Definitions
- the present invention relates to an electronic timepiece comprising a time base, a frequency divider, a stepping motor driving the hands indicating the minutes and hours, an electric switch manually operable to reset the said indicator hands to the time arranged in such a way that in response to a short action on the switch, the minute hand advances by one minute and in response to a long action on the switch, the hand minutes travels at an accelerated speed around a dial without stopping.
- the object of the present invention is to provide the timepiece described above with an additional function which is that in which it can be stopped in a state of minimum consumption or storage state, it being understood that it is always the same push button that takes care of this new function.
- Patent DE 27 30 330 describes a watch provided with a function selector, a particular position or condition of the so-called storage logic circuit placed for convenience at the start or at the end of the command sequence for the functions which 'it is possible to perform, creates a signal which activates an erase circuit and a timer.
- this is an arrangement intended for a timepiece comprising a function selector which, for example, makes it possible to obtain the storage position in turn and then the hour / minute or date displays / seconds then finally the conditioning of the watch to correct the time, this correction being necessarily carried out by means of a time corrector.
- This provision obliges to provide a timer intended to avoid the loss of the hour when, during the selection of the functions, the selector passes from one position to another position via the storage position.
- the timepiece according to the present invention does not have a function selector, but only a time corrector which reacts differently on the display depending on whether the corrector is subjected to a short press ( advance minute by minute) or long press (advance by at least one time zone). So we don't see what other action, different rent of those above, it would be necessary to exercise on the pusher to have the watch in the storage position. As will be seen further on, it is while the minute hand travels through its time zone that an impulse exerted on the pusher will place the watch in a state of reduced consumption. This arrangement is neither described nor even suggested in the quotation in question.
- Patent application DE 25 13 134 describes a time setting system using a single pusher.
- a first action on this pusher causes the hands of the watch to run rapidly, a second action stops the walking and a third action restarts the hands in normal operation.
- it is a cam, secured for example to the seconds hand, which automatically stops at noon said seconds hand.
- the second action on the pusher or, alternatively, the action of the cam aims to stop the hands to allow them to restart in good time at the top of the time signal. This is therefore a time setting and not a storage position which is also not envisaged.
- the cited request does not correspond to the generic definition of the present invention which distinguishes between a short duration action (setting to the minute) and a long duration action (setting in the time zone) on the pusher during which the storage of the watch.
- the second hand is accelerated as soon as the pusher is actuated, regardless of how long this action is carried out.
- Patent application DE 26 58 326 proposes an electronic timepiece equipped with two pushers S 1 and S 2 .
- the motor turns in one direction and when the second is activated, the motor turns in the other direction.
- the two pushers must be pressed simultaneously.
- the storage state can be advantageous for several reasons. From the time the watch leaves final inspection in the factory until it finds a buyer at a retailer, it can take several months or even a few years. If the energy source (pi the) could remain permanently connected to a reduced charge (so-called storage charge) and that with a simple manual control we could switch from the reduced charge to the normal charge (normal running of the watch), we would appreciably increase the battery life. In addition, for aesthetic reasons, the retailer likes to present his watches in a state where the hands all occupy the same position (for example the 10 o'clock and 10 minute position). Finally, the wearer of the watch himself may want to put it in storage state, which could be the case of a piece of jewelry that is only worn occasionally.
- the correction mode selector 6 via line 7 sets counter 24 to zero which, if it contains between 30 and 59 pulses, sends a minute correction pulse to the switcher 2 and to the motor 4. Other short presses on the pusher 5 will then advance the needle by one step per pressure while resetting the counter 24.
- the timepiece comprises, in addition to the normal running and correction functions which have just been explained, an additional function which is the subject of the present invention which makes it possible to arrange it in a state of minimum consumption or state of storage and that will be explained now.
- an additional function which is the subject of the present invention which makes it possible to arrange it in a state of minimum consumption or state of storage and that will be explained now.
- the pusher-corrector 5 it is necessary to use the same pusher-corrector 5 as that used for setting the time of the watch.
- the pusher performs the two functions of setting the minute and setting the time respectively.
- the push button is therefore not available between the two said functions to activate the new storage function.
- the invention takes advantage of the fact that this availability is total while the hand travels through a time zone.
- the minute hand travels through the time zone in 1.875 seconds if the frequency of the advance pulses is 32 Hz. It follows that during this time the pusher can be actuated at least once to put the watch in its storage state .
- FIG. 1 is a block diagram of the first two alternative embodiments according to the invention, the first variant being that of the diagram without the link 17. It comprises, in addition to the elements already described above, a pulse counter 9 followed by a switch circuit 14 which cuts all or part of the power supply to the timepiece.
- first push button 5 for at least three seconds. This action activates the line 8 and authorizes the counter 9 to take into account the pulses coming from 5 by the line 12.
- the switch circuit 14 cuts off the supply line 16 which normally supplies at least the shaping circuit 3.
- the watch is put in a storage state and, in this alternative embodiment, the needles stop as soon as said storage signal has been received, that is to say stop in any position.
- FIG. 1 The second variant of embodiment according to the invention is also presented by FIG. 1 where we find the elements 9 and 14 already described in connection with the first variant with in addition a line 17 connecting the counter 10 to the switch circuit 14.
- the cut-off signal from the counter 9 does not immediately cut the supply line 16.
- the line 17 forces the switch circuit 14 to delay the storage time until the counter 10 contains 60 pulses, that is to say when the time zone, controlled by the pulse of more than three seconds, has been traversed in its entirety by the hands.
- the minute hand in response to the storage pulse, ends its dial turn before the watch goes into storage state.
- the variant described makes it possible to satisfy the retailer since it allows him to store his watches in a state where the hands all occupy the same position. If it is assumed that the preferred storage position is the indication 10 hours 10 minutes, we will first bring the hands to 9 hours 10 minutes then in a second time we will press the push-button for a time zone advance, said pusher being actuated one last time during said advance. The watch will then be in storage condition at the preferred position of 10 hours 10 minutes. Contrary to what has been explained with regard to the first variant where the hand stops immediately during the storage pulse, this second variant does not make it possible to immediately verify whether the watch has been properly set storage state since its minute hand traverses a complete time zone as it happens during a normal time setting.
- FIG. 2 is a block diagram of a third alternative embodiment according to the invention.
- the switch circuit 14 When the switch circuit 14 has received the order by line 15 to store the watch, the minute hand will terminate its time zone with the counter 10 and the line 17, as has been explained in connection with variant 2.
- the switch circuit 14 sends by the line 18 a receipt order to a timer circuit 19 which switches the switch 2, after a period of at least one second, on its input at 32 Hz by the line 20 and advances the motor 4 by at least one additional step. This advance is recorded by the circuit 21 which by the line 22 acts on the switch circuit 14 and interrupts the supply line 16.
- the minute hand in response to the storage pulse, ends its dial turn, stops for a short time, then progresses at least one step before the watch goes into storage state.
- This last variant allows, as was the case for the previous variant, to store the watch in a state where the hands occupy a preferred position. If this preferred position is 10 hours 10 minutes, the hands will first be brought to 9 hours 9 minutes, a time zone (long pulse) will be commanded during which the pusher will be actuated. The minute hand will go around a dial, stop for a short time at 10 hours 9 minutes, then advance one division to finally indicate 10 hours 10 minutes. The advance of an additional division is a receipt which certifies to the user that the storage has been made.
- the invention does not limit the receipt to a single step advance. Advances comprising several steps can be envisaged and in particular an advance of one full dial revolution.
- the pusher 5 will be actuated again.
- the pulse originating from 5 will reactivate the circuit 14 via line 23, which will have the effect of energizing line 16 and thus supply all the interrupted circuits controlled by said line 16.
- the storage condition device can be supplemented by some of the circuits that the applicant claimed in its patent application FR 79-2 5 528 .
- the arrangement of the circuits is such that it allows the watch to be set automatically after its indicator hands have been used to indicate the minute and the second.
- the oscillator, divider and counter circuits remain permanently energized and that the real time counter, the hand position reference counter and the comparator which compares the content of these two counters are used to advantage, as described in the cited application, the object of the present invention can be provided with an automatic time setting as soon as the push-button has been activated to stop the storage state.
- the circuit includes a memory which gives the preferred position of the hands in storage state, a reference counter for the position of the hands and a comparator which compares the content of the memory with the content of the counter, it will be understood that as soon as sending the storage pulse, the needles will go to position on the preferred storage position. All these position changes can be made in forward or .on the shortest path as is also described in the cited application.
Abstract
Device allowing to put a timepiece in minimum consumption state or storage state.
It includes a manual control (5) which acts on an electronic circuit. When the control is actuated for a short time, the hand is reset to the minute; when pressed for a longer time, the watch crosses a time zone. The storage state occurs when the command is activated while the hands are traveling through the time zone.
The device applies to timepieces which must be stored for a certain time in order to save energy and / or to stop their hands in a uniform position for all the watches presented in a showcase.
Description
The present invention relates to an electronic timepiece comprising a time base, a frequency divider, a stepping motor driving the hands indicating the minutes and hours, an electric switch manually operable to reset the said indicator hands to the time arranged in such a way that in response to a short action on the switch, the minute hand advances by one minute and in response to a long action on the switch, the hand minutes travels at an accelerated speed around a dial without stopping.
- a) obtain a time setting of the minute hand. A succession of short pulses (of the order of a second) on the pusher will have the effect of advancing the motor and hence the minute hand which is directly coupled to it, as many steps as there have been of pulses.
- b) to adjust the phase of the seconds themselves, although the seconds are not displayed, that is to say that when a time signal is received, the minute hand must be located just at the point where the indication should change. A single short pulse (of the order of a second) on the pusher, at the time of the top minute, ie when the seconds of the reference clock go to zero, resets the watch to the exact second. If the watch delays by a few seconds, the phasing described above will also have the effect of adding a minute pulse. On the other hand, if the watch moved forward, the phasing will only reset the frequency dividers.
- c) quickly change the hour hand setting in case the user changes time zone or when there is a change between summer and winter hours, as is the case in many countries. This change is made by keeping the button pressed for a longer time (for example for more than three seconds). The motor will then start to rotate quickly (for example at 32 steps per second). As soon as the hand has started and if the button is released, the minute hand will advance rapidly by 60 steps, which corresponds to an advance of one hour. If the pusher is kept pressed, the minute hand will continue to rotate until the moment of release, from which the hand will end the 60-step section it had started, then resume its normal operation. During this operation, precision is respected.
The object of the present invention is to provide the timepiece described above with an additional function which is that in which it can be stopped in a state of minimum consumption or storage state, it being understood that it is always the same push button that takes care of this new function.
Electronic watches have already been cited in the prior art where a storage state has been provided to reduce the consumption of the timepiece.
Patent DE 27 30 330 describes a watch provided with a function selector, a particular position or condition of the so-called storage logic circuit placed for convenience at the start or at the end of the command sequence for the functions which 'it is possible to perform, creates a signal which activates an erase circuit and a timer. However, this is an arrangement intended for a timepiece comprising a function selector which, for example, makes it possible to obtain the storage position in turn and then the hour / minute or date displays / seconds then finally the conditioning of the watch to correct the time, this correction being necessarily carried out by means of a time corrector. This provision obliges to provide a timer intended to avoid the loss of the hour when, during the selection of the functions, the selector passes from one position to another position via the storage position. As mentioned above, the timepiece according to the present invention does not have a function selector, but only a time corrector which reacts differently on the display depending on whether the corrector is subjected to a short press ( advance minute by minute) or long press (advance by at least one time zone).
Patent application DE 25 13 134 describes a time setting system using a single pusher. A first action on this pusher causes the hands of the watch to run rapidly, a second action stops the walking and a third action restarts the hands in normal operation. In a variant, it is provided that it is a cam, secured for example to the seconds hand, which automatically stops at noon said seconds hand. It is first noted that the second action on the pusher or, alternatively, the action of the cam aims to stop the hands to allow them to restart in good time at the top of the time signal. This is therefore a time setting and not a storage position which is also not envisaged. Then, the cited request does not correspond to the generic definition of the present invention which distinguishes between a short duration action (setting to the minute) and a long duration action (setting in the time zone) on the pusher during which the storage of the watch. In fact, in the cited publication, the second hand is accelerated as soon as the pusher is actuated, regardless of how long this action is carried out.
Patent application DE 26 58 326 proposes an electronic timepiece equipped with two pushers S 1 and S 2 . When the first is activated, the motor turns in one direction and when the second is activated, the motor turns in the other direction. To place the watch in storage state, the two pushers must be pressed simultaneously. We immediately see that what is exposed in the cited publication not only does not correspond to the generic definition of the present invention but also requires the assistance of two switches to manage to store the watch, which is not the case in the invention which will be described.
It will be understood that the storage state can be advantageous for several reasons.
It is another object of the present invention to propose several variants for bringing the timepiece to the storage state.
Les revendications permettent d'atteindre les buts proposés.The claims achieve the proposed goals.

- Figure 1 is a block diagram of the first two alternative embodiments according to the invention.
- Figure 2 is a block diagram of a third alternative embodiment according to the invention.
- FIGS. 1 and 2 both show an identical basic diagram for normal running of the watch, for setting the minute hand to the minute and for setting the time zone, according to the cited prior art.
La même ligne 8 bloque le compteur 10.We collect at the output of the oscillator-
If you want to advance one hour or a time zone, press push-
As mentioned above, the timepiece comprises, in addition to the normal running and correction functions which have just been explained, an additional function which is the subject of the present invention which makes it possible to arrange it in a state of minimum consumption or state of storage and that will be explained now. To achieve this function, it is necessary to use the same pusher-
Figure 1 is a block diagram of the first two alternative embodiments according to the invention, the first variant being that of the diagram without the
The second variant of embodiment according to the invention is also presented by FIG. 1 where we find the
Figure 2 is a block diagram of a third alternative embodiment according to the invention. When the
The invention does not limit the receipt to a single step advance. Advances comprising several steps can be envisaged and in particular an advance of one full dial revolution.
In the three variants envisaged above, if the watch must be restarting, the
We saw above that the control of the time zone is done by a long pressure on the push-
If necessary, the storage condition device can be supplemented by some of the circuits that the applicant claimed in its patent application FR 79-2 5 528 . In this request, the arrangement of the circuits is such that it allows the watch to be set automatically after its indicator hands have been used to indicate the minute and the second. Provided that the oscillator, divider and counter circuits remain permanently energized and that the real time counter, the hand position reference counter and the comparator which compares the content of these two counters are used to advantage, as described in the cited application, the object of the present invention can be provided with an automatic time setting as soon as the push-button has been activated to stop the storage state. Likewise, if the circuit includes a memory which gives the preferred position of the hands in storage state, a reference counter for the position of the hands and a comparator which compares the content of the memory with the content of the counter, it will be understood that as soon as sending the storage pulse, the needles will go to position on the preferred storage position. All these position changes can be made in forward or .on the shortest path as is also described in the cited application.
