Abstract

A method for producing insulated window units with glass panes with a mutual spacing involves the introduction of a gas mixture into the interspace, which consists of a selection of gases with properties such as a high level of absorption of electromagnetic radiation in the wavelength range 2-20 μ without any appreciable effect on visible light. The selection is made in such a manner that the gases complement one another with regard to the spread of their absorption bands in order, by means of these, to cover a wavelength range to the greatest possible extent, and where the radiation intensity and therefore the energy transport is greatest. <IMAGE>
