Description
Pivot joint connection and sectional gate leaf having a pivot joint connection
The invention relates to a pivot joint connection as a transfer element, essentially consisting of two attachment plates connected by means of a joint, for connecting movable elements, which extend in horizontal extension, as well as to a sectional gate leaf having such a pivot joint connection.
The document US 5,706,877 shows a sectional gate, which comprises a plurality of gate leaf elements, which are articulately connected among each other. On the gate leaf, on the interior side thereof, a reinforcement mechanism is disposed, which consists of individual tube elements, which essentially have the height of the individual gate leaf elements. Among each other, the reinforcing elements are connected to each other by means of hinges. Furthermore, a gate interlocking system is provided, which, in the locking position, engages into a floor-side depression.
With the document EP 1 722 052 B1 a lock for an entry door in a sectional gate, in particular for garages, has been made public. In this case, for transferring the movement onto upper and lower rods of the lock, which is installed within a sectional gate or the like having an emergency escape door, an elastic connection with a rod configuration is effective between the individual gate elements at the top and at the bottom. In this case, the connection comprises means for guiding and positioning so that the various elements of the incorporated door and of the gate are able to reach a horizontal position from the vertical position and vice versa without any hindrance of the movement and of the positioning of the lock dead-bolts. In this case, it is of no importance whether the door is open or closed.
The document EP 1 335 097 A2 discloses a pivot joint connection of this species, essentially consisting of two attachment lugs, which are connected by means of a joint, and a sectional gate having a pivot joint connection.
The problem of the invention is to develop a pivot joint connection for different applications, which is likewise applicable with an integration of a door into a gate. In this case, the pivot joint connection should be functional without sacrificing any functions, and moreover offer the possibility of assuming a further maintenance-free function in that the interlocking systems or the like, provided at a door, which is incorporated within a gate, remain readily functional and protected against manipulation under all circumstances.
The problem of the invention is respectively solved with the features of patent claims 1, 2 and 12. In this case, the dependent claims represent another embodiment of the inventive idea.
In a first embodiment, the existing pivot joint connection is formed by means of an additional pivot joint connection between horizontally extending movable elements.
However, said additional pivot joint connection includes a separate rotatable connection, which allows for accommodating connecting elements at its ends. Said connecting elements represent the interface to the neighbouring pivot joint connections in a manner that always one transfer element is provided between two pivot joint connections. Preferably, such a transfer element is configured as a flat structural member. In a preferred embodiment, said transfer element may consist of spring steel or of any other suitable material. The end-sided transfer elements with a door or the like may be provided with interlocking elements for the engagement in stationary structural members.
In a further embodiment, it is possible that the pivot joint connection does not only include a separate rotatable connection, but two rotatable connections, which are connected by means of a centerpiece.
In the following and for simplifying the description, reference is being made to the embodiment including two rotatable connections. However, the here described functioning is also applicable without the existing centerpiece, to the embodiment including only one rotatable connection. A corresponding embodiment of the known pivot joint connection between two movable elements in horizontal direction consists in this case essentially of two attachment plates, which are rotatably connected by means of a joint. Such attachment plates will be attached to the abutting movable horizontally extending elements by means of screw connections.
With the intention to integrate the invention into known pivot joint connections, guiding elements are provided on the attachment plates, in a preferred embodiment as an integral embodiment. Within the guiding elements, the connecting elements, which are connected among each other to the centerpiece, are guided via rotatable connections. One preferred embodiment of the guide may be performed in this case in guiding receptions. Thereby, it will be ensured that, upon a pivoting movement of the movable elements, the centerpiece does not experience any mechanical sticking or the like to the connecting elements.
The embodiment employing a centerpiece and adjoining connecting elements, while inserting rotatable connections offers particular advantages. Even with a not properly closed dead bolt, for example in case of intermediate positions, a rotary movement of the movable elements may be performed by means of the second pivot joint connection. With the intention to include a reliable exterior termination, in areas of the attachment plates, the pivot joint connection is respectively crowned by a cover. Simultaneously, said termination elements form an antimanipulation protection and a uniform appearance with further fittings.
In order to be able to achieve a simple structure and to perform a quick installation of the double executed pivot joint connection, the pivot joint connection will not be mounted directly onto the movable element, which is for example embodied as a panel of a sectional gate or the like with a door. Rather, an end profile will be used, which rests directly on the movable element and is also connected to the latter. Respectively one transfer element is included in a guided and movable manner within the end profile. Said transfer element includes end-sided catches, which engage with the connecting elements of the second integrated pivot joint connection. Thereby, mounting is considerably simplified, because in this manner during mounting the placing onto the catches does not cause any problems, and an attachment of the first pivot joint connection via the end profile to the panel or the like is simple.
The above-described embodiment clearly illustrates that such a procedure represents a concealed arrangement of the transfer element and of the second pivot joint connection. Simultaneously, this circumstance offers a protection against manipulations, because, from the outside, it is not visible that the transfer elements for a translational movement of an interlocking unit or the like are also located within the end profiles.
Simultaneously, the end profile allows for further integrations of the profile in that for example a lateral branch is provided, which transitions into a terminal branch. Thereby, a clean exterior surface termination to the elements of the gate and of the door is achieved. Moreover, it is possible to also insert sealing means within the projecting locating branch, with the intention to sealingly terminate such a door within a sectional gate or the like.
Thus, the pivot joint connection configured according to the invention may be employed in different areas of application. In addition to a proper interlocking of a door in a sectional gate or the like, also a sectional gate without an installed door may be provided with the pivot joint connection. In such a case the interlocking position in stationary floor elements or frames or profile arrangements would be possible. The utilisation of the pivot joint connection may be employed for both the sectional gate leaf itself and simultaneously or separately for an integrated door.
Further advantages, features and application possibilities of the present invention will result from the following description in conjunction with the exemplary embodiments illustrated in the drawings.
The terminology and associated reference numerals listed in the list of reference numerals will be employed throughout the description, the claims and the drawings. In the drawing represents:
Figure 1 a perspective illustration of an arrangement consisting of two pivot joint connections;
Figure 2 the same as Fig. 1, however without covers;
Figure 3 the same as Fig. 2, however from a different viewing direction;
Figure 4 the pivot joint connections in a rear-sided illustration;
Figure 5 the double pivot joint connection with integration of two end profiles configured according to Fig. 1;
Figure 6 a top view onto the pivot joint connection including the end profile;
Figure 7 the same as Fig. 5, however in a rear-sided view with end profiles pivoted with regard to each other;
Figure 8 the pivot joint connections with integrated transfer elements seen from the rear side;
Figure 9 the same as Fig. 5, however with integration of door elements;
Figure 10 the double-articulated connection in a pivoted position; and
FigureH the same as Fig. 10, however, in an intermediate position of the second pivot joint connection.
In the perspective illustration according to Figure 1, a pivot joint connection 4 is illustrated, which, in its center, includes a further pivot joint connection 30, and is configured as the transfer element 6. Both pivot joint connections 4 and 30, in their joints 3 and in a rotatable connection 7, are not connected to each other. Thus, the pivot joint connection 4 represents a transfer element 6 in the area of two abutting movable elements 31, which are for example connected to each other in a horizontal direction. The upper part of the pivot joint connection 4 is covered by a cover 1, and the lower part is covered by a cover 12, wherein attachment bores 11 for the attachment to the preferably plate-shaped elements 31 are provided within the covers. With the intention not to limit the mobility of the pivot joint connection 4, the covers 1 and 2 have a cut out 16.
After removing the covers 1 and 2, the underlying structure of the pivot joint connections 4 and 30 becomes visible. Essentially, in this case, the pivot joint connection 4 consists of two attachment plates 28, 29, which are connected among each other by means of the joint 3. Preferably, in the central area of Figure 2 respectively one guiding element 8 is provided on the attachment plates 28 and 29. The opposite located guiding elements 8 are aligned among each other on the attachment plates 28 and 29. The pivot joint connection 30 is included within the guiding elements 8, which are connected to the attachment plates 28 and 29 directly or by means of appropriate connections. In this preferred embodiment, essentially, the pivot joint connection 30 consists of a centerpiece 12, the ends thereof being provided with rotatable connections 7, so as to connect connecting elements 5 adjoining thereto and being rotatable among each other. As likewise clearly illustrated in Figure 2, there is no connection at all between the rotatable connections 7 and the joint 3.
Preferably, within the guiding elements 8 lateral guides 9 are provided, in which the connecting elements 5 are supported to be slidable. Thereby, it is ensured that, upon a rotary movement of the pivot joint connection 4, a reliable sliding of the connecting elements 5 is guaranteed. Moreover, said translational movement needs to operate interference-free, for example also when employing a locking equipment or other connecting elements. This is particularly well visible in Figure 3, which also reveals the guiding means in the shape of guides 9 and an extension 10 at the connecting elements 5. With the intention to be able to achieve a connection to the displaceable transfer elements 19, receptions 13 are provided within the connecting elements 5.
Figure 4 reveals the structure of the transfer element 6 seen from the rear side. In this case, the attachment plates 28 and 29 are provided with break throughs 14 and 15, which allow for guaranteeing a connection to the transfer elements 19 by means of the receptions 13.
An exterior view of one possible embodiment with end profiles 17, 18 and with a pivot joint connection 4 therebetween is revealed in Figure 5. In this case, the end profiles 17, 18 form the lateral vertical terminations of the elements 31, which may be associated to both the gate and the door alike. This illustration, which, according to Figure 9, is also illustrated in conjunction with the elements 31, emphasizes that the transfer element 19 is not visible to the outside.
When viewing the illustration according to Figure 6, it is noticeable that the transfer element 19 is translationally displaceable within the guides 20 with an end-sided cut out 23 in the end profiles 17, 18, and is not visible from the outside. For connecting the transfer element 19 to the connecting element 5, the latter includes preferably wound catches 22 at its ends, wherein the catches 22 engage in the receptions 13 of the connecting elements 5. Thereby, a simple mounting of the transfer element 6 with the pivot joint connection 4 and the pivot joint connection 30 is possible via the end profile 17, 18 by simple fitting. The transfer elements 6 are connected to the end profiles 17, 18 and the element 31 via the attachment bores 11. In order to guarantee a simple possibility for inserting the transfer element 19, the ends of the end profiles 17, 18 are provided with free spaces 21 or recesses 32.
According to Figure 8 joining both the upper and lower inserted transfer elements 19 to the pivot joint connection 30 and the cooperation with the pivot joint connection 4 are again clearly illustrated. In this case, the catches 22 engage into the receptions 13 of the connecting elements 5. The centerpiece 12, which is connected to the connecting elements 5 by means of the end-sided rotatable connections 7, is inserted between the guided connecting elements 5.
Figure 7 shows the transfer element 6 in an installed position, in which the pivot joint connections 4 and 30 are represented in a slightly pivoted illustration at the end profiles 17. It becomes evident that the centerpiece 12, with its end-sided rotatable connections 7 is not rotated in the same position of the centre of rotation of the joint 3. The same is revealed as well in an enlarged separate illustration in Figure 11. Particularly, the embodiment of the double-articulated rotatable connection 7 with the centerpiece 12 shows that also with transfer elements 19, which are not perfectly aligned, a reliable pivoting of the attachment plates 28, 29 is possible. This circumstance becomes in particular possible by means of the fact that the connecting elements 5 are independently displaceable within the guiding elements 8, wherein compensation is achieved via the centerpiece 12.
The ideal position of the pivot joint connection 30 is seen in Figure 10, wherein the independent pivot joint connections 4 and 30 with the joints 3 and the rotatable connections 7 are aligned.
In the event the end profiles 17, 18 are employed for example with a door leaf within a sectional gate with elements 31, as shown in Figure 9, any optional number of the elements 31 may be connected to each other one above the other in a tiltable manner by means of transfer elements 6. The end profiles 17, 18, which may be employed for a door or a gate or the like, are similarly embodied and are manufactured as extruded profiles. From the branch, which rests upon the surface of the element 31 and in which the transfer element 19 is guided, starts a lateral branch 24 at an angle of 90° and covers the edge area of the element 31. The end of the lateral branch 24 is identified in the exemplary embodiment of Figure 6 as the terminal branch 25. Thereby, the element 31 may be inserted into the space between the terminal branch 25 and the lateral wall of the end profile 17, 18. This circumstance allows for a clean exterior termination. Such an embodiment of Figure 6 underlines that, in addition to a safe termination, also the visual appearance, for example of the door within a sectional gate, is reliably embodied. In order to be able to likewise seal the door area with regard to the element 31 of the sectional gate, a locating branch 26 is provided in a projecting manner in the opposite direction of the terminal branch 25. The locating branch 26 includes among others a sealing reception 27, into which a seal may be inserted, and also electrical wires may be laid into the remaining spaces.
