Description

The invention relates to household ironing presses comprising, on the one hand, an ironing table supported by a base and comprising an endless conveyor belt which is mounted on two spaced parallel rollers driven in rotation by a motor unit and which thus comprises an upper strand and a lower strand which are arranged in parallel planes and whose upper strand constitutes the upper face of the ironing table and is supported for this purpose during its sliding by a flat support arranged under this strand upper in the space between the rollers, and, on the other hand, a depressing heating plate which has a flat useful central region and which is carried by a rigid arm pivotally mounted on the base around a horizontal axis between a raised position rest for which said plate is distant from the upper face of the ironing table and a lowered pressing position for which said plate is brought closer to said upper side.

Document FR-A-2 057 991 describes an ironing press of this kind with a conveyor belt. In this press, however, the dimension of the flat central region of the heating plate in the direction perpendicular to the axes of the rollers is substantially equal to the center distance of the rollers, so that, during the pressing operation, this plate cooperates, not only with the flat support of the conveyor belt, but also with the rollers, which causes a braking effect on these rollers, forcing the press to be fitted with a relatively powerful and therefore heavy and bulky motor unit, which is disadvantageous in if you want to make a press for household use.

It is true that document BE-A-636 941 describes a household ironing machine with a conveyor belt which does not have this drawback since the heating plate is then constituted by an iron of usual dimensions, that is to say of very small surface compared to the upper surface of the conveyor belt. For this reason, however, this machine is incapable of operating in the manner of an ironing press, that is to say of allowing, by a single movement of lowering of the plate, the ironing of an appreciable surface. a piece of linen.

In an ironing press according to the present invention, the dimension of the flat central region of the hot plate in the direction perpendicular to the axes of the rollers is slightly less than the space between the axes of these rollers, so that, for the 'pressing operation, the heating plate does not cooperate with the rollers but only cooperates with the flat support of the upper strand of the endless belt.

The characteristics and advantages of the invention will moreover emerge from the description which follows, by way of example, with reference to the appended drawings in which:
  • Figure 1 is a perspective view of an ironing press according to the invention, with the heating plate in the raised position; Figure 2 is a front elevational view of this press, with the heating plate in the lowered position; Figure 3 is a top view of this press, after removal, on the one hand, of a cover covering the pivoting arm and, on the other hand, two water tanks located on either side of the arm and carried by the plate; FIG. 4 is a vertical section along the line IV-IV of FIG. 3.

The press shown in these drawings comprises an ironing table 10 supported by a base 12, and a pressing hot plate 14 connected by means of an articulation 1_5 to a rigid arm 16 which pivots on the base 12 about a horizontal axis 18 between a raised position (FIG. 1), for which the plate 14 is distant from the table 10, and a lowered position (FIG. 2), for which this plate is brought closer to this table. The arm 16 carries at its free end an operating handle 20 and is equipped with a balancing device comprising a spring 22 interposed between a hook 24 located in the middle region of the arm and a fastener 26 carried by the base. The upper face of the arm is covered with a cover 21 (not shown in Figure 3). As can be seen in the drawings, the arm 16 is oriented perpendicular to its pivot axis 18, and the table 10 and the heating plate 14 have a symmetrical arrangement with respect to the vertical plane in which this arm is located. In order to facilitate the ironing of the laundry, the plate 14 is equipped with a steam generator device (not shown in detail in the drawings) supplied by two water tanks 28 arranged on the top of this plate and on both sides. other arm 16.

4) disposé entre les deux rouleaux 32 et 34.According to the invention, the table 10 comprises an endless conveyor belt 30 mounted on two spaced parallel rollers 32 and 34 whose axes 36 and 38 (fig. 2) are arranged perpendicular to the axis 18, and one of which 32 is rotated by a motor 39 followed by a reduction gear 40. The endless belt 30 is made of a flexible material resistant to heat and slides on a flat support 42 (fig. 4) disposed between the two rollers 32 and 34 .

To allow the user to control at will the scrolling of the endless belt 30 in one direction or the other, the geared motor group 39-40 is equipped with means for reversing the direction of rotation, which include a three-way electric inverter 44 (fig. 3) positions whose intermediate position marks the endless belt. To facilitate the operation of these reversing means, the reverser 44 is arranged in the arm 16 and is actuated by a movable lever 46 located in the vicinity of the handle 20.

As best seen in Figures 1 and 3, the opposite edges 48 of the heating plate 14, arranged transversely to the running direction of the endless belt 30, each have a contour having the shape of a V-line whose the tip 50 faces outward. Each of these edges is raised relative to the plane of the central region of the plate and is connected to this plane by a surface. rounded section 52. Thanks to these provisions, it facilitates, for the two directions of drive of the endless belt 30, the introduction and scrolling of the laundry under the plate, and the risk of unwanted folds is reduced.

For the same purpose, and also in order to ensure a fairly wide pressing of the piece of laundry between the plate 14 and the band 30 while limiting the size of the press, it is expected that the size of the plate 14 from one point to the other of the V-shaped edges 48 is practically equal to the space between the axes 36 and 38 of the rollers 32 and 34, and that its dimension in the direction perpendicular to the pivot axis 18 is practically equal to the width of the endless belt 30.

To use this ironing press, the user stands in front of the handle 20, brings the heating plate 14 to the raised position (fig. 1), and introduces the piece of laundry, for example from the left, onto the strip 30. Then he lowers - the handle 20 to bring the plate 14 closer to the strip 30, and actuates the lever 46 so as to drive this strip to the right. As the strip 30 travels, it can guide the piece of laundry with one hand, and with the other to properly dose the pressure of the plate 14. As soon as a false crease begins on the piece of linen, he acts with one finger on the lever 46 to stop the strip and restart it in the other direction if necessary. Once the region of the crease removed from the plate, it again operates the lever 46 to continue ironing in the chosen direction.
