Hereby is by relative simple means achieved a strongly improved new sealing system which by way of example may be used for securing extraordinary sealing of doorways such as emergency doors - the function of which are tested only a few times per year - however it is never mind of great importance that the sealing function of such seldom operated emergency doors are held in good order.
Description
A sealing system
Field of the Invention
The present invention relates to a sealing system of the type mentioned in the preamble to claim 1.
Background of the Invention
It is common practice to provide door panels which are mounted swinging in surrounding frames of doorways with sealing profiles where mostly only the one part being provided with surrounding sealing profiles of which a free round going edge part is adapted to face and engage with the opposite part either an edge part of the surrounding frame or an edge of the door panel.
However, under certain conditions where the sealing system is used for sealing an emergency door which is only used occasionally the requirements to the sealing system are quite different because the sealing profiles in such a situation are often when again closing such emergency door not possible to effect an effective sealing because the flexibility of the sealing profiles in the meantime have been considerable reduced.
Object of the Invention
On that background the present invention has for its purpose to provide an improved door sealing system adapted to be used in securing the best possible sealing of doors of the general type and also for sealing doors where the swinging door panel is not opened rather often - such as emergency doors. However, the requirement of an effective tight sealing of all types of doors is of course still a very important issue.
Description of the Invention
The sealing system according to the invention is characterized in that said first hardness is lower than that of the second hardness and that the first face at any place has a first extension which is larger than that of the second extension of the facing second face.
Hereby is by relative simple means achieved a strongly improved new sealing system which by way of example may be used for securing extraordinary sealing of doorways such as emergency doors - the function of which is tested only a few times per year -however it is of course of great importance that the sealing function of such seldom operated emergency doors is held in good order.
In the pharmaceutical industry manufacturing facilities and store houses are often situated in the open land at locations where the buildings are hidden by surrounding plantation in order to establish best possible environmental conditions - but with the risk of being invaded by insects such as ants and/or scolopendras.
Tests have shown that the sealing system according to the present invention in practice may be used with great success in the pharmaceutical industry, where the best possible sealing of exterior doors is of certain importance, because the presence of only a few insects such as ants or scolopendras may cause the FDA (Food and Drug Association) to close down store houses and manufacturing buildings which could cause enormous loss for the actual pharmaceutical company.
In order to prevent the possibility of the intrusion of pollutions the sealing system according to the invention is such provided that the sealing material of said first and second sealing parts is impermeable to air and fluid (water).
In order to simplify the sealing system according to the present invention the sealing system is such provided that said first sealing part including said first face and said first extension has an approximately rectangular cross section.
Alternatively, the sealing system according to the invention being such provided that said first sealing part including said first face and said first extension has an approximately wedge shaped cross section, where the narrow edge part is facing a free edge part of the door panel.
And in order to further simplify the sealing system according to the invention the sealing system is such provided that said at least one sealing part has broader side surfaces, one of which is adapted to be mounted on said surrounding frame member, while the other broad side surface is facing said other sealing part.
The sealing system according to the invention is such provided that the cross section of said other sealing part is approximately triangular with a pointed edge adapted to engage with said broader side surface of said first sealing part.
The sealing system according to the invention is preferably such provided that the hardness of said first sealing material of said at least one sealing part is in the range of 40-60 Shore A.
The sealing system according to the invention is preferably such provided that the hardness of said second sealing material of said other sealing part is in the range of 60-90 Shore A.
Preferably the sealing system according to the invention is such provided that the cross sections of said at least two sealing parts are distinctly different, and that the cross section of said at least one sealing part is approximately rectangular.
In order to further improve the function of the sealing system according to the invention the sealing system is such provided that another sealing part has a cross section with more mutual parallel pointed edges adapted to engage with said broader side surface of said first sealing part.

Detailed Description of the Invention
The sealing system 2 shown in Figs. 1A-4B is adapted for sealing a doorway opening 4 comprising a surrounding frame member 6 and at least one swinging arranged closure (door) panel 8.
And the sealing system 2 comprises a first sealing part 10 of a first sealing material 14 with a first hardness, a first face and a first extension. Said first sealing part 10 is adapted to be mounted on said frame member 6 of the doorway opening 4, and a second sealing part 12 of a second sealing material 16 with a second hardness, a second face and a second extension, which second sealing part 12 is adapted to be mounted on said swinging arranged door panel 8.
Said first hardness of said first sealing part 10 is lower than that of the second hardness and that said first face at any place has a first extension which is larger than that of the second extension of the facing second face.
The sealing material 14, 16 of said first and second sealing parts 10, 12 is impermeable to air and fluid (water).
As shown most clearly in Figs, 1A-4A said first sealing part 10 including said first face and first extension has an approximately rectangular cross section, while the cross section of said second sealing part 12 is triangular with a pointed edge 18 adapted to engage with a broad side surface of said first sealing part 10.
The rectangular cross section of first sealing part 10 is 20x10 mm, while said second sealing part 12 has a width at the bottom of 15 mm and a height of 10 mm.
As shown in Figs. 5-7 the sealing system according to the invention may in an alternative configuration be such provided that said first sealing part 26 including said first face and said first extension has an approximately wedge shaped cross section, where the lower edge part 28 is facing a free edge part of the door panel 8.
By this special cross sectional configuration of said first sealing part 26 it may be prevented that the pointed edge part of said second sealing part 12 - when closing the doorway opening 4 by swinging the door panel 8 inwardly against said surrounding frame member 6 - engages with the lower edge part 28 of said first sealing part 26 and causes to damage or loosen the said second sealing part 12 from its mounting on the surrounding frame member 6.
The wedge shaped cross section is shown most clearly in Fig. 6 - where said alternative first sealing part 26 has a width of 20 mm and a largest height of 10 mm while the height at the lower edge 28 is about 1 mm.
Such alternative shaped first sealing part 26 may advantageously be mounted along the internal hinge side of a door panel 8, while along the external lock side of the door panel 8 and along the top and bottom edges of the door panel 8 may be mounted ordinary first sealing parts 10 having rectangular cross section.
Figs. 8 and 9 shows a right-angled comer part 30 of the alternative first sealing part 26 adapted to by gluing to be connected with straight lengths of alternative first sealing parts 26 along a surrounding outer edge of an door panel 8.
Figs. 10A and 10B shows a sealing system 2 mounted at the internal hinge side of a doorway 4, where a stationary frame part 6 along an edge part is mounted with a second sealing part 12 having a triangular cross section, while a swinging arranged door panel 8 which along the internal hinge side is mounted with alternative first sealing part 26 having wedge shaped cross section.
As stated above the sealing system 2 according to the invention may be such provided that another sealing part (not shown) has a cross section with more mutual parallel pointed edges adapted to engage with said broader side surface 20 of said first sealing part 10. Hereby is in a simple manner obtained that minor misalignments at the doorway opening frame 6 or at the door panel may be acceptable without causing serious leakages of the sealing system 2 as such.
In the opening paragraphs it is emphasised that the sealing system 2 in particular is developed for use in connection with the effective sealing of emergency doors that is doors which are not often operated. However, the sealing system 2 according to the present invention has shown indeed good qualities also in connection with the sealing of standard doors in buildings.
