Abstract

The foldable box has a lid (12) which is hinged to one side wall (7) and has in each case on its free edges an extension portion (25, 29, 30) which is bonded or sealed to the adjacent side wall (8, 9, 10). The lid (12) and the extension portion (25) facing away from its attachment point are provided with perforation lines (36, 37, 32, 33, 31, 34) for opening the folding box, at least the perforation lines of the lid being formed in such a way that relatively tight reclosure is possible after opening. The side wall (9) facing away from the attachment point of the lid is coated with printing ink in order to reduce the sealing force of the sealing medium located beneath it to such an extent that easy opening is possible. <IMAGE>

Description

The invention relates to a folding box made of cardboard or the like, with a bottom section, four side walls and a lid section which is articulated on a side wall and each has an extension section on its three free edges, which covers the adjacent side wall.

Such folding boxes are known for many purposes. In order to remove the filling material, they are generally destroyed in the sealed version. If, however, a product is to be packed that is not consumed all at once, it is necessary to design the folding box so that it is not completely destroyed when it is opened. It is also advisable to provide a resealable option.

This object is achieved in that the lid portion is provided with tear lines for opening the folding box, which are designed as perforations or incisions and attached from both surfaces to about the middle of the cardboard layer, the tear lines attached from both surfaces offset from each other are arranged, and wherein the tear lines provided on the surface facing the inside of the box have a smaller distance from one another than those on the outside of the box.

As a result, a support for the lid section is created during reclosing and at the same time a relatively good sealing of the tear lines is achieved, so that even scatterable and free-flowing material can be safely stored in the folded box once opened.

It is also very advantageous if, according to the invention, the tear lines on the outside of the box are designed as continuous incision lines and on the inside of the box as interrupted perforations. This ensures that the folding box is torn open relatively easily when it is opened for the first time.

An advantageous further development of the subject matter of the invention also lies in the fact that at least two of the tear lines extend to the free end of the extension section opposite the articulation line of the cover section. This makes opening the folding box much easier.

In the case of a folding box with a firmly adhering adhesive or seal connection between the side walls and the extension sections of the cover section, it is particularly advantageous if, according to the invention, an area of the extension section opposite the articulation point of the cover section extends only a relatively weak adhesive or seal connection with the side wall.

This relatively weak connection facilitates opening the folding box for the first time, without, however, having to accept an automatic opening, for example during transport.

This reduced adhesive or seal strength can be achieved according to the invention in that the area with relatively weak adhesive or seal connection has partial application of the adhesive or sealant.

It is possible to apply the adhesive or sealing agent in a dot or strip form.

According to the invention, however, it is also possible for the area with a relatively weak adhesive or seal connection to have at least partial coverage of the adhesive or seal layer by a non-adhesive or sealing means, for example printing ink, which weakens the adhesive or seal connection .

The cover can be formed over the entire surface, whereby the overall adhesive or sealing force is reduced.

However, it is also possible to provide a spot or strip-shaped or the like designed cover of the adhesive or sealing surface.

1 in FIG. 1 denotes a cardboard blank which has a bottom section 2, the four boundary edges of which are formed as bending lines 3, 4, 5 and 6, via which side walls 7, 8, 9 and 10 are articulated on the bottom section. A cover section 12 is connected to the side wall 7 via a link line 11. Also on the side wall 7, two tabs 13, 14 are arranged above bending lines 15, 16, which, like two further tabs 17, 18, which are provided on the side wall 9 via bending lines 19, 20, serve to mutually lock the side walls with one another. For this purpose, incisions 21, 22, 23, 24 are provided in the side walls 8 and 10, in which the flaps 13, 14, 17, 18 are able to partially enclose.

The cover section 12 has an extension section 25 opposite the articulation line 11, which is connected to the cover section 12 via a bending line 26, and two further extension sections 29, 30 articulated on the other two edges under bending lines 27 and 28.

In order to be able to grip this tab 38 better, a trough 39 (FIG. 3) is provided at the lower end of the side wall 9, which is formed by dividing the bending line 5 into two arcuately diverging line sections 55, 56 when the folding box is erected.

The outer edge of the side wall 9 also has an arcuate section 57 which is intended to make it easier to grasp the central strip 35 when it is opened repeatedly.

The outside of the side walls 8, 9, 10 and the inner sides of the extension sections 25, 29, 30 facing them are coated in a manner not shown with a sealing medium which can be activated by the action of heat. In the area of the surface 40 of the side wall 9, the sealing force is reduced by applying printing ink to such an extent that sealing can take place, but an easy detachment of the flap 38 from the surface 40 is made possible.

It would also be possible to reduce the sealing force in that the sealing medium is applied in the form of strips or dots in the area of the surface 40 and the holding surface is thus reduced. A partial coverage of the sealing medium by printing ink or the like would also be conceivable.

To close the folding box, starting from the state shown in FIG. 3, the lid section is bent until it rests on the lower part (FIG. 4). Then the side walls 8, 9 and 10 and the extension sections 25, 29 and 30 are blown with the flap 38 with hot air and plasticized their thermoplastic surface.

The folding box is then closed by further bending the extension sections up to the side walls (FIG. 5).

To open the folding box, the flap 38 is grasped in the region of the trough 39 formed by the line sections 55, 56 and separated from the extension section 25 along the perforation lines 36, 37 (FIG. 6). If the tab 38 is pulled further, the cardboard layer of the lid section splits between the cutting lines 31 and 32 or 33 and 34 and the central strip 35 is separated from the lid section 12.

To reclose the folding box, support surfaces are thus formed for the median strip, which also ensure that the tear lines are sealed.

The flap 38 is inserted behind the side wall 9 during this reclosing and can be gripped in the arcuate section 57 of the side wall 9 for repeated opening.

As can be seen particularly from FIGS. 1 and 3, the two perforation lines 36 and 37 each have an outwardly directed, arc-shaped section 60, 61 which, when closed again, engages behind the edges formed by the cutting lines 32 and 33 and thereby the cover is relatively firm holds on the bottom of the box.
