Abstract

A drain for wash basins, bidets, kitchen sinks, shower trays, baths and similar vessels 1 has a drain pipe 2, which can be tightly inserted into the drain opening 1b of the vessel 1 and connected to the siphon trap 11, and a valve body 7 fitted in the drain pipe 2. The valve body 7 can be operated by means of a rod system or the like. The valve seat 6a belonging to the valve body 7 and situated in the drain pipe 2 divides a riser 8a, which is connected to the drain pipe 2 above the valve seat 6a, from an overflow pipe 8b, which is connected to the drain pipe below the valve seat 6a. The riser 8a and the overflow pipe 8b are fitted at the side of the actual vessel 1 and are connected to one another at a level, which lies above the highest filling level of the vessel 1. The highest filling level of the vessel 1 is defined by a wall 8c, which separates the two pipes 8a and 8b from one another.
