Definitions
- the invention relates to an electric hotplate with an overheating protection switch according to the preamble of claim 1.
- the overheating protection switch used in the lower hotplate cover has a ceramic housing, in the interior of which a bimetal strip and a snap switch are arranged. It is supported with its housing on the underside of the hotplate and, in addition to its connection to the power supply and to hotplate fastenings for further hotplate connections, so that it simultaneously forms the connection leadthrough the hotplate cover.
- the fastenings are designed as openings in the housing.
- Screw connections which contains the hotplate and on the outside Hotplate is attached. A separate part is inserted into the cover for making the hotplate connections. An arched bimetal protrudes through the lower cover into the space below the hotplate and transfers its working movement to the switch in the housing by means of a push rod.
- a circuit breaker which consists of a small hollow ceramic body into which a snap switch influenced by a bimetal strip is inserted. It is located in the unheated center of the hotplate. Bimetal strips and switches are located in the housing, which is attached to the underside of the hotplate.
- the invention has for its object to provide a hotplate with an overheat protection switch, in which the responsiveness is improved and the thermal inertia is reduced with simple manufacture, so that the overheat protection switch responds faster and more accurately to a temperature rise and fall of the hotplate.
- the overheating protection holder at the same time forms the feed-through part with which, in addition to the connections connected to the switch, the other hotplate connections are also fixed and guided through the lower hotplate cover into the interior of the heated annular space of the hotplate.
- the housing is preferably supported with a shoulder on the edge of an opening of the cover and stands on the underside of the hotplate with housing projections, which are preferably designed as relatively thin feet on both narrow sides of the housing. This creates a well-ventilated, free space in which the bimetal is arranged and thus exposed to radiant heat and convection.
- the bimetal follows the temperature of the heating much better, so that the overheating protection switch is not a timer, as was the case with the previous versions, but a real temperature switch.
- Existing overheating protection switches required so long to switch on again after the single switch-off, due to the high thermal inertia and inertia of the switching behavior, that during normal operation the hotplate was only operated with part of its power and did not have sufficient power.
- the structure of the switch can be particularly simple according to the preferred embodiment of the invention if the housing is formed in two parts from a base part and a cover part, the space in the base part being arranged in the form of a laterally open recess which is closed by the cover part placed on the side .
- the cover part can preferably have the housing projections resting on the underside of the hotplate. In this way, it is possible to fix the components of the switch and the bimetal by inserting them laterally into slots in the base part of the housing and by bring the lid part secure.
- the shape of the ceramic parts is very simple, which makes it easier to manufacture them from steatite.
- the construction of the switch means that the mass of the overheating protection switch housing, which is close to the heating and below the cover, can be kept low. This not only has the already explained advantage that the switch responds faster, but also ensures that when the hotplate is heated up, these parts heat up quickly and thus no cold condensation point is created at which condensation water can precipitate, which increases the leakage currents.
- the switch which is preferably designed as a snap-action switch with a clamped spring tongue, is loaded in the normal on state by a contact pressure spring, and the transmission element is always held in a defined position, thereby preventing displacement or tilting becomes. Only when the switch is activated does the transmission element engage the bimetal snap mechanism and cause a shutdown, with the forces of the bimetal and the pretensioning spring being superimposed.
- Fig. 1 shows a conventional hotplate 11 with a cast body, which has on its underside separated by ribs spiral grooves in which the heater 12 is arranged in an investment.
- a heated annular space 19 into which an overheating protection switch 16 projects.
- the housing 22 of the overheating protection switch protrudes through an opening 21 of the cover 18 and is supported on it by shoulders 57.
- the cover with the free ends of housing projections 49 presses it against the hotplate underside 50, i.e. the underside of the heating in the heated annulus 19.
- the overheating protection switch 16 is electrically connected by means of a connecting lug 28 to a connecting wire 14 which leads to a conventional connecting piece 17 which is attached to a mounting plate somewhat outside the hotplate.
- a connecting lug 35 to be seen in FIGS. 2 and 3 in the interior 19 Side of the overheating protection switch is connected to a heating resistor 12.
- connection to the heating resistors 12 follows in the usual way via connecting pins 13 protruding from the investment material, to which connecting lines 15 are welded.
- the overheating protection switch in addition to its own electrical connections via the connecting lugs 28 and 35 for fixing and guiding the other connecting wires 15, has bushings 52 in the form of a plurality of openings or holes provided in the housing 22.
- the connecting wires 15 protrude through them, so that the overheating protection switch simultaneously fulfills the task of an insulation bushing through the lower cover 18.
- FIGS. 2 to 4 The structure of the overheating protection switch 16 is shown in detail in FIGS. 2 to 4, with FIG. 2 representing the open or switch-off position and FIG. 3 the normal, closed switch-on position of the switch.
- It has a housing 22, the base part 53 of which has an elongated inner laterally open recess 23.
- the housing 22 is closed on the upper side, and laterally it is closed off by a cover part 48, the parts of which protrude beyond the base part 53 form the housing projections 49 in the form of downwardly projecting feet arranged near the narrow sides of the housing.
- the fixed contact 24 of a snap switch 62 is arranged on the central part of a flat component 25, the left end 26 of which extends in a slot 27 open on one side and the outer end 28 bent at right angles extends through a slot 29 in the housing 22 to the outside.
- the outer end 28 forms a connection tab.
- the power supply to the movable contact 31 of the snap switch 62 takes place via an elongated snap switch Carrier 30, which is bent several times approximately at right angles and whose part 32 is fixed in a continuous slot 33 by insertion.
- the latter has a bend 34 approximately in its center, with which it bears against the wall of the recess 33.
- the outer end 35 of the component 30 also forms a connection tab.
- a notch 37 is made, in which the cutting edge 38 of the snap switch lever 39 is mounted.
- the end of the snap switch lever 39 assigned to the cutting edge 38 is conductively connected to the end of the snap switch carrier 30 via a soldered-on metallic wire 40.
- a resilient tongue 41 is connected, which is biased such that it rests on the snap switch carrier 30 in the unloaded state.
- the free end 42 of the tongue 41 is bent to form an acute angle, the free end of the snap switch spring 43 engaging in this acute angle.
- a pin 45 inserted with play in a bore 44 of the housing 22 engages, the other end of which is acted upon by the bimetal strip 46. Due to the pretensioning of the tongue 41, it normally rests on the snap switch carrier 30.
- a leaf spring 60 running parallel to the bimetal 46 with a trough receiving the pin 45, the latter is held in contact with the tongue 41, so that it always assumes a defined position and cannot tilt.
- One end of the bimetallic strip 46 is welded to the section of the snap switch carrier 30 lying outside the housing 22. 2 and 3, the narrowly hatched area represents the part of the bimetallic strip which has the greater coefficient of thermal expansion.
- An adjusting screw 47 is inserted into the free end of the bimetallic strip 46. With it, the opening or Closing temperature of the overheating protection switch 16 can be set.
- the bimetallic strip 46 bends in such a way that its free end in FIG. 2 is pivoted upwards, this movement being transmitted through the pin 45 to the tongue 41 and thus to the right end of the snap switch spring 43.
- the snap switch lever 39 snaps into the position shown in FIG. 2, in which the two contacts 24 and 31 are separated from one another and the circuit is thus open.
- the cover part 48 covers the recess 23 of the base part 53 and is fastened to it by means of fastening rivets 54 (FIGS. 2 and 3).
- the metallic components of the switch inserted into the slots of the base part and the bimetallic strip are also secured against falling out.
- the protrusions fix the overheat protection switch 16 and ensure an exact distance of the bimetal from the heater, and they have a relatively small cross-section to ensure their thermal Keep mass low. They also provide mechanical protection for the bimetal.
- the bushings 52 already mentioned protrude through the cover part, so that the connecting wires 15 can be passed through the cover 18 without risk of contact with other conductive parts.
- the overheating protection switch shown in FIG. 5 is similar to that of FIG. 2 except for the following differences: the snap switch carrier 30 leads with one end through a slot on the side facing away from the bimetal and is thereby fixed and forms a connecting tongue 35 'for the power supply. The other end is also angled and lies in a slot, which is, however, within the housing.
- the bimetal is essentially Z-shaped and riveted to the snap switch carrier 30 'with a shorter leg.
- This arrangement increases the effective length of the bimetal and also keeps the snap switch carrier away from the hot area, so that heat penetration into the recess 23 is reduced by heat conduction.
- the leaf spring 60 ' has essentially the same Z shape as the bimetal, is also fastened to the snap switch carrier 30' and lies between the latter or the housing and the bimetal. At its end it has an opening through which a tapered pin of the rod-like transmission member 45 'projects. The other end of the transmission pin 45 'is offset in the same way and protrudes through an opening component fastened to the resilient tongue 41 ', so that the transmission rod is fixed under pressure between the leaf spring 60' and the resilient tongue 41 ', which guide it in the manner of a parallelogram guide. The leaf spring 60 'presses against the force of this resilient tongue or the snap spring tongue 43 and sets this under a pretension.
- both forces add up, so that even greater switching forces of the snap switch 63 can be overcome without undue stress on the bimetal.
- the non-positive parallelogram guidance eliminates any switching inaccuracies caused by wobbling the transmission pin.
- the bimetal is free of force during normal operation, i.e. when the hotplate is not overheated, and is therefore not exposed to permanent stress that could lead to bending.
- the safe position of the transmission pin makes it easy to adjust the switch by moving an adjustment wedge between the adjustment screw 47 and the transmission pin 45 ', so that the desired switching temperature can be set with a small adjustment of the short adjustment screw.

Description
The invention relates to an electric hotplate with an overheating protection switch according to the preamble of claim 1.
In DE-PS 1 615 258 (= GB-PS 1 212 941), the overheating protection switch used in the lower hotplate cover has a ceramic housing, in the interior of which a bimetal strip and a snap switch are arranged. It is supported with its housing on the underside of the hotplate and, in addition to its connection to the power supply and to hotplate fastenings for further hotplate connections, so that it simultaneously forms the connection leadthrough the hotplate cover. In DE-GM 68 03 971 the fastenings are designed as openings in the housing.
Screw connections, which contains the hotplate and on the outside Hotplate is attached. A separate part is inserted into the cover for making the hotplate connections. An arched bimetal protrudes through the lower cover into the space below the hotplate and transfers its working movement to the switch in the housing by means of a push rod.
Eine vergleichbare Anordnung ist aus der DE-PS 26 20 004 (=GB-PS 1,577,367) bekannt.A comparable arrangement is known from DE-PS 26 20 004 (= GB-PS 1,577,367).
According to DE-PS 1 123 059 a circuit breaker is known which consists of a small hollow ceramic body into which a snap switch influenced by a bimetal strip is inserted. It is located in the unheated center of the hotplate. Bimetal strips and switches are located in the housing, which is attached to the underside of the hotplate.
The invention has for its object to provide a hotplate with an overheat protection switch, in which the responsiveness is improved and the thermal inertia is reduced with simple manufacture, so that the overheat protection switch responds faster and more accurately to a temperature rise and fall of the hotplate.
This object is achieved according to the invention by the characterizing part of claim 1. This makes it possible to expose only the bimetallic strip to the heat of the hotplate, while the actual switch inside the housing remains protected from excessive heat. Since only the bimetallic strip is heated by the radiant heat of the hotplate and this has a lower mass, the bimetallic strip also responds more quickly. In addition, the space receiving it can be small and relatively tight.
The overheating protection holder at the same time forms the feed-through part with which, in addition to the connections connected to the switch, the other hotplate connections are also fixed and guided through the lower hotplate cover into the interior of the heated annular space of the hotplate. The housing is preferably supported with a shoulder on the edge of an opening of the cover and stands on the underside of the hotplate with housing projections, which are preferably designed as relatively thin feet on both narrow sides of the housing. This creates a well-ventilated, free space in which the bimetal is arranged and thus exposed to radiant heat and convection. Since it is hardly enclosed by the ceramic housing of the overheating protection switch, the bimetal follows the temperature of the heating much better, so that the overheating protection switch is not a timer, as was the case with the previous versions, but a real temperature switch. Existing overheating protection switches required so long to switch on again after the single switch-off, due to the high thermal inertia and inertia of the switching behavior, that during normal operation the hotplate was only operated with part of its power and did not have sufficient power.
The structure of the switch can be particularly simple according to the preferred embodiment of the invention if the housing is formed in two parts from a base part and a cover part, the space in the base part being arranged in the form of a laterally open recess which is closed by the cover part placed on the side . The cover part can preferably have the housing projections resting on the underside of the hotplate. In this way, it is possible to fix the components of the switch and the bimetal by inserting them laterally into slots in the base part of the housing and by bring the lid part secure. The shape of the ceramic parts is very simple, which makes it easier to manufacture them from steatite.
The construction of the switch means that the mass of the overheating protection switch housing, which is close to the heating and below the cover, can be kept low. This not only has the already explained advantage that the switch responds faster, but also ensures that when the hotplate is heated up, these parts heat up quickly and thus no cold condensation point is created at which condensation water can precipitate, which increases the leakage currents.
The design is also very advantageous with regard to the switch, because the switch, which is preferably designed as a snap-action switch with a clamped spring tongue, is loaded in the normal on state by a contact pressure spring, and the transmission element is always held in a defined position, thereby preventing displacement or tilting becomes. Only when the switch is activated does the transmission element engage the bimetal snap mechanism and cause a shutdown, with the forces of the bimetal and the pretensioning spring being superimposed.

The power supply to the
With the
As the temperature rises, the
When the temperature drops, the
As can be seen in particular from FIG. 4, the
The
The overheating protection switch shown in FIG. 5 is similar to that of FIG. 2 except for the following differences: the
The leaf spring 60 'has essentially the same Z shape as the bimetal, is also fastened to the snap switch carrier 30' and lies between the latter or the housing and the bimetal. The leaf spring 60 'presses against the force of this resilient tongue or the
