Description

The invention relates to an ink ribbon device and an ink ribbon cassette, which is to be used in particular in a printer with a print head which is normally arranged to be movable in the line direction parallel to a printing base, but which is fixedly arranged in the printer frame. The ribbon cassette, on the other hand, should be designed such that, as is known, it consists of two parts arranged on both sides of the printing point.

In a known ribbon device -. DE-A1-2821 004 - an endless ribbon is arranged in a functional space of a tape cassette, which is pressed into the cassette by two drive rollers and is pulled out of this cassette again by the train thus produced at the end of the cassette space. The functional space, which contains both the ribbon lying in endless loops and the drive rollers for this ribbon, is provided with two guide arms that guide the ribbon in front of the printing point. The space that is delimited on three sides by the two guide arms and the functional space of the ink ribbon cassette is the space in which the print head is arranged. Depending on the size of the functional space and the distance between the two guide arms from each other, you can either fix the cassette in the printer frame and move the print head - relative to the print bed, or you can also connect the cassette to the print head so that they move together in the line direction will. If the cassette is connected to the printhead, it places a considerable load on the printhead and counteracts rapid tabulation of the printhead in the writing direction, especially since not only the cassette with a fairly extensive ink ribbon but also a corresponding drive motor for the ink ribbon then with the printhead must be connected. If, on the other hand, the cassette and, in particular, its functional space are relatively wide, the cassette can of course also be arranged firmly in the printer frame and the print head can be tabulated relative to it. With regard to the printing width, however, you are then bound to a certain form web width. So you can not use this cassette for a wide variety of printers to print on a wide variety of form web widths.

A similar device is also described in DE-A1-2718688. Here, an ink ribbon cassette is, so to speak, arranged around the printing pad in such a way that the printing pad is located in the free space which is delimited on three sides by the cassette, while the printing unit is located outside this space in front of the ribbon. The arrangement in question has the disadvantage that if one assumes a sufficiently large printing pad as a necessity, an oversized ribbon cassette is produced, which is certainly not particularly desirable.

In a known arrangement - DE-B1-1 074 599 and DE-B2-2 335 856 - an ink ribbon for typewriters is wound on two spools and is delivered in cassette form. Each coil is surrounded by a housing. The two housing parts are connected to each other for shipping. Before the ribbon is inserted, a web must be broken between the two housing parts so that the ribbon can then be pushed onto the vertical ribbon reel holding pins, which act as a sliding guide, up to a stop.

Compared to the known prior art, the invention has set itself the task of designing an ink ribbon cassette in such a way that it is arranged in a fixed arrangement in the printer frame in such a way that it can be used with any form web widths and in particular with any widths of the printing substrate, such that it is adaptable to the maximum stroke of the print head in the line direction.

Based on this task, the invention is characterized in that the two parts of the cassette are connected to one another by means of a releasable coupling, that a sliding guide extends into the printer frame over the entire width of the printing pad, into which the cassette can be inserted, that with the cassette the slide guide corresponding guide parts are provided, which allows the sliding of the one cassette part along the slide guide with respect to the other cassette part from its insertion position into a working position distant from the other cassette part, and that both cassette parts are held in the sliding guide by a locking device in their separate working positions will.

The invention further comprises an ink ribbon cartridge consisting of two separable cartridge parts for use in an ink ribbon device, in which on each cartridge part guide parts for guiding the cartridge along a sliding guide and stops for cooperation with locking devices are provided and which is characterized in that on the one hand the guide parts the two cassette parts are designed so that they can be inserted and moved in the sliding guide extending in the line direction over the entire printing width, and that on the other hand the stops and locking devices are designed such that they lock the two pulled apart cassette parts along the sliding guide in their working positions in the glide allow leadership.

A ribbon cassette designed in this way and its arrangement in the printer frame with the aid of a sliding guide has the advantage that the same cassette can be used for a wide variety of form web widths. It also has the advantage that the cassette can be reduced to a much smaller size for transport than when the cassette is in the working position, so that the shipping of the cassettes is thereby simplified. The cassette, like all cassettes, has the advantage of being particularly easy to handle for the operator, without having to accept the disadvantages that result from the use of tape cassettes that normally have to be connected to the print head.

When the cassette is designed with an endless ribbon, in a further embodiment of the invention the functional space of the cassette can be divided into two cassette parts so that the functional space of one part of the cassette is designed as an endless ribbon for receiving the ribbon in the form of loose loops, while the functional space of the other part of the cassette Re-inking device for the continuous ribbon.

In a modification, the ribbon cassette can be designed to reduce the space requirement so that the functional space of the second cassette part is designed to be considerably narrower than the functional space of the first cassette part and only contains guide elements for guiding and deflecting the continuous ink ribbon, without the re-inking device. In the remaining space between the functional rooms and the printing pad on the one hand and the two guide parts of the cassette on the other hand, there is enough space to accommodate a standing printing unit. With this type of cassette, it would in principle also be possible to connect the cassette to the movable print head.

Further details of the ribbon device and ribbon cassette according to the invention will become apparent from the description of the accompanying drawings. You show in
  • 1A and 1B, the color devices and the ribbon cassette in the inserted, not yet operational state,
  • 2A and 2B, the cassette in the operational state,
  • 3 is a side view of the cassette and the guide means therefor.
  • Fig. 4 shows the cassette drive, and
  • 5 is a modified embodiment of the cassette according to FIGS. 1 and 2.

First of all, it should be pointed out that it was necessary to split FIGS. 1 and 2 into two sheets, which should therefore be considered side by side.

Between two side plates 1 and 2, which together with other parts form the printer frame, a printing pad 3 in the form of a roller or in the form of a pressure bar with a convex surface is arranged. A guide axis 4 is fastened between the boards 1 and 2 and serves as a sliding guide for the print head 5. In the case shown, this print head is a needle print head, in which the needle guide head 6 can be recognized. The printing needles of the print head 5 work together with a form web 7 which is guided around the printing pad 3. The print head 5 can be parallel to the print base 3 in the line direction relative to its guide axis 4. be moved by appropriate drive means, the pressure occurring at the same time.

At the same time, a slide guide 9 for the ink ribbon cassette 10 is fastened between the boards 1 and 2. The slide guide 9 consists of a guide rail 8 which is provided with two guide strips 11 and 12. The guide bar 11 can be seen as a simple, raised edge, while the guide bar 12 is angled twice, as can be seen in particular from the side view according to FIG. 3. The guide bar 11 cooperates with a guide groove 13 on the bottom of the right cassette part 14 by guiding this cassette part. The groove 13 is delimited by two projections 15, 15 'on the bottom of the cassette 10. Furthermore, the right-hand cassette part 14 has a further projection 16 bent at right angles, with which it can slide in the guide bar 12 bent twice at right angles and is guided in the process. The groove 13 and the projection 16 are the guide parts of the cassette 10.

The locking of the right part of the cassette 14 in the right end position according to FIG. 2b serves on the one hand a stop pin 17 which cooperates with a projection 18 on the bottom of the cassette and on the other hand a locking means 19 in the form of a locking spring. The spring 19 is fastened to the guide rail 8 and engages with one end in a recess 60 in the rail 8. As can be seen at 21, it is bent at right angles, so that it serves as a counterstrike for the stop 17.

-teil 24 und 25.From Fig.la and 1b, the cassette 10 can be seen as consisting of two cassette parts 20 and 14, each cassette part having a relatively large functional space 22 and 23, as can be seen in FIGS. 2a and 2b, and one except for Height of the printing pad 3 advanced guide space or part 24 and 25.

To insert the cassette 9 guide parts 26 and 27 are arranged in the vicinity of the left side board 1 on the guide.

When the assembled cassette according to FIG. 1 is inserted, the cassette is aligned with its left and rear boundary surfaces on these two guide elements 26 and 27. In addition, centering pins 66 and 68 are provided in the slide guide and thus cooperate in the cassette bottom with recesses 65 and 67. The left cassette part 20 is provided with a latching surface 28 with which the Cassette interacts with a latch 29. The locking pawl 29 is pivoted against the force of a spring 30 when the cassette is inserted, then snaps back under spring force and clearly defines the left part 20 of the cassette. The projection 16 on the right part of the cassette 14 has been inserted into the guide bar 12 and at the same time the guide bar 11 has been inserted into the guide groove 15 on the bottom of the right part of the cassette 14. If the cassette has been inserted as shown in FIG. 1, the right part of the cassette can be seen 14 to the right, as can be seen in FIG. 2b, until it has reached its right end position shown here and is locked in this right end position.

The functional space 22 of the left cassette part 20 is the storage space for the endless ink ribbon 31 lying in loose loops and contains the drive means for the ink ribbon, consisting of a drive roller 32 and an elastically pressed counter pressure roller 33. The counter pressure roller 33 is mounted on a lever 34 and is held elastically in contact with the drive roller 32 by a spring 35. The ink ribbon 31 enters the guide space 24 of the left cassette part 20 through an opening 36, is guided around a guide roller 37 and then moved by the drive roller 32. The drive roller 32 is driven via its hub 38 and a groove 39 provided therein. The pin 40 of a coupling part 41 engages in the groove 39. The coupling part 41 carries a gear 42, which in turn is in engagement with a gear 43. The gear 43 is driven by a motor 44.

The functional space 23 of the right part of the cassette 14 contains two ink rollers 45 and 46 and two ink transfer rollers 47 and 48. The ink transfer rollers 47 and 48 are mounted on levers 49 and 50 which are under the influence of springs 51. The springs 51 hold the ink transfer rollers 47 and 48 in engagement with the ink re-inking rollers 45 and 46. The ink transfer rollers 47 and 48 also serve as guide and deflection rollers for the ink ribbon 31, which enters the functional space 23 of the right cartridge part 14 through an opening 52, is deflected by the two ink transfer rollers 47 and 48, in order then to leave the guide space 25 of the right cassette part 14 again through an opening 53. A spring 54 ensures that the ink ribbon 31 cannot twist in the outlet slot 53. A guide device 55 provides for the production of the so-called Möbius loop for the endless ink ribbon 31. The arrows indicate the transport direction of the ink ribbon 31. The only drive element for the ink ribbon is thus the drive roller 32, which on the one hand causes the ribbon to be "stuffed" into the storage space 22 and on the other hand the ink ribbon on the way between the exit slot 53 from the right cassette part 14 along the printing pad 3 through the insertion slot 36 and the Guide space 24 of the left part of the cassette causes. When pushed together, the tongues 56 and 57 on the right cassette part 14 engage in corresponding recesses 58 and 59 of the left cassette part 20, so that the ink ribbon is only exposed on the way between the left guide space 24 and the right guide space 25. This is also the space in which the print head could still move when the cassette 10 was plugged together. In other words, the cassette would still be usable if recording media 7 which are narrower than that shown in FIGS. 1 and 2 are used. It can be seen that the print head 5 with the needle guides 6 in the space between the two functional spaces 22 and 23 of the left and right cassette parts 14 and 20 and the printing pad 3 arranged in parallel thereto on the one hand and between the two guide spaces 24 and 25 of the cassette 10 on the other hand emotional. When the two cassette parts 20 and 14 are pulled apart, this freedom of movement is greater than when the cassette remains in the assembled state. Since the length of the sliding guide 8 is arbitrary, the cassette can be used in the same form for any printing width.

It can be seen that here, without the re-dyeing device in the functional space 23, this space is considerably narrower than the functional space 22 of the left half of the cassette 20. This results in a spatially compact design of the entire cassette, but without the re-coloring device. If only a slight reduction in the size of the cassette is sufficient, then only one roll can be used instead of two re-inking rolls.

It is advantageous that the essentially the same cassette can also be accommodated in a much smaller space and can therefore also be used with recording media 7 which have a substantially reduced width. In this case, you can also replace the laterally movable print head with a fixed printing unit, e.g. B. when it comes to printing strips that are only moved perpendicular to the line direction or in the line direction.

To remove the cassette, it is only necessary to press the catch spring 21 while the ribbon drive is running so that the right part of the cassette is released. The drive motor 44 then pulls the right cassette part 14 to the left up to the left cassette part 20 via the roller 32, so that both parts can then be removed again as a unit.
