Definitions

  • the invention is based on a registration metal paper with a paper support onto which a lacquer or printing ink layer pigmented with carbon black and then a vapor-deposited, burn-out metal layer are applied.
  • a registration metal paper is known for example from GB-A 13 25 033.
  • the record carrier for recording devices described there has a tape-like carrier made of paper, to which a layer of lacquer is initially applied.
  • a burn-out metal layer preferably an aluminum layer, is evaporated onto this intermediate layer.
  • a matting agent is added to the lacquer layer in order to achieve a clearer typeface.
  • the matting agents according to this document which generally have a particle diameter between 0.01 and 25 ⁇ m and are contained in the lacquer layer with a weight fraction between 1% and 400% of the resin, are said to bring about the roughness required to improve the surface mattness.
  • a pigment for example carbon black
  • the matting agent can be added to the liquid lacquer.
  • only the pigment carbon black is added, which is said to cause the required roughness of the metal surface by a high proportion by weight.
  • the publication gives no information about the particle size of the added pigments.
  • the final grain size of the matting particles that are still subjected to a grinding process during the production process of the lacquer is also not specified.
  • the object of the present invention is to reduce the high proportion by weight of soot in the lacquer layer if the required roughness of the surface of the metal layer is to be achieved with this pigment.
  • the diameter of at least some of the pigments is greater than the thickness of the lacquer or printing ink layer and that these pigments consist of soot agglomerates (secondary grains).
  • the coarse grain of the pigments keeps the hot recording electrode away from the coating or printing ink film, since the electrode does not slide on the actual coating or printing ink surface during recording, but on the outstanding soot grains.
  • the term “diameter” generally stands for the grain size of the soot agglomerate, which is generally not a spherical structure.
  • a further improvement of the registration metal paper according to the invention results from the fact that in addition to carbon black agglomerates, other pigments are added to the lacquer or the printing ink, as a result of which special effects can be achieved.
  • 10 denotes a paper tape onto which a lacquer or printing ink layer 11 is applied.
  • Pigments 12 and 13 are embedded in the layer 11, with 12 carbon black pigments of different diameters and 13 another pigment.
  • a burnable metal layer 14 preferably an aluminum layer, which is evaporated in a vacuum.
  • the metal layer could also consist of zinc and / or cadmium.
  • the diameter of at least some of the pigments is greater than the thickness of the lacquer or printing ink layer 11.
  • the paper support has a thickness of approximately 50 to 100 .mu.m, the thickness of the lacquer or printing ink layer is in the range between 1 and 10 microns, preferably at 2 pm.
  • the pigments embedded here consist on the one hand of small soot agglomerates with a diameter ⁇ 1.0 ⁇ m, which are completely embedded in the lacquer or printing ink layer.
  • the soot agglomerates used according to the invention, the so-called secondary grains are compressed primary pigments which are then broken down to the desired grain size in a comminution process.
  • the diameter of the soot agglomerates is in the range between approximately 2 and 20 ⁇ m, preferably in the range between 5 and 15 ⁇ m, with a focus on one diameter of about 5 ⁇ m.
  • the proportion of the carbon black pigments is approx. 3% by weight of the wet proportion of the lacquer or printing ink; this proportion can vary in the range from about 0.5 to 5% by weight.
  • the thickness of the evaporated metal layer is between about 0.01 and 0.1 ⁇ m, preferably between about 0.05 and 0.1 ⁇ m.
  • the lacquer or printing ink layer can be added as a further pigment 13, for example one or more of the substances iron oxide, barium sulfate, silicates, nickel titanate or phthalocyanines, in particular heliogen blue, with a grain size of approximately 2 ⁇ m to 20 ⁇ m.
  • the addition of undyed calcium carbonate causes a certain gray coloration of the black contrast layer due to the carbon black pigments, which is avoided by coloring the pigment calcium carbonate accordingly.
  • the coloring or coloring of the calcium carbonate takes place with dyes dissolved in solvents and therefore requires a porous structure of the pigment to be colored.
  • the precipitation of the calcium carbonate from a solution leads to a porous structure which is well suited for staining or staining.
  • Another possibility is to use calcium carbonate in the presence of dark compounds, e.g. Manganese salts to precipitate.
  • the preceding statements concern paper as a carrier material for the recording medium.
  • a more stable plastic carrier as the base.
  • the invention can also be applied in the same way to such a plastic carrier.
  • the coarse-grained pigments inevitably also fulfill the function of matting the surface, which is already present to a certain extent due to the rougher paper surface, especially in the case of less satin paper.
  • the lacquer layer contains fine-grained soot, which provides the blackness required for the contrast and also the micro-roughness required for the legibility and self-cleaning of the electrodes.
  • the writing electrodes heat up so strongly that thermal decomposition of the lacquer creates residues on the writing electrodes, which settle on them and lead to a firmly adhering, electrically insulating layer on the writing electrodes. This disrupts or even completely interrupts the writing process.
  • the hot electrode is kept away from the coating film by suitable pigmentation. This is done by selecting the type, size and number of pigments so that the writing electrode is wholly or partly carried by the pigments protruding from the film while sliding over the surface of the recording metal paper.
  • the hardness of the pigments is chosen so that, on the one hand, the protruding parts of the grains are not removed too much by the electrode and, on the other hand, the electrodes do not wear out too much.
  • Particularly good results have been achieved with the mixture of different pigments, in particular with a mixture with the carbon black. With this measure, practically no more deposits appeared on the electrode or electrodes.
  • Tape-like material is usually used as the carrier and the finished registration metal paper is then in roll form.
  • Tape-like material is usually used as the carrier and the finished registration metal paper is then in roll form.
