Description

Description
The invention relates to an electrical installation switch or button comprising a device base/switching insert with connection terminals for phase and neutral conductors and switched outputs, and also a rocker with a light outlet for illuminating a side edge, for installation in a conventional proprietary flush-mounted socket box (specifically in accordance with DIN 49073) . A first housing of existing electrical switches, comprised of an upper part and a base part, with an actuating rocker, the light-permeable regions of which are illuminable, is known from DE 10 2007 045 578 B3. The lighting device, having at least one lighting means, is provided with a second housing, which is arranged for attachment to the first housing. The lighting device is provided with spring-loaded contact elements which, on one side, are connected to the lighting means and, on the other side, engage with stationary contact elements arranged in the first housing in a contact-making arrangement. To this end, corresponding openings are provided in the first housing for the spring-loaded contact elements of the lighting device. From DE 10 2006 017 915 B3, an electrical/electronic installation device is known, which is comprised of a base part, a retaining ring fitted to the base part, a cover frame and a lighting device. The lighting device is provided with at least one light-emitting diode and an electric circuit board equipped with further electronic components. At least one first fibre-optic element is arranged to interact with the light-emitting diode. At least one second fibre-optic element is attached to the upper side of the retaining ring. The light coupling region of the second fibre-optic element is directly associated with the first fibre-optic element, and its light decoupling region is directly associated with a light emission window arranged on the cover frame.
From DE 10 2007 001 850 B3, an installation switch or button with a device base, a rocker and a lighting device is known, wherein an optical fibre is arranged on the reverse side of the rocker, and wherein a lamp-holder with a lamp is arranged in the device base, the light of which is radiated onto a light inlet surface of the optical fibre. With the installation switch or button in the installed state, the rocker, on the side edge thereof which is preferably oriented towards the floor, incorporates a light emission opening which accommodates a light emission surface of the optical fibre, such that the floor area arranged below the installed installation switch or button is illuminated. In the embodiment of an installation switch with two different rocker positions, the lamp is only switched-in where the rocker is in the switched-out position whereas, with the rocker in the switched-in position, the light remains switched-out. Although the light emission opening is preferably arranged to radiate in the floor direction, the mounting of the installation switch or button can also be alternatively rotated through 180°, such that the light emission opening radiates in the ceiling direction, whereby, in the event of a very bright, and preferably a white ceiling, the reflection of the irradiated light is achieved, thus permitting the desired lighting of the floor .
From DE 203 13 428 Ul, a lighting device is known, comprised of a mounting plate, a circuit board eguipped with light-emitting diodes and, where applicable, further electronic components, with power feeders, a light distribution disk and a masking frame with a light emission opening. The power feeders are routed to an outlet box, which is substantially arranged behind the lighting device, and incorporates a transformer which is connectable to the grid system. The connecting lines for a plurality of lighting devices can be routed behind a wall covering (tiling, mirror tiles) to a central connection point, at which a low-voltage power source (transformer) is installed.
The object of the invention is the disclosure of an installation switch or button with a device base/switching insert with a rocker, with a light outlet for a lighting device, which is optimized in respect of energy efficiency and light intensity.
This object is fulfilled according to the invention, in conjunction with the characteristics of the introductory clause to Claim 1, wherein a converter is mounted on the bottom side of the device base/switching insert, wherein the converter makes contact on the primary side, via two connection terminals respectively, with components which are electrically connected to said connection terminals, wherein an LED lighting means is mounted on the rocker, and wherein the converter, on the secondary side, makes contact with the LED lighting means by means of a contact part.
Specific advantages are achievable by means of the invention wherein, by the direct incorporation of the LED lighting means into the rocker, a significantly greater light intensity and a simultaneously significantly higher efficiency, in comparison with the prior art, can be achieved. The path to the switch is illuminated such that, for example, objects on the floor can be very clearly identified, thereby significantly reducing any trip hazard. In general, conventional device bases/switching inserts can be used for this purpose, to which a converter is fitted on the underside. The only component which needs to be newly-developed, manufactured and supplied is the rocker. Electrical bonding between the LED lighting means in the rocker and the converter is effected by the contacting means which are accommodated in the device base/switching insert, thus permitting the rocker (including the LED lighting means) to be disconnected from the device base/switching insert, without the need for the detachment of electrical conductors beforehand.
The retrofitting of the installation switch or button of a device with no lighting system, or of a device with pilot lighting, to constitute a proposed device with a lighting system at a later date can be straightforwardly and cost-effectively undertaken at any time, simply by the replacement of the existing rocker with a proposed rocker with a lighting system, and moreover by the fitting of the converter to the underside of the device base/switching insert. The device base/switching insert with no converter fitted corresponds exactly to the device base/switching insert of the type which can also be used for a conventional installation switch or button .
By means of a corresponding electric circuit arrangement, a selective activation of the switch-mounted LED lighting means and of the external lighting system controlled by the installation switch or button is deployed such that, when the external lighting system is switched-out, the switch-mounted LED lighting means are illuminated, and when the external lighting system is switched-in, the switch-mounted LED lighting means are switched out.
For an installation switch or button, by the preferred selection of the rocker and the cover frame, an elegant incorporation/integration into a scheme of installation devices or a scheme of switches and sockets can be achieved, together with a combination with further devices, for example switches/buttons/dimmers/sockets, in said scheme of switches and sockets.
Advantageous configurations of the invention are described in the sub-claims.
The invention is described hereinafter with reference to the exemplary embodiments represented in the drawing. Herein:
Fig. 1 shows a perspective view of an electrical installation switch or button, in the form of an "exploded diagram",
Figs. 2, 3 show two side views of an electrical installation switch or button,
Fig. 4 shows a view of the underside of an electrical installation switch or button,
Fig. 5 shows a lateral cross-section of an electrical installation switch or button.
Fig. 1 represents a perspective view of an electrical installation switch or button in the form of an "exploded diagram". The main components of the electrical installation switch or button 1 are: a device base/switching insert 4, a rocker 9, a cover frame 16, and a converter 18 (power supply unit, LED driver), incorporating a control and regulation system.
As is generally customary, the device base/switching insert 4 which is configured for installation in a conventional proprietary flush-mounted socket block is provided with four connection terminals 5, incorporating spring-action release buttons, namely one connection terminal for the 230V phase L, one connection terminal for the neutral conductor N, one connection terminal for a first switched output and one connection terminal for a second switched output wherein, as is generally customary: when a voltage (at phase L) is applied to the first switched output, no voltage is present on the second switched output, when a voltage (at phase L) is applied to the second switched output, no voltage is present on the first switched output.
Moreover, the device base/switching insert 4 is naturally provided with a retaining ring 6 and a spring-clip spreader 7 for installation in the flush-mounted socket box.
With the installation switch or button in the installed state, the rocker 9, on the side edge thereof which is preferably oriented towards the floor, incorporates a light outlet 10, preferably incorporating an optical lens, such that the floor area arranged below the installed installation switch or button is illuminated. Retaining elements 15 are provided for the attachment of the rocker 9 to the retaining ring 6.
The converter 18 for the supply of power to an LED lighting means 13 which is described in greater detail hereinafter (c.f. Fig. 5) is fitted (installed) on the underside of the device base/switching insert 4, and is provided with a covering section 17 which disengages laterally from the quadrilateral housing and which, in the direction of the underside of the device base/switching insert 4, is provided with at least one bolt 21. The converter 18 is provided with a central sleeve 20 which is oriented towards the underside of the device base/switching insert 4. With the converter 18 in the fitted position, this sleeve 20 engages with a central bore in the device base/switching insert 4.
On either side of this sleeve 20, in the region of the base of the housing, two contacts 19 are arranged for the primary connection of the converter 18. In the installed state, these two contacts 19 preferably engage with two contacts in the base of the device base/switching insert 4, which are electrically connected to the two connection terminals 5 for the neutral conductor N and for a second switched output which is covered by the covering section 17.
Via the interior of the sleeve 20, secondary connection of the converter 18 is effected by means of a contact part 22 which is inserted between the converter 18 and the rocker 9, wherein an appropriate cylindrical section for insertion in the sleeve 20 is provided with end-mounted contact-making elements 23, which engage with the secondary terminal of the converter 18 in an electrically contact-making manner, a flat section is provided with contact surfaces 24, which engage in an electrically contact-making manner with corresponding spring-action contact pins 12 on a printed circuit board 11 which is mounted on the rear side of the rocker 9.
Figs. 2 and 3 show two side views of an electrical installation switch or button (mutually rotated through 90°) wherein, in both representations of the electrical installation switch or button 1, the converter 18 is fitted (installed) on the underside of the device base/switching insert 4. The retaining ring 6, the position of the connection terminals 5 incorporating the spring-action release buttons, the spring-clip spreaders 7, the cover frame 16 and the rocker 9, incorporating the light outlet 10, can be seen in each case. In the side view shown in Fig. 3, a covering section 17 is additionally represented, which covers one of the two switched outputs arranged on the underside of the device base/switching insert 4, and wherein bolts 21 engage in infeed openings for the conductor wire, thereby contributing to the anti-rotation locking of the converter 18 on the device base/switching insert 4.
Fig. 4 represents a view of the underside of an electrical installation switch or button. It will be seen that, notwithstanding the fitting (installation) of the converter 18 on the underside of the device base/switching insert 4, unrestricted access to three of the four connection terminals 5 is provided, namely to the connection terminal for phase L, to the connection terminal for the neutral conductor N and to the connection terminal for a first switched output. The connection terminal for a second switched output is covered by the covering section 17. Moreover, the retaining ring 6 and the spring-clip spreaders 7 of the device base/switching insert 4, together with the edge region of the cover frame 16 of the electrical installation switch or button 1 which extends over the retaining ring 6, are also represented.
Fig. 5 represents a lateral cross-section of an electrical installation switch or button. A LED lighting means 13 is arranged directly on the light outlet 10 (with its optical lens) of the rocker 9. The LED lighting 13 means is electrically connected to the printed circuit board 11. By means of a heat sink 14, configured e.g. in the form of a cooling plate, arranged inside the rocker 9, preferably on the rear side of the rocker, heat energy generated by the LED lighting 13 means during operation is dissipated to the external atmosphere.
An important feature is the conduction of power from the printed circuit board 11 via the spring-action contact pins 12 and the contact surfaces 24 of the contact part 22 with its contact-making elements 23, which engage with the corresponding contacts on the sleeve 20 of the converter 18. In turn, the converter 18 converts the AC mains voltage tapped from the device base/switching insert 4 via its contacts 19 into a constant direct current, e.g. of 350 mA, for the supply of the LED lighting means 13.
Specifically, Fig. 5 also represents the central bore of the device base/switching insert 4, into which both the sleeve 20 and the cylindrical section of the contact part 22 are inserted. Moreover, the retaining ring 6, the connection terminals 5 incorporating the spring-action release buttons, and the cover frame 16 of the installation switch or button can also be seen.
The LED lighting means 13 itself can be comprised of a single LED or of a plurality of LEDs, depending upon the light intensity desired.
Naturally, further variants of embodiment can be executed, featuring an alternative arrangement of the LED lighting means 13 within the rocker 9. A key criterion in all variants of embodiment is the direct integration of the LED lighting means 13 into the rocker 9, including the reguisite power infeed, by means of the contact part 22, for the supply of the LED lighting means 13, which permits the straightforward detachment of the rocker 9 from the installed device base/switching insert 4.
Thus far, the light outlet 10 described has preferably radiated in the direction of the floor. Alternatively, the installation switch or button can also be mounted with a rotation through 180°, such that the light opening 10 radiates in the ceiling direction, whereby, in the event of a very bright, and preferably a white ceiling, reflection is achieved, thus permitting the desired lighting of the floor.
Naturally, the invention is universally applicable in arrangements for breaking circuits, two-way circuits, intermediate switch circuits and momentary-contact switches.
