Description

DESCRIPTION TECHNICAL FIELD
The invention relates to an apparatus, by means of which folding boxes can be transferred to a transporting apparatus. Generally, the folding boxes present in a storage magazine as flat blanks are first removed from the magazine by means of such an apparatus, subsequently opened and finally transferred by the apparatus to a transporting apparatus. The transporting apparatus then transfers the open folding boxes to a filling station, in which the folding boxes are filled with one or with a plurality of products and closed.
PRIOR ART
Apparatuses for transferring a folding box to a transporting apparatus are for example known from DE 10 2005 017 962 A1 or DE 10 2007 023 964 Al. Apparatuses of this type generally have one or more arms, on which retaining apparatuses for the folding boxes are attached. The retaining apparatuses can in this case be designed as suction apparatuses in particular. The flat folding-box blanks can be transferred from a storage magazine and transported by means of the retaining apparatuses. Depending on the size and format of the folding-box blank, a suction device may have a single or a plurality of suction cap(s).
The arms of the apparatus are driven continuously by means of a motive drive, so that a uniform rotational movement is executed. After the removal of a folding-box blank, the folding box is folded by means of further apparatuses, which are placed around the transfer apparatus. The opening can in the simplest case take place by means of a stop element; in the case of folding boxes which are difficult to open, counterpart suction cups may be used for this purpose for example. The open folding boxes can subsequently be processed further in that, for example, a spreading of the side, gluing or tuck-in flaps takes place. The folding box is subsequently transferred to a transporting apparatus. This takes place in the simplest case by allowing the folding box to drop, as a result of which the folding box falls into a compartment of the transporting apparatus and is caught there. Subsequently, a new folding-box blank can be removed. The removal of the folding-box blank, the opening of the folding box and the transfer of the folding box to the transporting apparatus takes place in this case during a single rotation of the respective arm.
Owing to the circular movement of the first arm, only a very short time span is available for the transfer of the open folding box to the transporting apparatus. Also, a targeted transfer to the transporting apparatus, in which the open folding box is inserted into the corresponding compartment of the transporting apparatus synchronously and does not merely fall into the same, requires an exact timing and very precise alignment of the two apparatuses with respect to one another. This necessitates a complex design and often also additional costs. WO 2005/019074 shows a generic transfer apparatus which has a rotatably mounted first arm, which is mounted on a substructure such that it can rotate by means of an axis. A second arm is mounted in a movable manner on this first arm by means of a bolt. The second arm is mounted by means of a guide element on a rail system, which has at least one straight portion.
DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
On the basis of this previously known prior art, the invention is based on the object of specifying an improved apparatus for transferring a folding box to a transporting apparatus, which can be realized in an economically beneficial manner and enables a defined transfer of the folding box to the transporting apparatus.
The apparatus is given by means of the features of the Main Claim 1. Sensible developments of the invention are the subject matter of further claims following the main claim. A cartoning machine according to the invention, which has a corresponding transfer apparatus, is given by means of the features of the coordinate Claim 9.
The apparatus according to the invention for transferring a folding box to a transporting apparatus has at least one arm, which is mounted such that it can be displaced in a closed-loop rail system. This rail system is not designed to be circular, rather at least one portion of the rail system is designed as a straight line.
Preferably, the at least one straight portion of the rail system can constitute the tangent to the curved portion adjoining said straight portion. This allows a flowing transition within the rail system, so that a uniform rotation of arms mounted in the rail system is enabled.
In a particularly advantageous embodiment, at least two portions of the rail system are designed in the form of a straight line, wherein these two straight portions are located opposite one another. In the case of a single straight portion within the rail system, the rail system must generally be designed to be considerably larger than in the case of the circular rail systems from the prior art. By contrast, the space requirement of the rail system in the case of two straight portions which are located opposite one another is approximately the same or even somewhat less than in the case of the circular rail systems from the prior art. Furthermore, on the side of the rail system located opposite the transfer region, there is in this manner a second region, inside which a processing of the folding box is possible during a linear movement. This simplifies the processing of the box, particularly in the case of those folding boxes which have to be opened in a more complex or elaborate manner.
In the case of such a rail system having at least two straight portions, the two straight portions located opposite one another can in particular run parallel to one another. As a result, the rail system is somewhat flatter than in the known circular rail systems, so that a particularly compact structure is enabled.
One curved portion can be provided between two straight portions in each case, wherein the curved portion can preferably have the form of a circle segment with constant radius. The straight portion can in this case constitute the tangent to the circle segment, so that a particularly fluid transition is possible.
In a particularly advantageous embodiment, the rail system can have a first straight portion which is adjoined by a first curved portion. Said first curved portion is adjoined by a second straight portion, which in turn is adjoined by a second curved portion. Said second curved portion then leads into the first straight portion, as a result of which a closed rail system is formed. In this case, the two curved portions can approximately have the shape of a semicircle with constant radius in each case. In this manner, the two straight portions can be designed to be as long as possible, wherein as before, a compact design of the rail system is possible. Furthermore, the previous circular path remains as before for processing the folding box and removing the folding box from a storage magazine, so that no re-alignment of the corresponding processing apparatuses and the storage magazine has to take place in a corresponding cartoning machine.
The transfer apparatus has at least one rotatably mounted first arm. A second arm is mounted in a movable manner on said first arm, wherein the second arm can be mounted such that it can be displaced in the rail system. In order to increase the effectiveness of the apparatus, a plurality of first arms may be present, on which one second arm is mounted in a movable manner in each case. In particular, four or six first arms may be present in an apparatus according to the invention.
According to the invention, the second arm is fastened on the first arm via a lever element. This lever element means that the second arm is virtually pulled behind the first arm, so that the first arm is displaced particularly smoothly in the rail system. At the same time, the first arm can carry out a particularly uniform rotation, as said first arm does not have to be mounted in the rail system directly. A retaining device for retaining the folding boxes can preferably be arranged on the arm mounted in the rail system. The retaining device can in particular be designed as a suction device in this case. Depending on the size and the weight of the folding boxes to be transported, the retaining device can have a single retaining element - for example a suction element or gripping element - or a plurality of retaining elements, the arrangement of which can be dependent on the dimensions of the respective folding box.
In a preferred embodiment, the retaining device can be mounted in a rotatable manner on this arm. As a result, it is possible to rotate the retaining device outwards, in order for example to be able to remove the folding box from the storage magazine. Subsequently, the retaining device can be rotated inwards again, in order to be able to pass the individual processing stations along the transfer apparatus.
In a further advantageous embodiment, the arm mounted in the rail system can have a separate drive, which effects the movement of the arms inside the rail system. This drive can in particular be a linear drive.
The transfer apparatus according to the invention can in particular be used in a cartoning machine for packaging a product into a folding box. In addition to the transfer apparatus according to the invention, such a cartoning machine has a storage magazine for the flat folding-box blanks and a transporting apparatus, to which the folded folding boxes are transferred by the transfer apparatus. At least one straight portion of the rail system of the transfer apparatus runs approximately parallel to the starting region of the transporting apparatus. This starting region of the transporting apparatus is in this case the region into which the folded folding box is transferred.
Further advantages and features of the invention are to be drawn from the features additionally specified in the claims and the following exemplary embodiment.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWING
The invention is described and explained in more detail hereinafter on the basis of the exemplary embodiment illustrated in the drawing. In the figures:
Fig. 1 shows a view of the apparatus according to the invention for transferring a folding box to a transporting apparatus with four arms in total.
WAYS OF REALIZING THE INVENTION
The transfer apparatus 10 illustrated in Fig. 1 has a cross-shaped arm system 12, which is rotatable about a central axis 14 extending perpendicularly to the drawing plane and is rotated in the anti-clockwise direction by a motive drive, which is not in illustrated here, during operation.
The cross-shaped arm system 12 has four first arms 20 in total in the case of the present example. A lever element 22 is rotatably mounted at the outer end region of each arm. The other end of the lever element 22 is likewise rotatably mounted on a second arm 24. An articulated element 26 is pivotably mounted on the second arm 24, so that a retaining device, which is not illustrated in the drawing, pivots outwards and can subsequently be "pulled in" again.
During a rotation of the arm system 12 in the anti-clockwise direction, the individual arms 20 execute a uniform or cyclical rotational movement on a circumferential circular path. By means of the arms 20, the individual lever elements 22 are likewise moved on a circular path by way of the ends thereof, which are moved on the arms 20. The second arms 24 are also moved by the lever elements 22.
The arms 24 are mounted in a circumferential rail system 40 using a guide element which is not illustrated in any more detail in the drawing. This rail system 40 does not have a circumferential circular path, rather the rail system 40 has two straight portions 42, 44 and two curved portions 46, 48. The two straight portions 42, 44 run parallel to one another. They are connected to one another by means of the two curved portions 46, 48. The two curved portions 46, 48 approximately have the shape of a semicircle with constant radius in each case. The straight portions 42, 44 in each case constitute the tangents of the respectively adjacent curved section 46, 48, so that a soft and fluid transition results within the rail system 40, which leads to a continuous movement of the transfer apparatus 10.
In the present example, an element 50 is rotatably mounted on the articulated element 26, which carries the retaining device for transporting the folding boxes. The element 50 is coupled to the second arm 24 by means of a drive element in such a manner that during the rotation of the transfer apparatus 10, the element 50 is always in the same rotational position in relation to the second arm 24, that is to say that the angle between the longitudinal axis of the element 50 and the longitudinal axis of the second arm 24 remains the same.
The articulated element 26 furthermore has an individual drive by means of a gear mechanism 60. By means of this individual drive, the articulated element 26 can be rotated together with the element 50, so that the flat folding-box blanks can be removed from the storage magazine. Furthermore, a constant speed can be generated by this rotation during the folding-box transport along the portions 44, 46 and 42, in order to enable a simple and reproducible processing and opening of the folding boxes in this region.
In the region of the lower straight portion 42 of the transfer apparatus 10, a transporting apparatus can be provided, which has a plurality of driving fingers, arranged spaced apart, between which a compartment is formed in each case, into which compartment one folding box can be inserted in each case. These compartments can be filled from above with one folding box in each case by the transfer apparatus, wherein a controlled filling of the individual chambers is possible due to the straight portion 42 of the rail system 40.
Due to the option of such a defined transfer of the folding boxes to the transporting device, the insertion of the product into the folding box can then take place both from the operating side and from the opposite side. Hitherto, the insertion regularly took place from the operating side, as the prestress prevailing in the folding box — caused by the transport and the storage as flat blanks — would otherwise lead to a collapse of the as yet unfilled folding boxes, which would hinder the insertion of the product. Insertion from the side opposite the operating side increases the accessibility of the cartoning machine, which facilitates the control of the machine during continuous operation considerably.
Depending on the number and complexity of the further apparatuses placed around the transfer apparatus for opening the folding box, instead of two parallel straight portions, two straight portions running at an angle to one another can also be provided, which portions would be connected to one another by means of a curved portion in each case. In this case, the curved portions could, as described above, be realized as circle segments with a constant radius. The corresponding transfer apparatus could in this case likewise enable a compact structure.
In contrast to the exemplary embodiment illustrated here, the rail system 40 could also only have one straight portion. In this case, the two ends of the straight portion would be connected by means of a single curved portion. This curved portion should not have a constant radius in this case however, as the transition between the straight portion and the curved portion should take place tangentially. As a result, a relatively large rail system would be required, so that the transfer apparatuses known in the prior art would be of somewhat smaller construction.
Alternatively, four straight portions could also be provided, which can be connected to one another by means of curved portions in the form of a quarter circle. In this case, the rail system would have the shape of a rectangle with rounded corners.
