Abstract

An endless screw press for compressing and dewatering more or less moist, cellulose-containing and/or fibre- containing materials in the form of pieces, such as waste paper, wood, grass, straw and other harvest products, cellulose, peat, bark and similar materials, comprises a delivery housing 2 with an entry part 3 for the material which is to be compressed, and at least one first pressing cone 13 for powerfully compressing material, a discharge opening 26 for the compressed and dewatered product, a rotatable endless screw or worm 11, which runs from an entry part 3 and at least into the first pressing cone 13, and also drive members 8, 9 for rotating the endless screw 11. Due to the fact that the core 27 of the endless screw 11 and/or its screw thread 28 is/are eccentric in relation to the rotational axis 30 of the endless screw 11, or in relation to the median screw line of the core, at least in some of the screw turns of the endless screw in a zone (V) in the first pressing cone, and due to the fact that the shell or wall of this pressing cone 13 is impenetratable in this zone (V), a worm press is obtained by which press material having a moisture content of as much as 60% can be dewatered and briquetted in order to produce hard, well-cohering briquettes having a high dry matter content. <IMAGE>
