Abstract

The invention relates to a polishing disk having flexible sanding blades designed for edge polishing and profile polishing of profiled furniture elements, frame profiles and similar wooden fabrications, in which, under the rotation of the disk, the radially aligned sanding blades 2 of the polishing disk brush over the fabrication at a tangent. The sanding pressure necessary for machining is produced under the effect of the centrifugal force and the inherent rigidity of the blades. Support brushes 3 fitted together with the sanding blades 2 may also have the object of increasing the sanding pressure. The novelty of the invention resides in the fact that the sanding blades are fixed to a hub, which largely takes the form of a circular disk 1 provided with a number of radial bores 4. A fan of sanding blades 2, which all face with the working side (the sanding side 2a) forwards in the direction of rotation 5 of the disk, is inserted in each of the said bores. A brush tuft 4, which serves partly to support the blades and partly to fill the bore 4 together with the blades, is also fixed behind the sanding blades. The polishing disk may advantageously form part of a modular system comprising a number of polishing disks having different diameters, designed for use in sets with two or more polishing disks clamped side by side with one another on the same shaft 6.
