Description

i 180738in 180738

OF THE INVENTION The invention relates to a stackable container made by folding a cut blank and comprising a square bottom surrounded on all sides by a side wall which extends tapered upwards and consisting of square wall panels connected in the corner areas to triangle the folding parts that start from the bottom corners and are folded over each other and over the wall panels respectively.

Containers of this kind usually have three triangular folds at each corner. However, by means of three such folding parts a great stability cannot be obtained, and the known containers usually have e.g. an edge reinforcement e.g. in the form of a folded rim. In DE-OS 18 10 600 and US-PS 3,536,248 it is mentioned as an opportunity to avoid such a folded edge, but only detailed examples with folded edge are shown and mentioned which obviously make the construction and manufacture more complicated. These known containers are of relatively small size, being adapted to eat directly from them, and are obviously not designed to allow their dimensions to exceed a relatively small size.

It is an object of the invention to provide a container of the aforementioned kind which has a simple design and which, even at large dimensions, has sufficient stability for storing liquid and other liquid materials.

This is achieved according to the invention in that in each corner area there are seven folding parts folded in such a way as to form folding edges which are adjacent to each other and that the folded folding parts on the inner and outer sides of each corner area are respectively in direct extension of each other.

2 1507382 150738

The advantage of the container according to the invention consists in substantially increasing the stability of the container. Of course, just like the known containers, there are only three layers of material in the corner areas, but as each 5 folding edge extending from the top edge of the corner down to the bottom contributes to the stability of the container, the greater number of folding edges on the container according to the invention formed by the folding of the seven folding parts, a substantial improvement of the stability. Furthermore, it has been found that the greater number of fold parts allow some resilience of the corner areas without significantly impairing the stability of the fold edges, but so that the pressure effect on the corner areas, e.g. are filled with 15 containers stacked on containers, insofar as these impacts are not absorbed by the corner areas, distributed on the adjacent surfaces. Due to this resilience of the corner areas, damage to these, e.g. due to impact, the folds, due to the yield, will open slightly in the area where the impact occurs.

Inside of two places and outside of one place, the edges of the folding members are folded against each other such that the folding edges of the folded parts abut close together. Liquid material in the container 25 can therefore only very difficult or at all not penetrate behind the folds, thereby avoiding the risk of the folds being softened or otherwise damaged. It has been found that the container according to the invention can have rather large dimensions, even when made of paper or cardboard. Since paper or cardboard is approved as a container material for storing many chemicals for which plastic and metal are not allowed, the present invention provides a simple container, which may preferably consist of paper or cardboard, and which is also useful for storing aggressive materials. chemistry- 3 150738 lyre. At the same time, the container is very stable and reliable, which is also necessary for storing the said materials. The container, therefore, has the advantage that the folding can be done in a relatively simple manner along straight lines, so that the container can be made mechanically.

Of course, although the container is preferably made of paper or cardboard, it may also be made of other materials, e.g. plastic or metal.

When the container is made of cardboard, the stability can be clearly increased by the use of multilayer cardboard for the manufacture. The container may be folded after curing of the multilayer paper glue, but if folding occurs before curing of the glue, no further bonding 15 will be required to keep the folding stable after the pressure exerted on the folding and the tool used, respectively, is removed. It has been found particularly advantageous to produce the five-layer cardboard container, and a particularly favorable material is Scandinavian kraft paper or baking soda paper.

For these materials, the weight per layers amount approx. 300 g / m and the thickness should be approx. 0.5 mm to obtain a particularly suitable container for the desired purpose. The layers may be adhered with polyvinyl alcohol adhesive or hot melt adhesive. These materials have proved particularly suitable, but of course other oak mesh adhesives may also be used.

The advantages of the container according to the invention can be fully utilized when its volume is at least 56 liters. With a volume of 56 liters, on the one hand, the benefits are fully utilized, and this volume on the other hand fits the standards for packaging. The container may also advantageously have larger volumes, which of course does not mean that it cannot advantageously be made with smaller volumes.

The invention is further explained with reference to the exemplary embodiment of a container according to the invention shown in the drawing. 1 is a perspective view of a container according to the invention; FIG. Figure 2 shows a carton blanked item for making the container; 3 is a sectional view taken along the line shown in FIG. 1 with plan III, and FIG. 4 is a sectional view taken along the line shown in FIG. 1 with plan IV.

The container 1 shown consists of a base 2 and four wall panels 3-6. From the corners 2 of the bottom 2, folding portions 8-14 are formed which are shaped like pointed triangles with the wide end lying at the upper edge of the wall panels.

Foldningen af foldedelene 8-14 sker som følger:The folding parts 8-14 are shown in more detail in FIG. 2, showing a blank with drawn lines 15-28, of which fold lines are shown fully drawn, while the lines on which the fold edges lie after the fold are shown in dotted lines. In the upright position, the wall panel 3 is folded barely 90 ° around the fold line 15 from the plane of the drawing 20 upwards towards the observer. The same applies to the wall panels 4, 5 and 6. The folding of the fold parts 8-14 takes place as follows:

Foldedelen 8 foldes således bagud omkring foldelinien 17, at dens foldekant 18 kommer til at ligge bag linien 25 16. Derpå foldes foldedelen 9 igen fremad omkring fol dekanten 18, således at dens linie 19 kommer til at ligge under foldekanten 17. Foldedelen 10 foldes derpå fremad omkring foldekanten 20, indtil dens kant 21 kommer til at ligge på foldedelen 9's linie 19. Derefter 5 150738 bliver foldedelen 11 foldet omkring kanten 21 i den anden retning, således at dens linie 22 kommer til at ligge over foldelinien 2D. Foldedelen 12 bliver derpå foldet bagud omkring foldekanten 23, således at dens fol de-5 linie 24 ligeledes kommer til at ligge bag foldedelen ll's linie 22, umiddelbart ved siden af foldekanten 20.The folding portion 8 is folded backwardly around the folding line 17 so that its folding edge 18 will lie behind the line 25 16. Then the folding portion 9 is folded forward again around the folding edge 18, so that its line 19 will lie below the folding edge 17. The folding portion 10 is then folded forwardly about the folding edge 20 until its edge 21 will lie on the line 19 of the folding portion 9. Then, the folding portion 11 is folded around the edge 21 in the other direction, so that its line 22 will lie above the folding line 2D. The folding portion 12 is then folded backward around the folding edge 23 so that its folding line 24 will also lie behind the folding line 11 of the folding portion 11, immediately adjacent to the folding edge 20.

Derpå foldes foldedelen 13 igen fremad omkring kanten 24. således at dens linie 25 ligger bag foldelinien 23. Foldedelen 14 foldes nu fremad omkring foldelinien 26, 10 således at dens kant 27 kommer til at ligge på linien 25. Endelig foldes vægfeltet 6 således omkring linien 27, at linien 28 kommer til at ligge over foldelinien 26.Then the folding part 13 is folded forward again around the edge 24. so that its line 25 lies behind the folding line 23. The folding part 14 is now folded forward around the folding line 26, 10 so that its edge 27 will lie on the line 25. Finally, the wall panel 6 is folded around the line. 27, that line 28 will be above fold line 26.

I foldningens område ligger tre lag af flerlagsmateriale over hinanden. The result of the folding is shown in section in FIG. 3. A four-layer material is used for this. As already mentioned, a five-layer material has proved particularly advantageous, but materials with more or less number of layers can be used. In the area of the folding, three layers of multilayer material lie above each other. As shown at 29, 30 20 and 31, respectively, after folding on the inside of each corner area or on the outside of this folding edges, respectively, abut one another, and due to very strong compression of the folds, material in the container is prevented from entering the folds.

25 Ifølge fig. 4 er der på beholderens øvre rand fastgjort et metalbånd 32, der er bukket i U-form omkring randen.25 According to FIG. 4, on the upper edge of the container is attached a metal band 32 which is bent in a U-shape around the rim.

In the metal strip and in the container wall is formed a gutter-shaped indentation 33 extending parallel to the rim continuously around it, and which internally 30 in the container forms the abutment surface for a cover or lid 34 provided at the rim with a seal 35 which as shown with 36 is fixed to the lid. Further, a clamping ring 37 is disposed around the entire rim of the container which engages in the indentation 33 and engages around the lid 150 for effective retention thereof. Thereby, a tight closure is obtained which prevents leakage of the contents of the container. Furthermore, such a closure can be sealed for customs clearance or for other purposes.
