Description

The invention relates to a coupling device for power and free drag chain conveyor according to the preamble of claim 1.

A coupling device according to the preamble of claim 1 is known (EP-A1-0020 861 falling under Art. 54 (3) the EPC), which has two coupling jaws mounted on a common axis in mirror image and pivotable manner. Since in the known coupling device the coupling jaws as well as the release and driving head are made of metallic material, effective noise reduction during operation cannot be achieved. Another disadvantage of the known coupling device is that said coupling device disengages in an uncontrolled manner in the event of strong lateral oscillating movements of the trolley.

The invention specified in claim 1 has for its object to provide a coupling device which enables a high degree of noise damping and whose operational safety is increased by the fact that uncontrolled disengagement is avoided when strong, lateral pendulum movements of the trolley occur.

This object is achieved with the features characterizing the invention according to claim 1 and the subclaims.

An embodiment of the subject of the invention is shown in the drawing and explained below:
  • It shows :
    • Figure 1 shows the coupling device in longitudinal section
    • FIG. 2 shows a sectional illustration along the line 11-11 in FIG. 1
    • Figure 3 shows the coupling device in plan view.

With the drag chain, the housing 31 of the coupling device K is connected at both ends via angled links. The housing 31 formed from sheet metal has two double transverse walls 32 and 33 formed by bending flaps of the housing blank, in which an axis 9 carrying the two coupling jaws 21 and 22 is received.

The clutch shoes 21 and 22 are injection molded articles made of a material with good sliding and noise damping properties. At both ends, the coupling jaws have inclined edges 24 running from the bottom to the top and a recess 23 which is open at the bottom in the central region. The inner walls of the two clutch shoes 21 and 22 are provided in the sections between the recess 23 and the inclined edges 24 with parallel longitudinal ribs 39, 39 'which are arranged offset from one another so that they can engage with one another. As an additional measure to reduce noise, small damping bodies 40 are provided in the area of the longitudinal ribs 39, 39 'in the walls of the coupling jaws 21 and 22.

The coupling jaws 21 and 22 are mounted with integrally formed bearing eyes 41 and 42 on the axis 9, which also carries a stop body 43, which consists of a bush 45 fastened on the axis 9 by means of a dowel pin 44 with integrally formed flags 46 and 47. The upward-facing lugs 46 engage in suitable openings in the housing base 31 ′ and the downward-facing lugs 47 protrude between the inner walls of the clutch shoes 21 and 22.

In this way, the stop body 43 prevents the two clutch shoes 21, 22 from pivoting together beyond the middle position to one side or the other, while the lateral pivoting out of each individual clutch shoe 21 or 22 is not hindered by the stop body 43. It is consequently only prevented that the coupling device is displaced laterally under the influence of strong pendulum movements of a towed trolley, the driving head of which is indicated by dash-dotted lines in FIG , 22 formed pocket T could disengage.
