Abstract
Dipeptides are prepared by reacting N-protected alpha -amino carboxylic esters as carboxyl component with an alpha -amino carboxylic acid with underivatised alpha -amino and carboxyl group as amino component in the presence of a cysteine protease. The reaction is carried out at a pH of at least 7 and at a temperature in the range between room temperature and 60 DEG C.
