Abstract
La presente invención se refiere a un proceso para el control instantáneo de la precipitación de níquel y cobalto presentes en un licor de lixiviación por medio del ajuste del valor de pH. Dicho licor de lixiviación se obtiene mediante lixiviación ácida presurizada de menas lateríticas y adicionalmente contiene aluminio, hierro férrico y ferroso y cromo, entre otros. El proceso comprende los siguientes pasos: precipitación de aluminio, hierro férrico y ferroso, cromo, etc., por medio del incremento del valor de pH mediante la adición de un reactivo adecuado tal como cal y/o piedra caliza, seguida de la precipitación de níquel y cobalto por medio del incremento adicional del valor de pH del licor, separando finalmente el precipitado de la solución de bajo contenido de níquel y cobalto. El precipitado de níquel y cobalto puede utilizarse para refinamiento adicional. Para mantener constantes las condiciones del proceso, los pasos de incremento del valor de pH se controlan simultáneamente.
