The z. B. from DE-PS 1 181 584 known edge grinding machines of this type are used in particular for chamfering or chamfering the sharp edges of glass panes, glass or stone slabs, or the like. The grinding unit is guided by rotating the horizontal cantilever arm around the workpiece clamped on the upper end of the stand and at the same time is held in engagement with the workpiece by constant contact of the guide roller against the peripheral surface of the workpiece and by displacement in the longitudinal direction of the cantilever arm. The grinding wheel inclined with its lower head surface towards the workpiece plane is pressed from top to bottom against the respective upper peripheral edge of the workpiece, whereby it only engages with the workpiece edge with the lowest section of its inclined head surface.

The object of the invention is, in the case of the edge grinding machines of the type described at the outset, to set and readjust the inclined position of the grinding spindle relative to the workpiece on the one hand and the cutting edge. H. To allow grinding depth or the peripheral speed of the grinding wheel on the other hand.

According to the invention, this object is achieved in that the grinding unit with the aid of a first circular arc-shaped guide around a horizontal, parallel to the cantilever arm, i. H. radially to the workpiece pivot axis is pivotally and fixably attached to an intermediate holder, which with the aid of a second circular-arc guide around a horizontal, transverse to the cantilever arm d. H. The swivel axis, which is oriented tangentially to the workpiece, can be pivoted and locked on the slide, which can be moved in the longitudinal direction of the cantilever arm, the grinding wheel at the lower end of a vertical, driven by a hydraulic motor, fastened in the grinding unit by hand confirmation up and down, and the downward stroke of the grinding spindle at least one adjustable stop is limited.

In the embodiment of the edge grinding machine according to the invention, the inclined position of the lower head surface of the grinding wheel with respect to the workpiece plane can be pivoted by pivoting the grinding unit with the aid of circular-arc guides around two mutually perpendicular, horizontal pivot axes, one of which is approximately radial to the workpiece and the other approximately tangential to the workpiece , precise and also very easy to set or readjust. The drive of the grinding spindle with the aid of a hydraulic motor makes it possible to use the known, easy controllability of the hydraulic motors for the adjustment or readjustment of the rotational speed of the grinding spindle or the peripheral speed of the grinding wheel and the speeds mentioned to the respective properties of the workpiece or Adjust grinding wheel. The adjustable stop to limit the downward stroke of the grinding spindle, which can be moved up and down by hand, enables the cutting or grinding depth to be adjusted or adjusted and, at the same time, ensures uniform chamfering of the workpiece edges.

A particularly advantageous, preferred embodiment of the edge grinding machine according to the invention is characterized in that the grinding wheel is held at the lower end of the grinding spindle by means of a fastening screw which is coaxially pierced through the grinding spindle from above and the head of this fastening screw provided at the upper end of the grinding spindle is in the uppermost one End position of the grinding spindle comes into engagement with a suitable wrench that is freely rotatable in the grinding unit for turning the fastening screw when attaching and removing the grinding wheel.

The illustrated edge grinding machine is intended in particular for chamfering or chamfering the sharp edges of glass panes, glass plates, stone plates or the like. It consists of a stand A which has a clamping device at its upper end for the glass plate D lying in a horizontal position. In the preferred embodiment shown, this clamping device consists of a plurality of suction clamps C directed upwards, some of which are provided directly on the upper end of the stand and some on horizontally pivotable arm B projecting therefrom. The glass plate D lies on this in a horizontal plane suction clamps C and is held by suction. The edge part of the clamped glass plate D with the edge D 'to be machined projecting laterally over the entire glass plate circumference is freely accessible both from above and from below.

A horizontal cantilever arm E directed radially to the stand A is rotatably mounted at least a full 360 ° around the stand A and carries one on the cantilever arm E from and to the stand A, i. H. from and to the glass plate D which is clamped thereon a slide or carriage F. A grinding unit 1 is arranged on this slide or carriage F, which has a preferably pot-shaped, plate-shaped or ring-shaped grinding wheel M which overlaps the edge part of the glass plate D. In addition, a counter pressure roller R2 is rotatably mounted on the slide M, which supports the glass plate D in the working area of the grinding wheel M.

The grinding unit 1 consists of a housing 2 which contains an approximately vertical grinding spindle 6 and the hydraulically actuated drive motor 10 (hereinafter referred to as hydraulic motor) which is axially parallel to the grinding spindle. The grinding spindle 6 is rotatably supported by means of ball bearings (4) and a spacer sleeve 5 in an outer, coaxial spindle sleeve 3 and is driven by the hydraulic motor 10 via a flat belt 8, a pulley 9 fastened to the motor shaft and one on the upper end of the grinding spindle 6 attached pulley 7 driven. The two pulleys 7, 9 are relatively wide, in particular designed as belt drums, in order to enable the grinding spindle 6 to move up and down relative to the housing 2 or the hydraulic motor 10 attached to it.

The spindle sleeve 3 is slidably guided up and down in the housing 2 of the grinding unit and can be moved with the aid of a hand lever 16. The hand lever 16 is firmly seated on a shaft 15 to which a pair of mutually spring-loaded toothed sectors 14, 114 are connected in a rotationally fixed manner. These tooth sectors 14, 114 are in engagement with an outer, axially parallel toothing 103 of the spindle sleeve 3. The spindle sleeve 3 can be fixed in the housing 2 with the aid of a radially directed clamping screw 27 with a lever handle.

The grinding wheel M is fastened to an overlying flange 11, which engages with an upper middle shoulder 111 in a centering hole provided in the head end in the lower end of the grinding spindle 6. The grinding wheel M is fastened to the grinding spindle 6 with the aid of a screw 13 which is coaxially inserted from above through the grinding spindle 6 and screwed into a corresponding threaded hole in the central flange shoulder 111. The polygonal head 113 of the fastening screw 13 projects from the upper head end of the grinding spindle 6 into a central recess in the associated pulley 7 and is freely accessible from above. Coaxial to the grinding spindle 6 and consequently also coaxial to the fastening screw 13, a tubular socket wrench 25 matching the polygonal head 113 of the fastening screw 13 is freely rotatably mounted in the upper end wall of the housing 2 and is rotated from the outside with the aid of a rotary knob 26, rotary handle or the like can be. With the help of the hand lever 16, the tooth sectors 14, 114 and the toothing 103, the spindle sleeve 3 with the grinding spindle 6 can be raised so far that the polygonal head 113 of the fastening screw 13 engages from below in the stationary, tubular socket wrench 25. In this uppermost position of the grinding spindle 6, after the spindle sleeve 6 has been fixed with the aid of the clamping screw 27, the grinding wheel M can be removed or attached, the fastening screw 13 using the upper, outer rotary handle 26 and the tubular socket wrench 25 connected therewith rotated, d. H. is screwed in and out.

The cutting or grinding depth of the grinding wheel M when chamfering or chamfering the glass plate edge D 'depends on the downward stroke of the spindle sleeve 3 with the grinding spindle 6. The downward stroke of the grinding spindle is consequently limited and adjustable depending on the given thickness of the glass plate D or depending on the desired width of the edge bevel. For this purpose, a parallel to the grinding spindle 6 rod 18 is slidably mounted in the housing 2 of the grinding unit 1, which is led out of the housing 2 with its upper, thinner end 218. The rod 18 has an axially parallel toothing 118, with which a gear 17 fastened on the shaft 15 of the hand lever 16 is in engagement. The upper end 218 of the rod 18 is overlapped by a stop head 20 which is rotatably mounted on the upper outside of the housing 2 about an axis 21 parallel to the rod 18 and carries a ring of axially parallel stop screws 19 arranged on the same pitch circle. These stop screws 19 are screwed into continuous, vertical bores of the stop head 20 and project on the underside thereof. By turning the stop head 20 the stop screws 19 can be individually adjusted approximately coaxially one after the other via the rod 18. The corresponding stepwise rotation of the stop head 20 is ensured with the aid of a detent ball 22 which, under the action of a spring 23, engages in detent recesses 24 which are arranged according to the angular distances between the stop screws 19. The spring-loaded locking ball 22 can, for. B. be stored in the stop head 20, while the locking recesses 24 are provided in the upper outer surface of the housing 2. However, an inverted arrangement is also possible.

When lowering the spindle sleeve 3 together with the grinding spindle 6 by actuating the hand lever 16, the rod 18 is in the opposite direction, i. H. shifted upwards, at the end of the downward movement of the grinding spindle 6, it abuts against the stop screw 19 set via the upper rod end 218 and thereby limits the downward stroke of the grinding spindle. The individual stop screws 19 can, for. B. can be set so that depending on the different thicknesses of the glass plates D to be processed project differently downwards from the stop head 20 and consequently determine different downward strokes of the grinding spindle 6. If the thickness of the glass plates D to be processed changes, only the stop head 20 needs to be rotated and the stop screw 19 corresponding to the new plate thickness needs to be brought coaxially over the rod 18. The width of the chamfer or the chamfer of the plate edge D 'can be adjusted or adjusted by rotating the individual stop screws 19.

The pivot axis 29 lies approximately in the lower head surface of the grinding wheel M and thereby intersects the axis of rotation of the grinding wheel M, as is shown in particular in FIG. In the upper circular wall section 30 of the box-shaped intermediate holder 34, a threaded bolt 31 is fixed, which engages through an elongated hole 32 in the pivoting direction of the grinding unit 1 of the adjacent, lower, circular wall section 28 of the housing 2 and one inside through a housing 2 side opening 33 accessible screw nut carries. With the help of this bolt 31, the housing 2 of the grinding unit 1 can be fixed in its angular position set with respect to the intermediate holder 34.

The intermediate carrier 34 has a lateral, circular arc-shaped cheek 35 which bears against a corresponding, circular arc-shaped guide flange 36 which projects upwards from the carriage or carriage F. As a result, the intermediate holder 34, together with the grinding unit 1, can be moved through the center of curvature of the cheek 35 and the guide flange 36 transversely to the longitudinal axis of the cantilever arm E d. H. pivot axis 129 extending at right angles to the pivot axis 29 can be pivoted to a limited extent. This pivot axis 129 also lies approximately in the lower head surface of the grinding wheel M and passes through the axis of rotation of the grinding wheel M, as can be seen in particular from FIG. The circular arc-shaped cheek 35 of the intermediate holder 34 can be positively connected to the circular-arc-shaped guide flange 36 of the slide F and can be fixed on the guide flange 36 with the aid of a manually operated clamping or locking device 37.

With the aid of the two circular guides 28, 30 and 35, 36, the grinding unit 1 can be pivoted and adjusted about the two pivot axes 29 and 129, which run at right angles to one another, such that the lower, circular head surface of the grinding wheel M is opposite the desired or required the plane of the glass plate D assumes an inclined working position in which the grinding wheel M only engages with the beveled edge D 'of the glass plate D in the region of a limited section M' of its lower, circular head surface.

On the carriage F or on the intermediate holder 34, a guide roller R1 with a vertical axis is freely rotatable and adjustable in height. In operation, the grinding unit 1 z. B. in the direction of the arrow Z2 in such a way around the glass plate D to be machined that the guide roller R1 continuously bears against the peripheral surface of the glass pane D. The cantilever arm E is rotated around the stand A and the carriage F with the grinding unit 1 is moved on the cantilever arm E. The grinding wheel M is pressed with the help of the hand lever 16 from above against the upper, sharp peripheral edge D 'of the glass plate D. The direction of rotation of the grinding wheel M is indicated by the arrow direction Z1 in FIG. The adjustable limitation of the downward stroke of the grinding wheel M ensures a uniformly wide bevel D "of the glass plate edge D '. The working area M' of the grinding wheel M is supplied with cooling or rinsing liquid with the aid of a tube 38 passed through the tubular or annular guide roller R1.
