Patentkrav:claims:
1. A method of preparing a composition useful for removing the phosphate content from water which contains mechanochemically activating by grinding a mixture of 0.1 to 99.9 parts by mass of one or more iron compounds selected from the group of solid aqueous Fe (II) and Fe (III) salts and their oxidized states, 99.9 to 0.1 parts by mass of a porous aluminum silicate containing exchangeable ions, and 0.1 to 10 moles of a calcium ion source, namely calcium carbonate together with either calcium oxide or calcium hydroxide or both per. moles of iron compound. A method for removing the phosphate content from water, the method comprising treating the water with a composition according to claims 1 to 8. The method according to claim 10, which comprises treating water at pH 4 to 8.
