Description

The invention relates to a method for connecting container parts formed from plastic film by means of connecting parts which are integrally formed in the edge region, which can be plugged together and which act like a push button, and to containers which serve to carry out the method or are connected according to the method.

From US-A-3 786 982 a container consisting of two halves has become known, which is molded from thermoplastic material and the two ha ! joints are connected by a film hinge. In the outer edge areas, a push-button-like connection is formed, which consists of a pin engaging in a recess, which are dimensioned such that they stick together by friction after being plugged together. Such a connection provides sufficient holding force only in the case of containers made of relatively thick-walled material.

Aus diesem Grunde sind diese Behälter auch nur für relativ leichte Gegenstände, wie Eier, zu verwenden.US-A-3 356 277, 3 421 682, 3 661 317 and 3655110 have disclosed transport containers for eggs, the container parts of which are deep-drawn from a relatively thin plastic film and are also connected to one another by means of push-button-type connections. Ribs are provided on the connecting parts to increase the holding force. With such containers, however, it is difficult to generate a sufficient holding force for the push-button connections, because the thin material does not allow sufficient holding forces if the design is such that the push-button-like connections can also be easily inserted into one another. For this reason, these containers can only be used for relatively light objects such as eggs.

However, if such containers as transparent packaging for other foods, e.g. B. juice packs or other heavy objects are used, it is not guaranteed that the connecting parts connect the two container halves so tightly that an unintentional opening of the container, for example when parking, can be excluded. For this reason, it has already been proposed to additionally weld or glue the two container parts together, but this makes opening the container more difficult. In addition, the irregular edges can cause injuries after opening.

From US-A-3 800 998 a container of the type described above has become known, which has grip recesses in its edge area, on which it can be carried. In the area of one container half, a tab is formed, which engages in a slot on the other container half in order to connect the two container halves to one another. This tab can also contain a handle recess itself, so that the user holds the two halves together when carrying them.

In this embodiment, however, the underside of the wearer's hand in particular is unprotected and is easily injured on the sharp, protruding edges on the underside of the handle recess.

The invention has for its object to provide a method for connecting container parts, which makes it possible to provide this connection despite small forces when plugging into each other with great holding force, but to keep the connection detachable at any time and with little effort and to reduce the risk of injury.

This object is achieved in that the connecting parts are permanently deformed after being inserted into one another by axial pressure in the sense of widening the inner connecting part. The two cooperating connecting parts do not therefore need to exert any significant holding forces after they have been inserted into one another and can therefore be designed either without any force or with only a weaker push-button effect. By applying the axial pressure to the bottoms of the two nested connecting parts, a deformation occurs which in any case widens the inner, but usually also the outer connecting part and thus achieves a holding force or increases it considerably. The bottoms or head parts of the preferably cup-like connecting parts are pressed more or less flat and the deformation is permanent, i. H. the floors remain in their deformed state as long as the connection exists. After loosening the connection, which is possible because of the elastic properties of the plastic, the deformation can be reset automatically or by hand, so that the connection can be restored when the container is closed again.

Container parts are preferably used to carry out the method, the inner connecting parts of which, in order to be deformable in the region of their insertion ends, have expansion sections such as beads, waves or differences in wall thickness. As a result, the inner connecting parts can expand well outwards when deformed.

These expansion sections are preferably inwardly directed beads which run in the axial plane of the inner connecting parts.

The mutually associated walls of the connecting parts are preferably designed to be rotationally symmetrical prior to the compression and advantageously, before the compression, starting from the edge of the container part, initially cylindrical and then formed with a tapered, arched, conical or frustoconical bottom forms. This shape ensures a strong and uniform expansion of the inner connecting parts and also enables the outer connecting parts to expand accordingly in order to produce an almost form-fitting connection.

The bottoms of the connecting parts which are connected by the method are preferably pressed in on the part of the plastic film from which they protrude. They are usually slightly curved inwards and are approximately parallel to each other, so that they keep themselves in the spread position.

Preferably, in the case of a container with two container parts which are connected to one another in an articulated manner and have handle cutouts in their edge regions opposite the articulated connections, the one container part can have a flap which is formed by the formation of the handle cutout and is hinged to the lower edge of the handle cutout and extends over the lower edge of the Handle cutout of the other container part is bent to protect the hand. When the container is connected to one another, this prevents the mostly sharp edges of the plastic film in the region of the handle cutout from damaging the particularly sensitive upper side of the hand. The handle cutout can therefore also be made smaller, which saves material in the edge area.

Protection is only claimed for the container parts according to claims 2 to 6 insofar as they are to serve to carry out the method according to claim 1 or are connected according to this.

An embodiment of a container to be connected or connected according to the method is shown in the drawing and is used below to explain the invention. The drawings each show schematically:
  • 1 is a side view of a container connected by the method,
  • 2 shows the container shown in FIG. 1 before the connection,
  • 3 shows an inner and an outer connecting part assigned to it before their connection,
  • Fig. 4 shows the connecting parts shown in Fig. 3 after their connection and
  • Fig. 5 shows a section of the upper, a handle cutout container edge.

Fig. 1 und 2). In the embodiment shown, the container 1 according to the invention consists of two essentially identical container parts 2, 3 which are articulated to one another and which, when folded, result in a box-like, essentially cuboid container (cf. FIGS. 1 and 2). The two one-piece container parts 2, 3 were manufactured from a flat, thin and relatively rigid plastic film using the deep-drawing process. The two container parts 2, 3 each represent a shell per se, the side walls of which run perpendicular to one another and to the base of the shell, these side walls — not shown in the drawing — can have stiffening ribs or a profiling serving to stiffen them. One side wall 4 of one container part 2 is articulated to a side wall 5 of the other container part 3. The remaining side walls of the two container parts each have edges 6 to 11 which are bent outward at right angles and which, when the two container parts 2, 3 are folded against one another, lie flat against one another. The container part edges 7, 10 opposite the articulated connection of the two container parts 2, 3 are each made wider than that of the articulated connection of adjacent edges 6, 8 or 9, 11 and each have a plurality of, in the embodiment shown, four pairs of connecting parts 12 , 13, which were formed during the manufacture of the container parts or thereafter from them in the deep drawing process. The walls of these connecting parts are essentially rotationally symmetrical in the embodiment shown, starting from the container part edge 7 or 10 they are initially cylindrical and then frustoconical. The connecting parts 12 of the one container part 3 are dimensioned such that they can be pressed into the connecting parts 13 of the other container part 2. In addition to the aforementioned connecting parts 12, 13, the edges 7, 10 opposite the articulated connection of the container parts 2, 3 each also have a handle cutout 14, 15. Lugs 16, 17 protrude into the handle cutout 15 of the edge 1J, which can be gripped by a tab 20 projecting from below into the handle cutout 14 of the edge 7 when the two container parts 2, 3 are folded against one another.

The inner connecting parts 12 (see FIGS. 3 and 4) have in their frustoconical head region inwardly directed beads 18 which form a continuation of beads 19 also provided in their cylindrical shell and also directed inwards.

After one and / or the other of the two container parts is filled with goods to be transported, the two container parts are to be folded against one another, taking care that the inner connecting parts 12, which are provided in the illustrated embodiment only on one container part, but also can be provided on both container parts, are aligned with the outer connecting parts of the other container part. The mutually associated connecting parts can then be pushed into one another without great effort and - with slight additional axial pressure on the frustoconical head regions 21 in the exemplary embodiment - locked against one another, the inner connecting parts in each case being deformed in the region of the transition between the circular cylindrical jacket and the head region in the sense of widening. This expansion is facilitated by the aforementioned beads 18 and 19. The Elongation deformations formed by the beads can also be formed in a different way, for example by a wave-like shape of the jacket or by generating differences in wall thickness in the jacket.

The truncated cone shape of the head part 21 is also particularly advantageous because, as can be seen from FIG. 4, an internally stable position forms when pressed in, but this causes an expansion in the edge region of the cylindrical part near the head. This will u. a. achieved in that the transitions between the conical part and the upper flat part prevent a complete snapping of the head part. The continuation of the beads in the region of the head part and in particular in the region of the frustoconical part also contributes to an expansion of the jacket part in which the upper base area close to the head part is larger than the base surface with which the connecting part is integrally formed on the edge .

It has proven to be particularly advantageous to shape the inner connecting parts 12 positively (with a stamp) and the outer connecting parts 13 negatively (into a negative shape). As a result, the wall thickness of the inner connecting part 12 in the cover area becomes thicker than in the outer connecting part 13, so that the inner connecting part 12 has a particularly strong expansion force in the upper edge area. The thin design of the outer connecting parts 13 has the consequence that they can be deformed by pressing in without lateral beads.

In the connection according to the invention, the expansion of the inner connecting part 12 is mainly essential, while the lid area of the outer connecting part 13 must also be pressed in so that the pressing in of the inner connecting part 12 is possible at all.
