Abstract

In a multi-core flat cable, the round conductors (2), whose common conductor cross-section is at most 0.25 mm<2>, are arranged in a single plane with a constant distance between one another and are surrounded with a common, extruded insulation (3). The insulation forms a web (4) between in each case two conductors. At least some of the webs are provided, in each case in their centre, with a notch (6) on one or both sides over the complete length of the flat cable. The insulation in each case forms a half-web (5) on both sides of the flat cable. This design of the flat cable ensures that the flat cable can be split with high precision into a plurality of core groups and that, in each split-off core group, the distances of the conductor centres of the individual cores correspond to a predetermined raster, to the extreme limit of the core group. The flat cable, which is provided particularly for wiring purposes in equipments and installations of the electronic industry, is thus particularly suitable for simple plug installation. Description

1. Anwendungsgebiet der Erfindung1. Field of application of the invention

The invention is in the field of multi-core flat cables, such as those used in the devices and systems of the electronics industry for wiring purposes, and deals with the structural design of such a flat cable with regard to simple plug assembly.

2. Stand der Technik2. State of the art

In the case of the flat cables developed for wiring purposes, a large number of round or flat conductors are arranged next to one another on one level and surrounded by a common insulation. This can consist, for example, of two foils welded to one another, between which the conductors are embedded by means of appropriate rollers, or it is by means of an extruder applied (magazine "Electronic Design, No. 9, Spril 1977, page 60 ff., DE-AS 19 42 784). 3. Darstellung der Erfindung3. Presentation of the invention a) Technische Aufgabea) Technical task

The invention has for its object to design a multi-core flat cable, the conductors of which have a uniform conductor cross section of at most 0.25 mm 2 , in such a way that the cable ends can easily be divided into several core groups for the purpose of plug assembly, in such a way that each severed core group, the precision of the cable dimensions, in particular the so-called edge distance, is retained.

b) Lösung der technischen Aufgabeb) Solution of the technical problem

To achieve this object, the invention is based on a multi-core flat cable with round conductors, in which the conductors are arranged at the same distance from one another in a single plane and are surrounded by a common, extruded insulation, and in which the insulation forms a web between two conductors. According to the invention it is provided that the flat cable is provided over its entire length with one or more notches, which are located on one or both sides in at least one of the webs in the middle thereof, and that the insulation on both sides of the flat cable has a half-web forms.

c) Vorteilec) advantages

Figure imgb0005
Figure imgb0006
Such a configuration of the flat cable ensures that the spacing of the conductor centers of the individual cores to the outer boundary of the core group has a predetermined grid in each divided core group correspond; because the outer boundary of the flat cable

secure contact guaranteed. This is ensured by the half-ridges on the sides of the flat cable, on the other hand by the notches in the middle of a ridge. The notches ensure easy and exact separation of two adjacent wires, with the resulting wire groups also having a half web on both side edges.

If the type of subsequent division of a flat cable is already known during the manufacture of the flat cable, the notches need only be provided in certain webs of the flat cable. The assembly personnel then no longer need to count or identify the subgroups during assembly, since the flat cable preferably separates at the notches if the separating forces exerted by hand are only applied approximately in the area of the notches. If, on the other hand, the later division of the flat cable is not known, it is advisable to provide the notches in all webs of the flat cable. In any case, it is advisable to use the notches to weaken the cross-section of a web by 30 to 70%. This is expediently achieved by notching the webs on both sides.

An embodiment of the new flat cable is shown in Figures 1 and 2.

The flat cable 1 contains 20 round conductors 2, the conductor cross section of which is approximately 0.2 mm 2 and which are arranged next to one another with the same spacing in one plane. The round conductors 2 are surrounded by a common, extruded insulation 3, which forms webs 4 between the individual conductors. A half web 5 is provided on each side edge of the flat cable.

The round conductors 2 are multi-wire conductors. The conductor center distance t is, for example, 2.54 mm. The edge distance of the first conductor is t / 2, that of the second conductor 3/2 t etc. The webs 4 between each two conductors are provided in the middle with notches 6 arranged on both sides, which weaken the web cross section by about 50%. The individual wires of the flat cable or individual wire groups can be easily separated from one another at these notches. This ensures that the edge distance of the closest conductor to a separation point always corresponds to the value t / 2.
