Der Pfosten zum Tragen und Verbinden von Trennwandelementen besteht aus Pfostenteilen 2. Die Pfostenteile 2 bestehen aus einem Rohr 3, in dessen Endabschnitten Pfropfen 4 angeordnet sind. Die Pfropfen 4 sind axial durchbohrt. Die axiale Bohrung 5 eines Pfropfens 4 trägt ein Steckelement 6. Im Falle eines entsprechenden endständigen Pfostenteils 2 ist das freie Ende des Steckelementes 6 als Abdeckplatte 7 für das Pfostenende ausgebildet und im anderen Falle federnd, z. B. mit kugelförmigem und geschlitztem Ende 8 für eine formschlüssige Verbindung mit dem benachbarten Pfostenteil. Zum Befestigen der Trennwandelemente, z.B. mittels entsprechender Schienen (nicht dargestellt), sind die Pfropfen mit radial angeordneten Gewindelöchern 9 versehen. Damit die Gewindelöcher 9 im montierten Zustand des Pfostens zugänglich sind, weisen die Rohre entsprechende Bohrungen 10 auf. Es kann zweckmässig sein, die Innenwand des Rohres 3 mit einer in axialer Richtung verlaufenden Nut 11 und die Pfropfen 4 mit einer in gleicher Richtung verlaufenden Feder 12 zu versehen. Ausserdem kann es von Vorteil sein, die Aussenwand der Pfropfen mit radialen Rippen 13 zu versehen, die auch konisch ausgebildet sein können.
