Abstract

In general, the proposed methods include a number of known, but previously not combined technologies. Modified flue gas from steam generators, commonly used in SAGD (steam assisted gravity drainage) production, is injected into the formation to enhance the production of, among others, liquids, natural gas, bitumen, and their subsequent treatment. Flue gas injection is a convenient way to utilize it, and also serves the purpose of re-pressurizing a reservoir that would otherwise be depressurized as natural gas depletes. Accordingly, this technology brings economic and environmental benefits.
