Description
The invention relates to a mobile woodworking machine (such as the woodworking machine "Edgebander EBM KDP111SLK" of EBM Maschinenbau GmbH, Beendorfer Strasse 31, 32609 Ηϋllhorst, as disclosed on 01.01.1996) according to the preamble of claim 1.
Such woodworking machines are mainly used in craft businesses, especially carpentry businesses, which are involved in the individual production of furniture. Devices for edge gluing and/or so-called edge band milling tools are used for example as a machining tool, wherein the latter is used to eliminate lateral projections of a glued edge band.
In this case, the applied edge band serves to protect the core of the furniture panel, which usually consists of a chipboard, as well as for decorative purposes to provide the furniture with an overall impression that is pleasing to the viewer, wherein the topside and underside of the furniture panel are also coated with a decor.
Scraper blades or the like are also used as machining tools to remove the two-sided projections of the edge band, in addition to the aforementioned edge band milling tools.
In any case, the surface structure of this area is changed as a result of this removal by cutting, such that this results in an edge which is unattractive in terms of design and which stands out from the unprocessed so-called broadside of the edge band, which edge significantly reduces the visual appeal of the furniture panel.
Especially in the construction of craft furniture, special quality requirements are placed on the products to be produced, especially since they are often custom-made, so that the mentioned quality deficiency due to the edge processing has special relevance.
To remedy this situation, usually a manual processing of the edge area is carried out by applying a polishing agent by using a hand-held polishing tool, by means of which a surface similar to the edge band is produced by pressure.
Of course, this is possible only with a considerable amount of time, which precludes a cost-minimizing rational production which is always desirable in the craft sector. EP 1 125 685 A2 discloses a method for processing the edge region of an edge band in order to achieve an optically perfect smoothing and thus a harmonious transition from the surface element to the edge band. This processing is done by means of brushes that are part of a stationary edge banding machine.
Also, EP 1 693 152 A1 shows and describes a stationary edge banding machine with a polishing tool, to which a polishing agent is applied.
It is the object of the invention to further develop a mobile woodworking machine of the generic type so that the furniture panels to be processed are easier and cheaper to produce, while simultaneously optimizing the quality.
This object is achieved by a mobile woodworking machine having the features of claim 1.
The invention now makes it possible to carry out the machining of the edge region of a machined edge band, which is materially fastened to the furniture panel, in a much simpler, faster and thus less expensive manner.
In this case, the quality of the processed area over the entire processing path is the same, which is usually not the case compared to manual processing with a hand-held polishing tool. In that regard, a related improvement is also to be achieved by the invention, wherein a post-processing that was previously often required is now no longer required.
It should be noted that the machined edge region of the edge band corresponds with respect to its surface structure, i.e. its roughness, which determines the optical overall impression, to how it is predetermined by the unprocessed visible side of the edge band.
The edge bands used, which are processed according to the invention, consist of acrylic glass (PMMA), a thermoplastic material, e.g. polyethylene terephthalate (PET), or polycarbonate.
The polishing agent, which is applied to the polishing disc, is present as a dimensionally stable polishing compound, which preferably consists of hard wax, but may well consist of another polishing material. It is essential that the processed edge areas produce a high-gloss surface as a result, corresponding to the remaining visible side of the edge band.
Conveniently, the polishing agent is applied manually to the polishing disc, wherein the hard wax which is present in block form for example is embedded by simply pressing against the polishing disc therein. It is also conceivable, however, to apply the polishing agent by means of an application device attached to the frame, which presses the polishing agent to the polishing disc permanently or at intervals. A so-called lamellar wheel is preferably used as a polishing disc, which has circumferentially radially aligned, adjacent lamellae made of a textile or similar material.
This lamellar wheel, which is downstream in the direction of passage of the furniture panel, is at least one so-called buffing disc which rotates in the opposite direction to the lamellar wheel, thus further improving the polishing effect, i.e. it is optimized.
In the event that several buffing discs are provided, then they rotate in the same direction, but in any case in opposite direction to the lamellar wheel.
Incidentally, both the lamellar wheel as well as the buffing discs can each be driven by an electric motor, which is arranged according to a preferred further development of the invention obliquely to the roller conveyor, preferably at an angle of about 45°. In this case, the motors or the roller conveyor can be positioned obliquely to the vertical.
According to a further aspect of the invention, it is provided to arrange the polishing disc to be tiltably movable and to provide a fixing mechanism with which the polishing disc is locked in the appropriately set tilting position. To change the tilt position, a preferably manually operated adjusting screw is provided.
The oblique arrangement of the lamellar wheel as well as the buffing discs allows polishing transition areas of the edge bands which are formed as radii, as well as those which are shaped in the sense of a chamfer, wherein the tiltable arrangement of at least the polishing disc allows a setting at different edge thicknesses of the edge band.
By means of said adjusting screw the effective pressure of the polishing disc on the radius or chamfer can be adjusted. In principle, the subsequent buffing discs need not be positioned in a tiltably movable manner.
For accurate positioning, especially to be adjustable to different thicknesses of the furniture panels, the motors and thus the polishing discs are adjustable in three axes, i.e. in the X, Y and Z direction.
To facilitate work as a stop on the one hand and to ensure uniform processing of the edge region of the edge strip on the other hand, a guide strip is provided which extends in the direction of passage of the furniture panel which is manually movable on the roller conveyor, wherein the guide strip is arranged in the region of the polishing disc, thus partially overlapping said disc, and is adjustable in height, relative to the roller conveyor.
Further advantageous embodiments of the invention are characterized in the subclaims.
An embodiment of the invention will be described below with reference to the accompanying drawing.
The only drawing shows a mobile woodworking machine according to the invention in a perspective view.
In the figure, a mobile woodworking machine according to the invention is shown, for processing the edge region of a furniture panel made of wood or a wood material.
This furniture panel is provided on at least one of the peripheral edges with an edge band, which is held in a materially bonded manner, e.g. by sizing or gluing on the core of the furniture panel, usually a chipboard. After application of the edge band, the edge band projects on both sides over the broad sides of the furniture panel. This excess portion is removed by means of a cutting tool.
In order to smooth the resulting rough surface of the removed edge of the edge band and thus to produce the same visual impression as in the broad side of the edge band, the furniture panel is guided with the machined edge of the edge strip along a polishing disc 4, 5 of the woodworking machine.
The woodworking machine has a frame 1, which carries a table 8 on the head side, on which a roller conveyor 2 is held and which has a plurality of transport rollers 3, which are rotatable in a direction of passage A of the furniture panel. A lamellar wheel 4 is provided laterally of the roller conveyor 2 as a polishing disc which receives a polishing agent, preferably a hard wax, which is manually applied by pressing a hard wax block 10 on the lamellar wheel 4.
For this purpose, a holding device 9 is attached directly or indirectly to the frame 1 before front lamellar wheel 4 in relation to the direction of passage A, in which the hard wax block 10 is slidably held in the direction of the lamellar wheel 4. In the case of an automatic polishing agent application, an application device can be arranged at the same location, with which the polishing agent is preferably pressed at intervals onto the lamellar wheel 4.
In the direction of passage A of the furniture panel, downstream of the lamellar wheel 4, two so-called buffing discs 5 are positioned, which counter-rotate in relation to the lamellar wheel 4 and which, like the lamellar wheel 4, protrude slightly with respect to the topside of the roller conveyor 2.
The lamellar wheel 4 and the buffing discs 5 are each assigned a strip 11 which has a plane bearing surface and are each arranged between two transport rollers 3, wherein the strips 11 are slightly lowered relative to the transport rollers 3. As a result, an obstruction-free passage of the furniture panel is guaranteed.
The strips 11 serve as a support for the processing of the corner region of the furniture panel, which requires a pressing transversely to the direction of passage A.
Both the lamellar wheel 4 and the buffing discs 5 are each driven by a separate motor 6, the drive shafts of which are arranged obliquely, preferably at an angle of 45° to the roller conveyor 2. In this case, the motors 6 are adjustable in the X, Y and Z direction.
As well as the motors 6, a guide strip 7 is fixed to the table 8, against which the furniture plate rests when pushed along the roller conveyor 2 and covers the polishing discs partially. In order to ensure a secure contact of the furniture panels with different thicknesses, the guide strip 7 is held vertically adjustable.
Apart from that, the woodworking machine is designed so that it is readily movable, for example by means of a lifting device.
