intervals. In the exemplary embodiment, five eyelets are provided on each longitudinal edge. These eyelets are used for detachable fixation of the therapy pillow 10 on a massage table or the like.
- Figure 3 illustrates an alternative to the pillow in that the rigid core 34 in the central elongated chamber 32 is eliminated.
- the middle chamber 32 is closed airtight in this case, which need not be the case in the embodiment according to FIG. 2.
- the central longitudinal chamber 32 is provided with its own inflation valve 44 and it is understood that can be achieved by correct choice of the inflation pressures that the Middle chamber 32 is stiffer than the two edge beads 24, 26.
- this chamber can be open, but is independent of the inflatable single-chamber system or that this chamber is openly integrated into the single-chamber system, but is then necessarily closed to the outside .

Abstract
A therapy pillow for the treatment of patients consists of an inflatable hollow body 10, which has two beads 24, 26 arranged in mirror image to the longitudinal center, which form an inflatable single-chamber system and which are almost adjacent to one another in the head region 14, but are spaced apart from one another in the trunk area, where a central chamber is formed, which has an elongated elastically deformable body 32 with less deformability than that of the desert. The body is preferably arranged to be longitudinally displaceable in the intermediate chamber. Alternatively, it is possible to design this intermediate chamber as a chamber that can be inflated independently of the beads. The therapy pillow allows the patient to be stable and rhythmic movements can e.g. Vertebral and joint blockages are treated.
Description
The invention relates to a therapy pillow. It serves as an aid for mobilization and repositioning of the entire spine as well as individual vertebral bodies and joints. It also serves to normalize the function of the joints of the shoulder girdle and by mobilizing individual rib joints of the entire chest. The pillow is also used as an aid in neurophysiologically oriented spasticity treatment and quadriplegic therapy.
The new therapy cushion is used as a support for patients and is characterized in that it is designed as an air mattress-like inflatable hollow body with an upper wall and a lower wall connected tightly around it with two longitudinally extending beads, that both beads form a unicameral system and at least almost in the head area adjoin each other and that an elastically deformable elongated body with less deformability than that of the beads is provided between them in the trunk area.
Als Einsatzbereich für das neuartige Therapie-Behandlungskissen gelten: Physiotherapie, physikalische Therapie, Krankengymnastik, Mobilisations- und Chirotherapie, Orthopädie, Neurologie. The area of application for the new therapy treatment pillow is: physiotherapy, physical therapy, physiotherapy, mobilization and chirotherapy, orthopedics, neurology.
It is essential that the elongated central body in the trunk area is more dimensionally stable, ie. is not so easily deformable, in particular stiffer, than the two beads connected by the single-chamber system. In one embodiment, the elongated body is made of foam rubber or foam and is preferably in an elongated chamber housed, which can be independent of the single-chamber system of the beads. The elongated chamber is preferably longer than the compressible insert body and the latter can therefore be displaced in the longitudinal direction in the chamber in order to be able to adapt to the height of the patient.
An alternative solution in the context of the invention is that the elongated body consists of its own chamber which is independent of the beads, which is also inflatable and has its own inflation valve. By inflating this middle chamber in the fuselage area more than the beads, the effect can also be achieved that this middle area has a lower deformability than the beads.
An embodiment of the invention can still be seen in the fact that there is a longitudinal slot penetrating the top wall and the bottom wall between the two beads in the head region. During the treatment, the patient's head rests between the beads in the head area of the pillow and when the patient lies prone, this slit enables or facilitates breathing. It goes without saying that instead of the slot there is also a recess, a suitable opening can therefore be provided. In any case, the slot or the recess is limited on all sides.
It is also important for the function of the pillow that the width of the pillow is smaller in the head area than in the trunk area and that the height of the beads gradually decreases towards the head end of the head area. The circumference of the bulge is greatest in the middle of the body and decreases towards both ends.
It is understood that the single-chamber system of the beads is only inflated with a low pressure. A cross-section creates a depression between each bead and the central elongated chamber. These two depressions serve to stabilize the patient's legs in the rear trunk area or in the leg area.
Entsprechend der in Längsrichtung konvexen Oberflächenform der Wülste ist auch der verformbare Körper im Bereich der Rumpfmitte am höchsten und nimmt in seiner Höhe zu den Rumpfenden hin allmählich ab.Corresponding to the longitudinally convex surface shape of the beads, the deformable body is also highest in the area of the middle of the trunk and gradually decreases in height towards the ends of the trunk.
Thanks to the surrounding unicameral principle, the new therapy pillow enables a stable position of the patient in a kyphosed, spinal relaxing position thanks to the even weight distribution of the patient. This results in favorable, relaxing, neurophysiological stimuli through the relatively even weight distribution just described on the therapy pillow without sagging of the spine and thus blocking the facet closure of individual vertebral sections. Due to rhythmic, alternating movements on the passive patient or on the therapy cushion itself, the upper body moves in a countermovement against the patient's pelvic girdle, which in addition to the important torsional movement of the spine, which is kyphosed in its entire length, and thus the opening of the spine Spinous processes dorsally also achieve muscular relaxation of the part of the muscle groups achieved by soft stretching, but especially the small muscles located ventrally and laterally of the spine, which are very difficult to reach by manual therapy. This is good for the treatment of vertebral and joint blockages, especially in patients with painful, psychologically and vegetatively cramped patients and thus also with psycho-somatic multifactorial pain patterns. The resulting relief of the intervertebral discs also enables their volume to be increased by enabling osmotically induced fluid growth in the intervertebral disc cartilage and, in the event of displacement, the position normalization of the intervertebral disc nucleus (nucleus pulposus) even with small hernias or slight intervertebral disc prolapse. Alone through the pain-free positioning thus achieved, but also through specially learnable techniques, sciatica, paraesthesia, back pain, brachialgia, intercostal as well as general neuralgia, headache, migraine, cerebral and peripheral blood circulation disorders, etc. can be influenced favorably.

The therapy pillow, generally designated 10, is elongated in format and consists of a
In the
The head region 14 of the
The
If it is said in the foregoing that the foam rubber body is accommodated in a chamber, this means that this chamber can be open, but is independent of the inflatable single-chamber system or that this chamber is openly integrated into the single-chamber system, but is then necessarily closed to the outside .
