Abstract

Further processing, after unloading from the sterilizer, includes the processes of separation, pressing or recovery of grain.An apparatus is also provided to sterilize the fruit clusters of the oil palm, the apparatus could comprise a container with its height greater than its diameter. The container could comprise: at least one entrance opening for loading fruit clusters; at least one exit opening to unload the fruit clusters; at least one ventilation valve for the steam and water outlet of the container; at least two steam inlet valves for steam entering the container; at least one exhaust valve for the condensate outlet of the container; at least one water valve for controlling the entry of water into the container; and at least one air vent valve to allow air ventilation from the container. Preferably, a systematic displacement of air, water and condensate, using mechanical means and pressurized steam into the apparatus, sterilizes the fruit. The mechanical means could be a vacuum pump or at least two steam inlet valves operating in sequence. It is preferable that the container is cylindrical or tapered inverted. Advantageously, the tapered inverted container allows the fruit to pass into the container and the pulp will not tend to form bridges due to the shape. Advantageously, the apparatus could also include a perforated inclined plate that acts as a sieve. It could be advantageous for the apparatus to also include an arc shredder. The apparatus, preferably, could also include a pushing mechanism for the fruit.
