Abstract

The invention relates to a lock cylinder (1) having a housing (2) and a cylinder core (4) which is mounted in a housing bore (3) and has a key channel (5) which can receive a key and has zones (7) of relatively hard material arranged on both sides of the key channel (5), in the vicinity of the mouth (6) of the key channel (5). In order to reduce wear, it is proposed that the zones of relatively hard material (7) are spaced apart from one another to such a small extent that right from the start, or following wear-induced abrasion of the key-channel wall (8), they form part of this key-channel wall.
