Diese Ausbildung ist besonders für Durchlauferhitzer von Kaffeemaschinen geeignet, bei denen es je nach Konstruktion als vorteilhaft angesehen wird, die Enden des Kanals auf der gleichen Seite zu haben. Als Vorwärmer von Heizöl wäre der bekannte Durchlauferhitzer weniger geeignet. Bei Durchlauferhitzern für die Vorwärmung von Heizöl ist es oft wünschenswert, die Strömung des Heizöls möglichst ohne Richtungsänderung verlaufen zu lassen. Ferner besteht insbesondere die Forderung, das Heizöl innerhalb der Lüftervorlaufzeit eines Ölbrenners von der unbeeinflußten Vorlauftemperatur auf etwa 60° C im Düsenbereich des Brenners anzuwärmen. Die Vorlaufzeit des Lüfters beträgt etwa 15 Sekunden. Ein weiterer Vorteil besteht darin, daß im Betrieb des Durchlauferhitzers der Momentanwert des Volumens der in jeder Kanalbahn befindlichen Ölsäule sehr gering ist. Die jeweils in den Kanalbahnen befindlichen Ölsäulen sind daher massearm, was die Aufheizzeit günstig beeinflußt.
